Jeff had just said, "Balance restored, I guess," which is a line from Chapter Eight of Pauline Baird Jones' WWII time travel novel, Out of Time.

EDIT: Just so everyone knows, this is a true fact — but totally irrelevant. lol

Hey guys! My name is Adam and my mom finally self published her book after eleven years! She's so excited about it and really would love some feedback on it. You can download a sample, of course, and she has a free download promotion scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Destiny's First Awakening is about a girl who lived her life disguised as a man for the sake of staying alive. When the human race is enslaved it's up to her to navigate through this new world and stop the evil-doers who are plotting her death as well as her companions.

It's got spicy romance and a whole ton of magic and drama ya'll. I can't stress enough how great this book is! (Not even being biased.. like I really loved this book.) There's so much more to come from this series! Give it a go? :)

My recommendation would be: Exile's Return

Rick Griffin has also done a short or two.

If you want to go old school, Sholan Alliance series is a good choice

For free stuff, I would check out Sunset of Furmankind by Ted R. Blasingame If you dont mind simpler writing Blue Horizon is also worth a look at.

I could look though my physical books and likely come up with a few more, but there isn't a whole lot of scifi.

Edit: A few more:
Otters in space, it is a bit better then the title suggest.

John Van Stry used to write stuff. Not to fond of his current model, and hes not really targeting furs anymore.

On a little different note, its worth mentioning the deathless series when talking about Audio Books. Its not really targeted at furries, but its a post-apocalyptic tongue in cheek scifi/horror that starts out with "No such thing as werewolves"

I may read to much.

Glad to hear this is good. I am on the wait list at the library (here in Boston it is very popular, so I have a long wait).

If you liked this type of book, you might consider some fiction from [Jennifer Rohn] (https://www.amazon.com/Honest-Look-Jennifer-Rohn-ebook/dp/B004OEIEO2?ie=UTF8&keywords=the%20honest%20look&qid=1416672076&ref_=sr_1_1&s=digital-text&sr=1-1). She is a PI with a background in cell biology; her work fits in the lab lit genre. Some time ago, I wrote a [blog post] (http://yeastgrrl.blogspot.com/2014/11/lablit-books-about-scientists-and.html) with more information about "lab lit", which basically covers fictional books about life in the lab.

Since this subreddit asks for more info in a top-level comment...Hi! I'm Jesse. About two years ago I put out a novel called Physics Incarnate, but I didn't even know of this subreddit at the time. This week, I've launched the sequel to that story, Physics Reincarnate.

What are they about? Well, to sum up the series, they're centered around a physics professor named Emmett Eisenberg who happens to be a super-human endowed with the power to manipulate physics. It's in the title, really! Anyway, ten years ago Emmett and some colleagues were involved in a research project aimed at using super-human abilities to improve humankind. This project did not end well.

Ten years later, in the first book, Emmett is enjoying life as a teacher at a college, and everyone around him (including the reader) has no idea about what Emmett's history was. He's even dating the associate chair of the psychology department, who just happens to be writing a book on delusions of grandeur! Some of Emmett's old colleagues convince him to have a reunion. At first this all seems well and good, and our physicist friend seems happy to be talking to his old buddies again! It doesn't take long before it becomes obvious to his girlfriend (and the reader) that these guys aren't normal; at first, it's easy to dismiss them as a clique of paranoid nutters. At the "twist" of the book, Emmett's superhuman nature is revealed to the reader as well as his girlfriend, who predictably freaks out. From that point on, Emmett has to face his past and make amends as best he can - after all, just because there are super-heroes in the world doesn't mean Emmett was always strictly on their side.

Our second book, the one released this week, picks up with Emmett having to bail his colleague James Lowery out of jail. Jim is endowed with the power of superhuman senses - balance, hearing, sight, whatever. He isn't super-strong or super-fast, but his skill makes him incredibly deadly, and his alcoholism makes him a danger to himself as well as others. Jim is distressed that he's been asked by his contacts at the CIA to investigate an odd radio broadcast coming from Alaska - in particularly, coming from near one of Emmett's new research facilities on climate change. This leads Emmett, Jim, and their group into a death-match with another super-human organization, one that is all too prepared for Emmett's old crew.

Now for the goodies. You've read this far - you deserve 'em! Both novels are available in paperback (I linked to the Reincarnate paperback edition). However, they are also available on Amazon's Kindle. And, on August 21st and August 22nd, the first book (Physics Incarnate) is available for free on the Kindle. Here's the links!

I use Smashwords and Kindle. Smashwords distributes to everyone (Apple, Barnes & Noble, Overdrive, etc) and Kindle to go direct to Amazon. I've used them for all three of my books. Publishing my third book tomorrow.

Cover designs I check iStock or Shutterstock and buy there.

Congrats on the book and best of luck!

We need to do more for our returning war Vets

(1) Long Road Home - 50,000 veterans will have returned home physically wounded since 2001.

(2) According to the Veteran’s Administration not-yet-published statistics, 367,749 Iraqi and Afghan vets have sought mental health care treatment. That's 51.7 percent of the total caseload - and also 28.2 percent of the returning 1.3 million vets - a number that's sure to grow larger as those who returned home recently begin acknowledging cases of delayed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It's common for vets not to begin experiencing combat stress until after the euphoria of being home has waned, typically six months to a year or more.

(3) 45% of Afghanistan, Iraq Vets Seek Disability
By Daniel Politi | Posted Sunday, May 27, 2012, at 3:32 PM ET

My novel Sequin Boy And Cindy takes a long hard look at the plight of our returning war Veterans, and although basically the love story of two disabled returning war heroes manages to pose the problems we face as the result of the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars.

We need to be able to do more than we have for our returning Vets. Not everyone can hope to be as blessed as our principal characters Billy and Cindy in http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0085M3BZ6

One of my authors published his fourth novel and has been getting great reviews. It's a historical fiction / romance novel / action & adventure...

"The Gray Fedora is a very lively fast paced "MUST READ" for anyone who is interested in the rich multi-faceted cultures & histories of Italy & Ireland. The Grey Fedora book is, without a doubt, impossible to put down after one reads only a few pages. Anyone who loves superbly written historical fiction will enjoy reading The Grey Fedora." -Debby Kaller, ★★★★★ 5-Star Review from Amazon

The author is running a #CyberMonday deal today for the Kindle version today only, for 50% off. (On sale for $4.99, from $9.95.) If you love Italy - you should consider reading it! https://www.amazon.com/Gray-Fedora-History-Heritage-Hero-ebook/dp/B07G5R1TLV/

This is the epic story of a young man who leaves Ireland for America in 1860 to escape years of famine, only to be shanghaied to Palermo, Sicily. It’s the beginning of the Risorgimento, or revolution for Sicilian independence. Connor Doherty “chooses” to join the great general Giuseppe Garibaldi in the war. Less than a year later, he ends up in a small town in Sicily and becomes involved in the very genesis of the Mafia, falls in love, and builds a home.

Sssshhh!!! I haven't read Murderbot Diaries yet!

If you like AI characters you might try Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie. It starts out slow, but opens to awesomeness about 60% through. Also, if you like AI characters, Becky Chambers' A Closed and Common Orbit. You can read the first book A Long way to a Small Angry Planet first, and you should, because it is good, but it doesn't really involve AI and is not required to be read first.

Great question! I love reading people’s book recommendations! I find that thrillers usually keep me engrossed from start to finish. My most recent FAVORITE book is "The Persian Woman" by Thomas Booker. This book somehow manages to mix the action/suspense/thriller genre with romance in an interesting and unique way. The book follows the unlikely relationship between Jeffrey Quinn (ex Navy seal) and Muslim FBI Agent Parvin Sassani. Jeffrey has extreme biases towards Muslims because his wife was killed by a jihadist. The book is refreshing in the sense that it covers a very real issue that is happening today with unfounded biases against certain cultures and religions. He is forced to learn about her ethics, culture, and belief system and in turn he falls for her. The characters are extremely likable and the story is riveting from start to finish. You can read more about it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Persian-Woman-Thomas-Booker-ebook/dp/B014TQ1B7Q
Let me know what you think! Happy Reading!
