Vertically. Get a microwave plate stacker like this one. One hot pocket per plate, then stack the plates in the microwave. Everyone's happy.

There are round glass mirror plates you can buy or wooden slices. Local craft stores might stick them or amazon, or is there a rental place you can get table things from? You can then put something black underneath them to make them higher if you need to but I’ve seen a lot of people use them alone.

Mine's not quite a white whale, but there's a dress I'm in love with (Lazaro Marilla) that is too new for there to be anything other than a runway sample to try on, and I have no idea if I'll be able to walk in it or if it will cover my large chest. The company doesn't know if/when there will be a sample in a larger size, other than "maybe sometime in 2020." The problem is, the designer has specifically said this is his only dress with this specific silhouette and he was trying something new for the season.

Perhaps a two-compartment sauce dish might be close to what you're looking for?
