If you have your heart set on it, you could opt for something like this.
Its a tiny printer that prints on regular photo paper at a pretty high dpi. I have bought packs of 4x6 photo paper from the 99c store, so I imagine you could find it in bulk online for cheap.
Then you could have a photo for your guest book, and extra paper on hand for guests to take pictures home!
It's still not cheap, but should knock $140 or so off your costs.
If the OP wanted Polaroids, that's the only option... Maybe those fujifilm cameras with a built-in printer would be cheaper. Actually, a normal digital camera with one of those really nice, small Canon printers would give really great results. You would even be able to use the formerly-useless direct print button on Canon cameras!
