I looked real quick at Bartels down there and the cheapest I found was $140, so yeah it's surprisingly spendy to rent a tux when suits online are so cheap these days.

I just checked my closet and I don't have anything in 38. Or really anything I think would work for a teen at a dance.

Only drawback is that you might need to have it adjusted by a tailor, but that will be the case for any suit you get him without fitting first.

i’m doing the same. i found 2 suits on amazon. one only has like a dark blue and a lime green, like the only ‘igor’ color suits. that one has a max of $45. the 2nd one is more pricey, topping at $66, but it has more colors, there’s like 3 shades of blue, a red, a nice pink, and a black. so obviously pay more, you get more. but yeah. none of those prices include shipping btw.

Agree with that solid + solid is a perfectly good combination. Solid + pattern usually works as well. Matching patterns (other than solid) is probably bad. Any two loud patterns are probably bad. A loud pattern and a subdued pattern might work -- when in doubt, look for a second opinion.

I think even if you just had a white long sleeve button up with a vest and nice slacks, that would be super hot.

It’s casual, but simple and I think it would work.

Edit: grey pants (silver?) and a nice scarlet vest.

Edit #2: It’s nothing like I described, but this is kind of cool. I would find something similar at a suit shop.

From Formal to informal:

Blue suit with a nice tie. It will work for weddings, funerals and very formal business meetings.
2 white dress shirts for the suit, 2 slightly colored dress shirts for the suit (e.g. light blue).
Sport coat with a light print. Something you can wear on a first date or to work.
2 "Professional" polo shirts see if you can get any with your industry logos on them (your company, suppliers, partners, customers, etc...)

If the company is more casual, more polo shirts and less dress shirts.

LPT: You can buy a suit off Amazon for less than $100 dollars. Sit on street corner for 3 days. Collect $100. Go to public library. Order suit to be sent to shelter.
