Fresh baked cobbler is one of my favorite desserts and is ridiculously easy to make.

I'll give you one of my recipes to try out.

I take 6 apples, slice, peel and cut into chunks then put them into a 9" pyrex pie pan.

Then take about 2" of real butter (don't fuck with fake butter), and cut it into slices/chunks and put it down with the apples.

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar over the apples evenly.

Mix up about half a cup of instant pancake mix (pancake mix + water + 1 teaspoon sugar). You want it soupy enough to pour. Pour this over top of the applies/butter as evenly as you can but doesn't need to be perfect, in fact it's better if it isn't.

Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of sugar over top of this.

Stick it in the oven and cook till the crust looks done. 60 minutes in a convection oven, 90 minutes in a traditional oven is a good starting point.

This way you can bake a fresh apple cobbler that's fucking delicious for less then $1 and maybe 5-10 minutes of prep time.

If you like a thicker crust, double up on the pancake mix, which is what I did here. I've used actual pie crust mix but the pancake mix is cheaper and tastes the same.

You can also make biscuits, flat bread, and well, pancakes, from the pancake mix :-)

I have a few more easy simple recipes like that if you're interested.

My mom got it for me as a gift. It looks like Amazon has it.

There are also things made for this that are a little more re-usable like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pampered-Chef-Crust-Shield-2-Inch/dp/B002VEX4HY/

Buying a book is not about obtaining a possession, but about securing a portal. And I need this portal opened so I can cook in my new pie irons over a campfire. I know very little about campfire cooking in pie irons and would love to read this cover to cover in time for my summer camping trips. I will think of you every time I make a pie on a campfire if I win this contest. I may think of you everytime I do that even if I don't win this.

<3 to you and thanks for the chance to win!

I bought a four pack of mini pie dishes from home goods / tj maxx for $4.99. They look like these.

https://www.amazon.com/Masterclass-Premium-Bakeware-Mini-Oval/dp/B00EZ619T6

I transfer my whole sample to the dish and try to squash it evenly. Use it like a puck on its last legs for 5-7 shaves and face lather.

I prefer these because of the grip that the lip provides.

If you hate the scent just soak for a few hours and they wipe clean.

Hey peeps, my Mom is looking at doing miniature work using 3D printers, anything from 48th scale to 12th scale is something like the Ender 3 Pro viable for that or would resin be the way forward? I see some great figures but they are often not at the right scale for her to really assess.

Would a pie dish like this be possible (5mm diameter 48th/20mm 12th)?

Something like french furniture (40mm height 48th/160mm 12th) maybe since it's bigger?

Would appreciate any info on the mini scene that is more furniture based rather than figures.

I agree...though possible, pulling tarts out of a muffin pan can sometimes be devastating when they stick or crumble. Could you buy disposable aluminum mini pie tins? I use them for butter tarts. I can find these at my local grocery store, with the other foil pie tins and roasting pans. like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Mini-pie-pan-Foil-Utility/dp/B00BXDPYPY

You can serve them in the tins (this is what I do) or because they are flexible, it is easy to push from the bottom to pop the finished pie out.

I don't get the baked goods in a jar craze...it seems like it would just make things more complicated to eat.

Why not just buy a mini pie maker?

It's a totally unneeded kitchen gadget which is exactly the kind of thing I've become a sucker for thanks to Amazon.

Thanks! I had gone the lazy way last time and used some boxed mix but that stuff ended up being awful and I couldn't even get it to work right. It was a total mess. I'd like to try again because even when it was a mess it was delicious, lol. I'm addicted to apple pie

I have been loving a quick frittata lately. When I am busy I just use an individual pie pan and throw in some frozen broccoli and cheese, cover with egg whites from a carton and pop into the toaster oven for 30-40min at 375F (190C). I cover it in salsa and it's a great quick meal with minimal prep that I don't have to watch or be involved with while it cooks. On days I have more time I whisk real eggs and a bit of heavy cream as a base and add different spices and different veggies. For the best frittatas you precook the veggies on the stovetop then put the whole pan in the oven but I still like them the quick way.

bye bye miss American pie...

USA

edit: just realized that pie pan had a shipping cost oops! fixed it now

I was mostly making fun of the fact that they really aren't "pies", being extremely tiny. They aren't even as big as individual serving pies you can buy.

These are basically the size of muffins, which is why they cook so fast. If you want mini pies, use mini tins in the oven.
Even stuff like this have larger pies, if you REALLY want a pie maker, there are others with only 2 pies (larger)

Right now I have 3 Pyrex, 2 standard and one deep. They bake just fine, and I don't really have any serious complaints about them. They're okay. I used to have two metal ones with perforated bottoms, which I was in love with. The holes meant my bottom crust was never soggy. They got lost when I moved, no idea how. I really need to replace them.

Edit: These are the pans I liked. I don't know what the person who gave them a bad review is talking about, I certainly never had that problem.

Some hosts swear by this makeup towel (which helps with laundry cause cosmetics are a bitch to get out)

I like to serve breakfast for my guests and make mini-quiches for them. This mini-pie baker makes individual quiches in 7 minutes and my guests adore them.

I bought myself this corkboard for the guest space - so that they can affix pins and show where they're from.

3.01 was as close as I could get to pi.

I have a pie pan on my wish list.

> Amazon.com has tons of them.

That's strange, it's almost as if apple pie was typically American.

Seriously though, is this what you're looking for?

> Overview:

> When we rated pie plates a decade ago, we picked our winner because it browned and crisped crusts better than the other contenders. We also liked its wide rim for easy fluting, see-through bottom that allowed pie-makers to monitor bottom crusts, and low price. But while it produced the best-baked crusts, they could have been a tad crisper. Since that time, manufacturers have designed pie plates with fancy new features (mesh bottoms, scalloped edges, crust protectors) purported to produce perfect pies. We tested seven new models against our old favorite.

TESTING NOTES

WINNER:
Pyrex Bakeware 9 Inch Pie Plate - $3.99

> Good crisping and browning, a see-through bottom to monitor the bottom crust, a half-inch rim, shallow, angled sides, and a low price made this our winner—again.

RECOMMENDED:

  • Rose's Perfect Pie Plate by Rose Levy Beranbaum - $19.99

3 others were RECOMMENDED WITH RESERVATIONS:

  • Pyrex 9 1/2 Inch Advantage Pie Plate $5.99

    > Good browning and crisping, evenly cooked fillings, and large handles made this plate appealing. But scallop shaped depressions around the edges for press-in fluting actually made pies look messy.

Be careful: The Advantage is the model most commonly available online when you search for 'Pyrex'. ~OP

  • Corningware SimplyLite 9 Inch Pie Plate - $9.99
  • Doughmakers Pie Pan with Crust Protector - $19.99

    3 others were NOT RECOMMENDED:

  • Norpro Nonstick Pie Crust Pan with Shield
  • Chicago Metallic Perforated Pie Pan
  • Crispy Crust Pie Pan

There are some good suggestions here, for the future we use these:

Camping Pie Irons

The possibilities are endless we these things. usually we do pizza pies on them: sauce, cheese and pepperoni in between bread. They also work with canned pie filling pretty well too.
