You're looking for "battery operated" Thomas trains, not to be confused with the "Track Master" Thomas trains. They fit on the standard wooden track sets and move by themselves.
We have several and they work great. Kiddo loves them.

I looked it up and it's $5,377.24 in 2019 american dollars.

Edit: For comparison, by searching "model train" on amazon sorted by price highest to lowest the most expensive item is over 50k and it's just a four car add on set. Kato also seems to make some train sets people are selling for 10k ish. The most expensive Lionel are all 4-6-6-4 steam locomotives at 2k. Also, here's a $7 Thomas Train if ya'll broke like me.

This electric Thomas works with the wood tracks I described above.

Just realized I might have to pick this up for our boy now that I know it exists.

...

Fine.

This little guy loves him some trains. His grandma gave him a wooden train track set, and these will work with it. They're in the "baby things" list.

Luckily, I already have earplugs, since his train noise is as loud as he can make it.

Thanks for the contest :-/ ... hugs

We have this one but unfortunately it's not powerful/grippy enough to go up the slopes it came with :-(

Oh man I've barely gotten started!

Ok so I've got a bunch of stuff in my shopping cart on amazon for payday so here's the plan.

So far I've bought for my son 3 Thomas the Train Trackmaster trains including the super hard to find Merlin.

I've bought him Number Bots from Lakeshore learning center which are transformers that are shaped like numbers.

I'm also getting him some Robert Munsch books.

My fiancee is getting a statue of Maria from the Assassin's Creed movie and some wireless headphones for her daily commute to work and I'll likely get her some Lord of the Rings stuff before the month is out.

My parents are getting a wifi extender. This one is kind of cheating because it's technically for me when I visit. They have a big house and aren't very computer savvy. Their internet sucks because their modem has crappy range and they don't know how to fix it even though I've advised them on several methods.

My Brother is getting a copy of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and his wife is getting a Color Me Mindful: Enchanted Creatures colouring book.

My Other Brother is getting a copy of Nier: Automata for his PS4 and his fiancee is getting a Lord of the Rings Evenstar Pendant and Jewelry Box.

It is an OO gauge Flying Scotsman (4472) in a L.N.E.R livery.

I found one on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Hornby-Flying-Scotsman-A1Class-Train/dp/B006ZL69JO

The train has had many modifications made to it during it's lifetime so there are differences between this one and the one in the video. Most notably it was converted from an A1 to an A3. The amazon link is for the A1 version and I think the video version is the A3 looking at the boiler.

A detailed explanation of the various changes, numbers and liveries the train has had can be found on wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class_A3_4472_Flying_Scotsman

edit: If you wanted a train similar in age to the one in the video I have no idea where you could find one stateside (I presume) other than the likes of ebay or seeing if any UK model stores ship to the US and have pre-owned items for sale online.

For track

For train

Not sure how much track you'd need to register as walking around, but that should be a good amount.

They planning on having another kid? We found these to be fun for both our son (who is almost 3) and his sister and their cousin (who are just over 1). That will win you some respect from the parents, and the Melissa & Doug brand makes a lot of cool toys for kids that age.

Otherwise, anything that has sounds/lights is guaranteed to be a hit with the kid. This one was the one that started our slow descent into madness, but you could also just find some kind of fire truck.

Duplo Lego and children's books of a favorite character would be good. Five Minute Stories are a series of anthology collections that you can pick one or two out of without going insane, and they have all sorts of characters (Thomas, Disney, Marvel, etc). Pete the Cat was a favorite in our house too.
