Amazon has a black friday edition that comes with the strap and some games (Fallout VR!) for free, thats about all I've seen for Vive deals. Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0765JWDT6?th=1

u/frankreddit5 · 6 pointsr/oculus

I got them on Amazon.

This is the one for the Quest

And this is the one for the GO

Same manufacturer.

They're well built, I like them a lot. Nice and compact too.

I love how everyone says 'basic use', and then 'browsing' is the first thing out of their mouths. A browser is incredibly complex. Web pages take a ton of power to render, and require a display that approaches 'standard' resolutions to be useful.

Of all the things I'd use a near-eye display for, browsing is literally the last on the list. It's an application where more screen real-estate is always better, and you'll never get enough.

It sounds to me like you're just looking to buy something, and the bottom line is that regular people just don't want to wear a computer around. Especially when it'll be less capable for browsing than a phone, and that's all that most people want to do.

As for suggestions, there are things on the market at varying costs. Here are some links to things of different styles, maybe one of them will be what you're looking for.

  • Glyph headphones These were a big deal when they were first being introduced a few years ago, but they didn't sell well at all. I think people just considered them 'silly'. I just noticed they're under $200 now, and I've considered picking up a pair to try them out.

  • Blade AR These are more recent, and probably more interesting in general. Reviews for these kinds of things are always middling at best, so I don't know how well they really work. Personally, I wouldn't buy them because I'm not sure if I could hack the display for an external computer, and this looks like it's meant to be more like VR glasses than a near-eye display. But, if you want an out of the box experience, maybe look that direction?

  • VISIONHMD These are your pretty standard display glasses. Recent generations of these have just had their asses kicked by cheap VR. Most VR uses a phone display, which are easy to find and really cheap. That means a device like this, using actual near-eye technology is expensive to produce by comparison, and it can't do VR, the one application people think of when they pick up a headset. That said, the prices are dropping on these and the res is pretty good. I could see buying a pair just to remove the displays, personally, but if you just want a small computer you could probably add a pi to the strap and have something usable here.

  • Vuefine This is definitely something more my speed. This is a single eye, reasonably good resolution, basic HDMI interface display. Stripping these down isn't be that hard, and I can hang them off just about anything.

So, depending on what you want, there are definitely options.

This is one of the cheapest bundles you can buy:
https://www.amazon.com/Oculus-Rift-Virtual-Reality-Headset/dp/B06XCKKG8F

It has the Rift + Touch + PC for $1100. Since Rift + Touch is $600, then the PC is ~$500.

BestBuy also has a similar build but w/o Touch for $999: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/oculus-rift-virtual-reality-headset-cyberpowerpc-gamer-ultra-vr-guavr3000b1-desktop-package/9999277100050000.p?skuId=9999277100050000

If you have the money, bump it up to $1300 and get that bundled PC; it's what I have and it's a lot better.

You can find the details here

u/reformedpickpocket · 3 pointsr/wigglegrams

The Lenovo Mirage will do it. Currently $123 at Amazon. The VR180 creator app will even process your image and spit out a wigglegram, but it will have some artifacts. I think you can split the image and process the shot yourself in photoshop and premiere to get a cleaner artifact free wigglegram.

The official one is too tight anyway.

These should work though you need to cut the foam yourself:

https://smile.amazon.com/CASEMATIX-Customizable-Compatible-Headset-Controllers/dp/B07S59ZSMN/

https://smile.amazon.com/CASEMATIX-Headset-Compatible-Controllers-Customizable/dp/B07MJM6JKC/

There are also a couple of compatible Navitech cases/backpacks but they all take too long to ship, so I ended up ordering this one:

https://smile.amazon.com/Hard-Travel-Case-Oculus-Rift/dp/B071RWHPWG/

Arriving tomorrow :)

Based off the internal dimensions, it should fit the Quest, and probably some extra like powerbank and stuff.

u/oTradeMark · 3 pointsr/OculusQuest

Are you getting the official Oculus case for $40?

I also got the 128gb version but I'm wondering if a 3rd party case will work better. For example this case (which is currently unavailable) is semi-waterproof and appears to have more room for other Quest accessories (batteries, charger, controller, etc). The Oculus case looks really sleek but doesn't appear to have room for anything extra in the case and it doesn't appear waterproof or nearly as sturdy as hard cases.

I am in UK so couldn't find these and end up buying different one but u/Barksie advised these (if you are in US):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VCF9P73/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

With the following quick review:

>Alright! So just got the silicone covers a couple of hours ago and put them through some small testing.

>
>1. Quality is good. They are not too thick and not too thin.
>
>2. They stay grippy even after my hands started sweating a bit.
>
>3. The covers stay in place and don't shift around even with a lot of force throwing my arms/hands around.
>
>4. Like someone else (@gchart95) mentioned earlier, it resolves the issue of the battery cover from slipping around.
>
>For $12, I totally recommend getting a pair. I'm not a fan of the red but they were the only ones available with Amazon Prime but they restocked the black today which I ordered so I'll be gettign those Saturday and returning the red. Hope this helps!

There are different accessories I have bought and has made my experience better.

Cable management: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073P7GJNP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Audio upgrade:

- Cheap (For just exploring around and watching videos) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006B486K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

- Expensive (Mainly for playing games and having a mic instead of the built in mic since it's buggy on the headset) - https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Flight-Detachable-Comfortable/dp/B077ZGRY9V/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3D960PSK6KV35&keywords=hyperx+cloud+flight&qid=1564661727&s=electronics&sprefix=hyperx+cloud+%2Celectronics%2C151&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExRkdWSElOUU5JREhTJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDYwNzUxMVZSTjVPU1pFS0Y1USZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMTEwOTk2MVgyMkUwMjdWRlo1MyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Controller grips:

These arrive today so I can't say if they are good or bad yet but I've only heard good - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VCF9P73/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I've had these for awhile and they work great (if you have larger hands, these are perfect) - https://www.mamutvr.com/collections/upcoming/products/mamut-touch-grip

Headset power:

I've heard people have had tracking issues due to insufficient power from their usb ports, my RTX 2080 has a dedicated USB-Type C that I use to power my headset and haven't had any tracking issues - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GGKYXVE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Rechargeable batteries for the controllers:

I've heard other people recommend different batteries but these have worked well for me - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IM3P8GS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  • First off, comfort: The Quest is front heavy so a decent battery pack as a counter-weight is essential. I also got a mounting kit to go with it which works well. This also has the obvious advantage of elongating your playing time quite a bit. This coupled with a pair of discrete earbuds and you can save the bag of cash that others are spending on the DAS mod.
  • Next up, controller security. I play a game where throwing away empty guns is part of the game play. In order to make sure you don't accidentally toss your controllers as well in the heat of a John Wick style gun kata combination you're going to need some knuckle straps.
  • Portability means taking your Quest with you. So, you'll need a decent case to protect your new best friend.
  • As someone already mentioned, you'll want to cover your lenses when not in use to protect them.
  • The one thing that many forget on lists like these, rechargables for your controllers!

Yeah I bought mine on Amazon. It was the last one... Here's the link

Headphone Adapter for Oculus Rift S Compatible with Koss Porta Pro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TD9YWF2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SiysDbMWSR687

And here's the headphones for them

Koss Porta Pro Black On Ear Headphones with Case Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0755N6CSR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pjysDbB5DB3B0

To be honest they just make it more like the rift. They are not amazing headphones but they are light weight and get thy job done.

u/the320x200 · 2 pointsr/oculus

link

It's a mixed bag of a camera, and others have come out since it launched, so don't consider this an absolute endorsement or anything, but I've used it to record live shows before. Audio quality is garbage but the video delivers much more presence than Venue's monoscopic stream.

u/soleus1402 · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Problem solved...in two parts, so if you only want to put on the top silicone part thats what you do. According to the seller does not affect tracking

https://www.amazon.com/Ksruee-Controller-Accessories-Low-Profile-Protective/dp/B07VM888BD/ref=mp_s_a_1_20?keywords=oculus+quest&qid=1564532099&s=gateway&sr=8-20

u/victor7gonzo · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Not a skin but I bought these grips and they had a gel cover around the ring which effectively made the controllers useless, so now I have to use just the bottom part. It may be the same for a decal around the ring since it will also cover the sensors but I am not entirely sure.

u/Pseudonym808 · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

I just bought this case:
(I'll make a post on how I like it after it comes in)

Counter weight strap and Portable Charger RAVPower 18W PD 10000mAh Portable Charger 10000 USB C Power Bank External Battery Pack.

I posted a link for the Ravpower via KinjaDeals when it was $10 off and it was downvoted, but its perfect. It charges when plugged in. I was orginally using my AUKEY USB C Power Bank 30000mAh, Portable Charger with Quick Charge 3.0, Battery Pack. 20.4 oz is much heavier than the 10 oz RavPower. The RAV also came with a micro-usb to USB-C adapter, handy for sidequest.

Orzero Controller Cover Compatible for Oculus Quest are ok, but I just ordered [Oculus Quest and Rift S Knuckle Grips (Extra Strength and Comfort)] from FreeStyle3D on Etsy.

I started off with the Power Bank Mount Kit, but I'm only using the usb extensions with angles and the case.

AMVR VR Facial Interface Bracket & PU Leather Foam Face Cover Pad Replacement Comfort Set for Oculus Quest arrived yesterday and so far I love it. I've read comments that its not perfect for people with glasses.

Overall imho the Rift S is the better upgrade when you look at the price of 450€. The sound is really a downer, but you can mod the Rift S with the same headphones as the OG Rift as has been shown by u/Tyrantkv:Headphone Adapter for Oculus Rift S Compatible with Koss Porta Pro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TD9YWF2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SiysDbMWSR687

In the US you can get the Clips 3d Printed from JorgTheElder on Thigyverse for 20 dollars. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3664007

And here's the headphones for them

Koss Porta Pro Black On Ear Headphones with Case Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0755N6CSR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pjysDbB5DB3B0

Or go for a used OG Rift for 200€ or less.

https://uploadvr.com/oculus-bundle-1300-rift-touch-pc-games/ heres a recent one, its more than 1k, but it comes with lots of good shit too

heres the 1k bundle i was thinking of https://www.amazon.com/Oculus-Rift-Virtual-Reality-Headset/dp/B06XCKKG8F/?th=1 (i think there was a time limited one that was actually only $1000)

honestly the price difference between a pro+psvr vs a pc+rift bundle is more than accounted for in the raw functionality you get from it let alone the improvements in the vr side of things

u/creepytacoman · 1 pointr/virtualreality

That's kind of defeating the whole purpose of VR. Check out this video to get a better understanding of it: https://youtu.be/Jd3-eiid-Uw. It doesn't display a window attached to your face, it displays the window in virtual space and you can move around it.

If you're just looking for a head mounted display that doesn't track movement at all, you could try something like the avegant glyph https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQWK336/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0kD3Db3KWKFPF. It's significantly easier to use and you don't need a computer running steamvr or anything, you just need an HDMI input. This sounds more like what you're looking for, but I'm not sure whether or not it's something you would actually like. It's a pretty low tech solution and the field of view is very tiny, unlike proper VR. This field of view being small is not due to the technology being bad, it's because if it were to take up your field of view without doing motion tracking, it would be quite sickness inducing. This is why you wouldn't want to just disable motion tracking on a real VR headset.

Were you talking about this one or was there another halo mod on the list before?
