New boots:

They're Golden Fox Boondockers and I added Red Wing leather boot laces to them. I like the way they look, but am now questioning if I should return them and just get some suede CDBs which might have more versatility and wouldn't be quite as bulky...

Any thoughts?

u/Infj-dude · 10 pointsr/aww

Wow, we have the exact same pair of boot laces

u/amak316 · 7 pointsr/Sneakers

I swapped these laces in and it looks good IMO. Had to break up the grey a bit and cream colored laces work pretty well with this colorway. I suppose I should post a picture

u/irbilldozer · 4 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

I ordered a pair of these when I ordered my Apaches because I had already read about the laces being hard to deal with. I can let you know how they are once both arrive.

Lock Laces are a brand, but there are similar alternatives. I just really like and rely on LockLaces because its what I know, ya know? They are no tie and use basically a clip to lock the laces into place. And the actual laces are a thick elastic so you can spot tighten where you want more support. So I make down near the toe box tighter, make them as loose as possible where the shoe is narrowest, and tighten it back up slightly at the top. Clip it, then tuck the overhang down under the zig zag.

Ill have to check out the Altras as well then. The grip on my Reeboks has mostly been ok, but on obstacles like Olympus, I feel like they're not so great. I can still get through but the grip isnt there. Slip walls have been fine. Downhill running has mostly been fine, but any slickness (mud or wet, soft grass) there is definitely some slippage

>it seems to me that that fewer steps = easier.

It's the steps that matter. That's a difficult arrangement being made between the two hands, as difficult as several simple steps using the traditional method.

The point is kind of moot though because most young kids have Velcro straps, slip-ons, or their parents replace the laces with elastic quick-locking laces which just require squeezing a tab and pulling.

Been using these since September, they've seemed to hold up pretty well so far!

u/chickenfark · 2 pointsr/goodyearwelt

Here ya go! Definitely love how they look, and would recommend getting 'em.

Hoka One Ones has a bit of elastic in their laces, but you'd probably be better off finding shoes you like and then adding something like these.

These are the ones I have,

[Hand made 120cm Long Men's Round... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0190BGSB4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I can’t vouch for them as I’ve just done the swap and don’t know if they’ll hold up - but they look pretty good :)

Also ordered some from lacelab, they get delivered today.

u/popecollision · 2 pointsr/BarefootRunning

Yeah, motus was really disappointing in person. I'm fine with my chili pepper Primus pair, though I think they looked better once I replaced them with these elastic laces.

u/htfgiggles · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

something more like this? http://www.amazon.com/Adcor-Leather-Boot-Shoe-Lace/dp/B0013PURTK
Those were a first choice, but i couldnt find them around in any shops so i just tried on the dark brown ones

u/saracuda · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

Yeah I was going to wear gel inserts, heel protectors (to avoid sinking into the grass) and even this thingie to help keep the shoe on.

You're so lucky you got them on sale, they're going for $245 on Amazon right now, as well as Nordstroms sigh. I was worried about them being a bit too "extra", and that my dress would cover up the crystals but... I think I really want them.

PS You look fabulous.

I got this exact one. 36" white rope laces which you can even buy from one of the vendors that are partnered with this subreddit. I only bought it from amazon because I had some left over amazon credit and wanted to use it up

u/eldiosdelosmapaches · 1 pointr/streetwear

I bought them off Amazon from here

u/jt32470 · 1 pointr/RedWingShoes

kevlar laces similar to these

For the cleaning, conditioning you can use a kit like this one

u/Varnu · 1 pointr/goodyearwelt

I replaced my default Tricker's laces with these from DailyShoes, via Amazon and feel like it was an upgrade. Waxier.

I think you want a premium insert - try looking at Pedag brand, they make lots of different inserts. Depending on how much arch support you want, you can do something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pedag-Gel-Velvety-Insole-Sandals-Medium/dp/B00478S1SO/ or this: https://www.amazon.com/Pedag-124-Insole-Severe-Metatarsal/dp/B001G0NNWU/ .

Or, you can buy metatarsal-specific pads (like the first 3 results): https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=PEDAG+METATARSAL depending on how much support you need.

This brand is leaps and bounds better than anything you'll find at a drugstore or from one of those Foot Petals-type brands.

It's also good to have this kind of thing on hand in case you start feeling like you have to scrunch your toes when you walk or the shoes will fall off. You can slip it on and your foot relaxes: https://www.amazon.com/Closecret-Womens-Transparent-Invisible-Straps/dp/B01G8KMEVS/

Ah, ok - good to see where you're coming from. Here's an excerpt from Clark's themselves:

Suede and Nubuck Leathers

• To clean, use a rubber eraser to remove dirt and smudges. Then, brush lightly with a soft brush specifically for suede and nubuck products.
• Care should be taken to brush in the same direction. If you brush in different directions, some suedes will give the appearance of being two different colors.
• Never use a wire brush or polish on suede or nubuck. (Some suede brushes do have wire in the center, which is specifically made for use on suede).

Here's some cleaner

This is the eraser/brush they talk about

As for shoetrees, I don't think you'll really need them for this style boot. But it couldn't hurt if you're really worried.

I might look for a more refined dress lace than the ones already on there.

u/JinMarui · 1 pointr/todayilearned

Orrrrrr this.

u/alpha_hxCR8 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Yeah I saw those after I ordered these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FU6ISGW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Perhaps when these run out, I will get the leather laces. I did see this lace inspiration album..who would have thought this would exist on reddit...lol

but they look gorgeous..

Do leather laces last long?

Go on amazon and look for some affordable LED sole shoes and some LED laces, you should be able to find both for no more than about 40 bucks if that fits your budget. My girlfriend and I used LED laces before and the effect was really cool looking and made it easy to see each other in crowds.

The ones I've used and really liked were a continuous tube of light, here's a link.

SQ: A while ago I got an incredible deal on a bundle of CDBs that I couldn't just let go of. However, I never really liked the white laces two of them came with, but I'm also not good at knowing which laces would look good with what shoe so I have left them as is. It's been well over a year now and I'm ready for suggestions. I'm guessing these flat waxed ones commonly recommended would be suitable for these as well?

GD: As a bonus, I'll throw in my beard before & after for those that don't browse MFA.

I wear 9 wide (in the US). My actual foot size is closer to 8.5 dinner-roll-round. We have a local New Balance store that measures and fits you perfectly for athletic type shoes. I have great cross trainers from them that are day to day.

Now then, on to work shoes. I order from Shoes for Crews. I have no clue if they ship Canadian, but I can't imagine they don't. My experience with them is one half size bigger and 'Wide'.

I also use Lock Laces.

Shoes for Crews thrives on corporate funding but they do have several styles that resemble popular brands such as Doc's.

u/s2xtreme4u · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I set it to 50 seconds then payed it while watching this video on mute. Fit perfectly. I think it would be awesome for videos like this.

This would be my gift choice. Thanks!

Search for boot laces

I like the boot laces, they're a little more interesting.

u/Ryan_Firecrotch · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I have this bookmarked, 45" is a shit ton more than you need though so I'm sure you can find less.
