I went last year for the first time since about 2002. To put it lightly, I was scared.
It turns out that my fear of dentists for the previous 16 years was a solid and effective motivator for me to take very good care of my teeth. No cavities. I waited until AFTER the cleaning to tell them how long it had been, and they said it looked like I had been getting cleanings every 6 months. Now, whenever I go in every 6 months, they tell me I consistently have the cleanest teeth of any of their clients (maybe they are lying to make me feel good).
My regimen for the last 17 years:
Also, I see a LOT of people brushing only the tops of their teeth. You need to brush the tops, AND the front and back. Spend extra time in the back by your wisdom teeth, as this is the place most people have problems.
I know some people will say not to use a tongue scraper every day. I suppose if your using it like you're trying to scrape paint, that might not be a good idea. Orabrush makes a soft one with little bristles on it. It's a lot less harsh than the rigid plastic ones, I wouldn't use one of those every day. Here's the one I use:

And for flossing:

Mouthwash:

Yeah, I know, it has alcohol, and it doesn't have fluoride. I found that non-alcohol mouthwashes don't seem to work very well. And, I don't need fluoride from my mouthwash since I brush immediately after the mouthwash. Also, this particular listerine has some extra chemicals in them to help loosen food and stuff, which their fluoride version does NOT have.
Edit: On the Novamin toothpaste... It was available in the US back in like 2007 or so. It got pulled from the market because of patent or licensing issues or something. Countries with bad teeth stereotypes can now buy this stuff over the counter and have overall better dental health than americans now. If you search around, you can find companies that will sell it to you and ship it to the US. The 3M Clin-pro stuff is the only "legal" choice here, but it requires a prescription, and the dentist will probably charge you $40 a tube for it. There is also this stuff:
https://www.amazon.com/Apagard-Premio-toothpaste-nanohydroxyapatite-remineralizing/dp/B0016GCZSC/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2NRDCT9IY50MV&keywords=primo+toothpaste&qid=1574097773&s=hpc&sprefix=primo+tooth%2Chpc%2C166&sr=1-7
There are some NIH articles on tests of this stuff, and it appears to be as good or even better than Novamin. I have some. I asked my dentist about it, and he recommends it to people who think that fluoride is a mind control agent and won't use fluoride toothpaste. He has only started recommending it, so he didn't have feedback on how well it worked. Sometimes I switch it up and use this for a week or so.

Oral B round brush heads require you to focus individually on each tooth. Sonicare has longer brush heads that cover more teeth. I prefer sonicare, but for patients who have a hard time with oral hygiene I instruct them to purchase an oral b and watch themselves in the mirror focusing on each tooth. Currently using the Sonicare diamondclean (https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Sonicare-DiamondClean-Rechargeable-toothbrush/dp/B07C35B8L5/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?keywords=sonicare+diamondclean&qid=1563378221&s=gateway&sr=8-6) but in office we sell https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Sonicare-Flexcare-Rechargeable-Toothbrush/dp/B01N0T4CTR/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?keywords=sonicare&qid=1563378286&s=gateway&sr=8-9.
The oral b I recommend is https://www.amazon.com/gp/slredirect/picassoRedirect.html/ref=pa_sp_phone_search_atf_aps_sr_pg1_2?ie=UTF8&adId=A08873563H10F08JAFSKT&url=%2FOral-B-SmartSeries-Rechargeable-Replacement-Connectivity%2Fdp%2FB00F9X34XS%2Fref%3Dmp_s_a_1_2_sspa%3Fkeywords%3Doral%2Bb%26qid%3D1563378329%26s%3Dgateway%26sr%3D8-2-spons%26psc%3D1&qualifier=1563378329&id=8244109854001865&widgetName=sp_phone_search_atf

I personally enjoy my brightline bag but I commute so I don’t pack food, that’s what per diem is for.
I’d recommend a Microsoft surface over a laptop. I’d get a hard mousepad to lay over everything in your bag. When your bag goes vertical it’ll help keep everything slightly in order also.

Cleaning under your gums & around the brackets is not out of the question, and you need to start now. Also, if your toothbrush is powering out while you're using it, you need a new toothbrush. Here's a good one that isn't too expensive:

I have braces and have started down the path to a straight smile. It is an expensive and painful process when you are an adult. I am constantly having to obsess about my teeth. 6 months in and I have two more years to go. However, I can already see an improvement.

For "therapeutic" effects - Pro-Medic VIS-IR Ultrasonic Electric Power Toothbrush
For "whitening" - Go Smile Sonic Blue
For lazy people - Triple Bristle Sonic Toothbrush
For whatever - PhotOral
My kids like the Premium Gum Care. The bristles are soft so you’re not destroying your gums while you try to work around the brackets.
I'm not a dentist, but an electric toothbrush changed my life. I have this. It's very affordable and the replacement heads are very affordable. I definitely like the sonic brushes more than the oscillating heads, but I know some dentists recommend the round, oscillating heads. Either way, you won't regret getting one. And try the dentec floss picks!
TOOTHBRUSH
This is the electric toothbrush I use and recommend: Sonicare Flex Care Plus. It is cheapest at Costco but comes in a pack of 2. It's important to replace the brush head every 3-4 months. Sonicare now has a subscription service to automatically send you a new brush head when it's time to replace, or you can buy the brush heads when you need them; they come out to approx $9 each on amazon but you can get 6 for $50 at Costco and they oftentimes have a $10 instant rebate. If you need to use a manual toothbrush, I recommend the Nimbus manual toothbrush. These Wisps are really handy when you can't brush after eating.
FLOSS
The floss I recommend is Dr. Tung's Smart Floss and you can use this Floss Holder to make it easier to use. (Amazon only sells the floss in packs of 3 or 6 so if you want to purchase a single pack you can find it at Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, or Sprouts.) A Waterpik can also be a great tool, this one is a Handheld Waterpik and is more convenient to use. You can use it in the shower and it takes up less counter space.
TOOTHPASTE/MOUTHWASH
This Crest Gum and Sensitivity paste is one of my favorites and I like Act Total Care mouthwash. When choosing a toothpaste or mouthwash, look for "sodium fluoride" as an active ingredient. It's best to stay away from mouthwashes with alcohol in them and whitening/charcoal pastes because the abrasives in them can damage the teeth. If you use a whitening rinse with hydrogen peroxide, only use it 2-3 times per week to avoid making the gum tissue sensitive. Other than that, whatever you prefer is just fine.
WHITENING
For an inexpensive whitening treatment Crest White Strips are a good option.
Get a wirelessly chargable electric toothbrush. Remove the circuit boards and install them into your project. Charge with the toothbrush charger. Done!

Do you think this will work? I just spent my vape budget, but would like to try something
Thank you... It makes me feel better that you guys think I can maintain it. I guess it is just pretty scary to basically be told I have an incurable disease..!
I think I've already improved my flossing but I will make sure. Electric toothbrush is a good idea that I probably should have already done by now. I'll get one soon. Thinking of the Philips Sonicare 5100 because it specifically says for gum health. The fancier ones seem like they have extra features I don't really need lol. Thanks again.
There are better methods!
Check out this seller on amazon. I have been using their off brand replacement heads since 2017 and have been very pleased with them overall!
Dove compri i ricambi? Ogni quanto? E il costo?
this one runs on a regular aa battery, and works well. I have used it for 3-4 years.
Then there are the rechargable ones which are newer models which can be used in Indian homes too. This and this ones are the new ones. a bit pricey but excellent features. I have coupon codes for 500-1000 rs discount on these, if you want, just ask!

First, you should only be brushing with a soft bristled toothbrush. Everything else tends to be too hard on the gum tissue. Brush for two minutes using the Modified Bass Technique. Look it up on youtube. Also, "Just saw one seven years ago?" That made me lol.
I have and use a sonicare. I love it to death. However, this is an excellent deal. Rotary brushes are excellent at removing plaque, and Oral-B replacement heads tend to be cheaper than the sonicare ones.
