I'm not a lifter, but if the bottom of your cup folds that's a good sign of a bad fit. Your band also looks strained, which - since your underbust measurements are 33/31 and you're wearing a 34 - indicates your cup is probably too small. 34E may be too big, but I'd start with 34DD to get a better idea of how your muscle tissue comes into play.

There's some really lovely sports bras that can pull double duty if you want to stay wireless. Chantelle, Panache and Shock Absorber are three great options. If you're willing to try wired, Natori Feathers and/or Wacoal Embrace Lace are good picks. They both have stretchy bands (for comfort) and medium wires (for your lats) - also, Feathers is a shallow shape test bra. If you just want comfort and coverage, Aerie's bralettes are pretty popular.

And I'm one of those non-static people who switches bra sizes/shapes once a month. We exist!

u/imabratinfluence · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

You may like the feel of a 28 band, but you might also prefer a 30-- especially with Cleo and Panache bras since their wires are pretty hard.

As for determining your shape, that's really about how your boobs behave in a bra rather than how they act when naked so you'll need to try some unlined bras to be sure of your shape.

> Typically, the suggestion is to try:
>
> - Cleo Lily (even, projected, works well for short roots) or Cleo Hettie (the newer replacement)
> - Cleo Lucy (full-on-bottom, projected) or Cleo Kali (newer)
> - Cleo Marcie (full-on-top, projected; also works well for tall roots) or Cleo Lottie

You can also check out the Shape Guide for more suggestions on bras that fit specific shapes. Amazon often has free shipping and returns, so they're often a great way to pin down your shape. The other suggestion for pinning down your size range and shape is Bratabase listings which are often lower in price than retail, although there are no returns; or r/braswap.

Good luck!

I have wide roots and am somewhat shallow and went from a 38B to a 38E. I've found that Freya's balconies pull at the edge of the cup, then pucker with loose space below--compare the top two bras versus the bottom one for examples--and that Freya's half cup bras (the bottom bra in the pictures) tend to fit me better. I'm also full on top, which means there's more breast tissue above the nipple than below it, and that also helps me fill out the half cups. Your fullness may be different, but the openness of the half cup may help a bit more with shallowness than the closed off top of the balconies (/u/annoyingbranerd please correct me if I'm wrong!).

Freya Patsy may be a good option to try, and if you have Amazon Prime, make it your friend! I highly recommend, though, going into Target (or Kohl's, or even Walmart) and trying on a couple of 36DD bras. It's a fairly common size to track down, and trying on the size that's right for you is going to make a world of difference.

u/t_maia · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

Phew. It is a beautiful dress, but totally impractical if you need the support of a bra. Pray that the bodice of the dress offers enough support for your breasts once properly fitted to your body, because I cannot think of any strapless underwear solution that would fit under something with such a low back.

If the whole back of the dress was lace you could get away with a clear-back strapless bra like the one from Debenhams, but this? Nope.

Apart from hoping the bodice has support, you could with experimenting with taping.

EDIT: This in size 7 might be worth a try.

u/vmbuford · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

Okay, if you've tried flirtelle and you think you need narrow wires, and you're full on bottom, I'd say try Cleo Lucy or Marcie. Marcie is more for even breasts, while Lucy tends to work better on FOB breasts. You could also probably try Freya, which also has narrow wires, and most of their models are FOB compatible. The deco may work for you (it has narrow-ish wires), or one of their padded halfcups may do you well. For cleo, you'll probably want to stick to a 32 band, but you may need to go down to a 30 in some Freya's, as they tend to be stretchier.

You should be able to order these all (although, for some odd reason, I can't find the cleos on nordstrom's site even though I know they carry them) for free shipping and free returns (or maybe try them on in store at) Nordstrom. Also, amazon prime, if you've got it.

These other bras are also recommeded for FOB:

  • Bravissimo Alana
  • Freya Arabella
  • Panache Tango II Balconette
  • Goddess Kiera

Depending on how FOB you are, the CK Entice may also work for you (although, it has been discontinued, tends to work better for even shapes), and you should probably go up one cup size for it, so 32FF.

Do you live in Southern CA? I've heard good things about Jennette's bras as well as Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack for fittings and bra shopping.

u/hurrrrrmione · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Ah, okay.

I would recommend sticking with 32DDD (UK 32E) for now and trying bras with a different shape.

Just like breasts come in all sorts of different shapes, so do bras, so in addition to finding the right size you also have to find bras whose shape is right for your breasts. What you're describing, both the space at the top and the space at the bottom, indicates that this bra is too shallow (not deep enough) for you. Victoria's Secret bras are shallow in shape so they're too shallow for a lot of people. I think you'd do better in fabric seamed cups (aka unlined bras) like this and this. I'd be more than happy to recommend you some bras to try if you'd like.

u/DistractedMyth · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Don't laugh, but part of the reason I didn't want to give up Victoria's Secret is because of their sports bras. I know you're outside their matrix, but you may be able to sister size into a 34DDD - or a 32DDD, depending on measurements, etc - and it's definitely worth a try. All of my old sports bras from there have lasted forever. They worked really well for running, physical labor, and a Tough Mudder, considering I had to sister size up twice, 28E->30DD->32D.

My Panache Underwire is great with regular straps, but I wouldn't recommend racer back while upside down. There's one listed on Bratabase for only $20. I'd definitely recommend Shock Absorber, though.

u/greyarea_ · 5 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Freya Deco Plunge or the Deco Half Cup are popular (though the plunge style doesn't work on everybody) and come in a 28D and 28DD. The Deco Plunge runs big in the cup/band, so probably try the 28D for her. I'm a 30DD/E and it gives me nice oomph and cleavage, if that's what she's looking for

http://www.amazon.com/Freya-Deco-Underwire-Moulded-Plunge/dp/B003L1NB9W

Pricey, but Mimi Holliday has super cute bras that come in 28 bands, as well as 30C and 30D

http://www.damaris.co.uk/mimi-holliday-lace-fluoro-neon-wizz-bang-ss13-361-bows-fluro-summer-pink-green-silk

I'm a newbie here but those are my suggestions if she's looking for something that feels and looks similar to the typical Victoria Secret bra but with the right fit!

u/deng-meowping · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

I am the same size and struggle from a similar problem. I’d highly suggest trying out some Panache bras. They hold you in like grandma bras but also look super cute at the same time.

My faves right now are the Elan bra and this sports bra. Good luck!

u/dehue · 4 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Do you have a Nordstroms near you by any chance? They have some 30G bras from UK brands that your girlfriend could try on in person.

For me, better fitted bras can make my boobs look smaller in some cases because they lift them and make my waist stand out. It does generally depend on the bra style and your own shape though. I would encourage her to try on different styles and see what she prefers.

The one bra that I really like is panache sports bra. It has an underwire and comes in bra sizes and is super comfy. Its great for both exercise and times when you just want a comfy bra! I really like the shape that it gives me and it definitely makes my profile a lot more flattening and even smaller in some cases than my old bras. Here is a link to amazon for it. (More funky colors are often on discount, although the full price was totally worth it for me).

I also like the cari panache spacer bra. Here is me in 28G which is one size smaller than 30G: https://imgur.com/a/T4DSc It's a bit too small for me, but still gives a fairly nice profile, especially if I wear something not super tight. Link to amazon

u/atheologist · 8 pointsr/ABraThatFits

I'm getting somewhere in the 38C/D range, but it does sound like you have a shallow shape, which is why you're finding that smaller cups appear to fit.

There should be plenty of bras available in your size on Amazon, which is pretty neutral/non-obvious packaging. I'd say it's worth trying Freya Marvel or Deco, which comes in soft cup and wired versions.

u/lolololori · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

thanks so much -- I own the seamless molded tshirt bra and it's great, but i can't wear anything lower cut with it and it buckles a lot when I lean over. I have such a small clavicle that it's just too large of a gore. I haven't been able to convince my usual bra shop to get me into the Jana ... I think for reasons that seemed very valid at the time but that I now no longer remember.

*and yes! I'd love recs for other brands!!

u/Shanakitty · 3 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Looking at your measurements, I'm getting a 26F (usually, the leaning bust is most accurate in this size range). Since 26 bands are not widely available and are almost always custom order, that would sister-size to 28E(DDD). However, from your description, I'm wondering if you have conical breasts. If so, conical breasts sometimes need a smaller size than measurements suggest, so 28D and 28DD would also be worth trying. As others have noted 28D has the same volume as your current bras. 28C is possible, but I would try 28D/DD first, especially since they should be easier to find.

It's also possible that you are simply averagely projected, wide-set, and fuller on bottom. FoB breasts often have difficulty with molded cups, because they are wide and shallow, and hold their shape. They expect more upper fullness than you have, and don't have enough room for projection at the bottom. Cleo Lucy and Cleo Kali are good diagnostic bras to try that should work fairly well for you if this is your shape.

If you are conical, hopefully someone who is more knowledgeable about conical shapes will have some suggestions for you. In the meantime, there are a few in the thread that I linked above. You also might want to check out the shallow guide for more suggestions. Your measurements have enough difference to suggest you might be averagely projected rather than shallow, however.

u/luftballoons · 4 pointsr/ABraThatFits

All the regulars should have that size (Cleo/Panache, Freya, Curvy Kate, etc), but american brands (btemptd, wacoal, etc) may list it as 30DDD.

I'm seeing a ton on Amazon. Here's the Lucy. Based on /u/FTLFrenchTheLlama3's recommendation, you could try the Juna or the Ciao Bella. The Natori Feathers comes in 30DDD and works for a variety of shapes (and, when I previously wore an incorrect 32D it was my favorite bra).

Nordstrom also sells your size online and has free shipping/returns.

u/annoyingbranerd · 3 pointsr/ABraThatFits

>but I don't even fill the cups.

Look up orange-in-a-glass effect.

If the bra is too small in the cup and or too projected and not shallow and wide enough in the cup, the cup will sit on top of your breasts like a too small party hat.

The cup will be empty and many people with small breasts think it is too large, when it is actually too small.

>With my forms, I wear a Wonder Bra 7409 in 38DD, which seems pretty good in the band, but the cups are far too big for my natural tissue.

This is probably because the cups of the Wonderbra are projected. You most likely need something shallower, like the Natori Feathers in 38 C/D or so.

https://www.amazon.com/Natori-Womens-Feathers-Contour-Plunge/dp/B007DKZCS0/

u/[deleted] · 4 pointsr/ABraThatFits

It's a little different, but you might like the Freya Deco Plunge. I think it runs big in the band and cup, so a 28FF might work best.

u/legal_beagle · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

I have a set of these that I use to keep my bra straps from showing when I wear tank tops. They just help keep the shirt strap attached to the bra strap so they don't end up in wonkity different places on my shoulders. :)

u/aboobaccount · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

You probably already tried something like this to fix the too wide straps?:

https://www.amazon.com/Maidenform-Womens-Elastic-Strap-Holder/dp/B0083QLQ6U/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=bra+strap+connector&qid=1557782040&s=gateway&sr=8-3

The panache Andorra has less wide set straps and the same side support in the cups like the Ana. There is also a plunge version you could try. But you may get a pointy shape from it if you have soft breast tissue. I’m not sure if the Ava is also a similar cut. At least it looks similar:

https://www.bratabase.com/browse/panache/ava-plunge-bra-9396/

If the gore is your only problem you could try to bend it away from your chest a little. These things also soften up after the first wash.

The only Freya bra I know with narrow wires and less wide set straps is the Rio. But it has a slightly high and wide gore.

I guess you will have better luck with Comexim. Maybe you will find something on /r/braswap or ebay.

u/TheSorcerersCat · 7 pointsr/ABraThatFits

You can get a low back converter, but your other request sounds like a 34B may not be an ideal size for you.

A well fitted bra will lift without making breasts look big, if anything it will make them look a bit smaller. I second trying the calculator here, there may be a better size out there.

u/LolosterGoldfish · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits
  • If you haven't already, please check your measurements according to the side bar. I can't emphasize this enough and if I sound rude about this I don't mean to, it's just important to finding a properly fitted bra of any type!
  • How backless are we talking? They make low back converter straps that hook up directly to your bra and depending on how the back of the dress looks that could be an option for you. Typically you wear them so that it hooks directly in the back, loops around your stomach and then hooks to the other side. You can also wear them in such a way that you hook it to the back, bring the wing forward, wrap it around your back, and then hook it up to the other wing (also brought forward). The low-back converter strap method would probably give you the most support, though if it is also a strapless dress I don't recommend using one of these with the "bring it forward first" method because I imagine that it would fall down.
  • Depending on your size the stick on backless bras may or may not work for you. There are a few different types of these, but keep in mind none of them will give you the same support as an actual bra (at least as far as the information I've gathered so far suggests). There's the silicone chicken cutlet type, the cloth chicken cutlet type, the underwire type, the U-plunge type, the disposable adhesive type, and then there's this type which encapsulates each breast, just to name a few. The problem with many of them (though not all of them) is that they label their sizes as "a-cup," "b-cup," "c-cup", etc. They assume that all a-cups (etc.) hold the same volume. This is completely inaccurate so trying to gauge your actual size is very difficult. Mostly you just have to buy it and try it multiple times until you find your size.
  • For example: I wear a UK 30G and in a Nubra Original I found the c-cup to be just slightly too large and I ended up going with a b-cup. Though I've also heard from someone else who was about the same size as me that the c-cup and even the d-cup was way too small for them. I think I might be shallow shaped and I don't believe the other person was so breast shape may be an issue when finding one that fits as well.
  • The Maidenform underwire one that I linked to does list sister sizes, so if you have been sized by the methods on the size bar and if a sister size is available then it could possibly fit. A possible fit issue I could see with these is that the wires could be too wide or too narrow depending. The very last adhesive bra that I listed to is probably the most accurate in terms of sizing, but from what I understand they aren't very low-cut if that is a concern.
  • Another option you could try if you aren't concerned about support in the least is to use nipple covers and fashion tape to keep the dress stuck down to your skin.

Having gotten through saying all of that, if you have been sized by the methods used here in r/abrathatfits and you end up getting one of these bras, I am currently working on collecting data in a survey so that a more accurate sizing guide could be created. Please fill it out and let us know how it goes for you, but again, only if you've been sized by our methods (and again if my repetitive nature about this is coming off as rude it's not intended to be - I just want to get the most accurate information out there for other people). And if anyone else is reading this, the survey is still going on. I've only had 2 responses to it so far.
u/cleverdistraction · 3 pointsr/ABraThatFits

It will specify. It will say free returns next to the price. Like (random example) this bra in black in a 28D. http://www.amazon.com/Cleo-Womens-Lucy-Balconnet-Black/dp/B004D2V9JC/

u/the_real_kellbot · 8 pointsr/ABraThatFits

While I agree with the caveat about Amazon's sales often just being marketing (using camelcamelcamel to check prices is a good idea) it's a great time for folks who are unsure of their size to try a bunch of different things without shelling out a huge pile of money.

Unfortunately you still have to hunt around to find the size / color combo that happens to be on sale. But I manage to find a couple of different Cleo t-shirt bras to try out for less than $10 each.

So I found this bra that has a clear back strap, clear removable shoulder straps AND tape so you can wear it completely strap/backless. However, it only comes in A/B/C/D options. I'm a 34DD and also wear 32E. So what would y'all suggest I get for a size? Because each size services multiple bands, i'm leaning toward a smaller one. These are the options:

2 = 34A, 32B

3 = 36A, 34B, 32C

4 = 38A, 36B, 34C, 32D

5 = 38B, 36C, 34D

6 = 38C, 36D

u/Rouknette · 20 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Get nipple covers. They are simple and usually pretty cheap and will act as a barrier between you and the elements. I don't know if you're particularly hairy but if you are I do suggest removing the hair around your nipples as they usually attach with a mild adhesive and that doesn't bode well for fuzzy people. You could probably wear a bra but it would need to be pretty padded and fit flush against your skin to lessen the irritation. If possible let them heal first if there is any visible chafing/bleeding.

Here are some cheap silicone ones on Amazon; they're only 2.99.

yeah sure, I would suggest one of these 2 products.

You might see I guess if looking hard part of the clip on outside of clothing, but it should be more sightly than a fallen bra strap, and the peace of mind of been able to relax your posture without worrying about the problem.

A balconette and a longline bra and here's my Natori bra

But how can the freya and Natori fit so well when they're different sizes?

u/Heliotrope14 · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

I've tried very few bras in a 30 band, because I haven't able to find them! However, the best bra I've found so far is [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Simone-Perele-Womens-Caressence-Plunge/dp/B00L4WGUCU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416171426&sr=8-1&keywords=bra+3D+caressence) by Simone Perele in a 30E (I was just sticking to US sizes in my post for simplicity). The Reflex by Natori in 32D fits well, although there's a small amount of empty space at the top of the cup. The Natori Hidden Glamour in 32D didn't have enough immediate projection (the wires sat below my boobs, and there were wrinkles in the bottom of the cup). I also tried a bunch of Aerie bras in 32D, and many if them seemed OK but not great. Not sure how helpful any if that is, though...the styles people talk about on this sub seem mostly to be available only online.

u/Atojiso · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Amazon has them! Not for cheap, mind you, but they should ship in time.

Maddie & Deco plunge & Deco 1/2cup in black. The last comes in 28DD/30D in nude, so maybe not the right size for the color.

u/Pine21 · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

/u/raewild

Both of those are on Amazon. Cleo Lucy and Panache Andorra.

u/trillium_waste · 3 pointsr/ABraThatFits

I'm 34H (US) and used to wear the Moving Comfort Juno Bra for the longest time. I recently got this Panache bra! and cannot STAND the Juno for the life of me. I ran a marathon in the Panache bra and had some pretty bad chafing, but I don't think it was from the way it fits.. some body glide would have helped for that long of a distance.

u/drawingdwarf · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

Absolutely no clue if this would be a decent fit for you, but the Harlequin Tiffany Basque is crazy cheap on Amazon Prime in your size. Could be worth trying out just to see. It's not particularly fancy looking, but it does come in white.

u/AwfulWaffleWalker · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

I did get this one for $12.75 the other day (legit, it arrived today).
