Always be mindful of local laws so you don't get into trouble.
This book seems to have favorable reviews and is not too lengthy. I think you can just download it as a PDF. I don't believe it's possible to make good absinthe without doing some legwork (i.e. reading shit)
I really like St. George's absinthe and one of their head distillers, Lance Winters, has a brief video that I really enjoy where he discusses the process.
Good luck and if you have any success please report it back to the subreddit as we could use more: "hey I did it" instead of "how do I do it?" posts. It's fun to celebrate the success of others.
I bought a new one (many years ago), looks like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Glass-Absinthe-Fountain-Two-Faucets/dp/B00PUN1CPY/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1549469133&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=absinthe+fountain&psc=1
The spigots are plastic, but it does the job. The nicer ones are all closer to $200.
Lots of good deals here:

Good luck!
Good on you, then!
Frankly, I browsed your user history and wrongly made an assumption. I like it too, for the ritual, the sense of danger, and because I quite enjoy anise and licorice. It's something that many people aren't as keen on when you explain all the details.
Oh, you're in California? You're in luck. St. George Spirits is a distillery in your general area that makes absinthe.
I'm sure many liquor stores carry at least one brand of absinthe. Here are reviews of absinthes available in the US. And this page should give you an idea of what might be available in a California liquor store. I would recommend checking the Wormwood Society for reviews before buying anything, since a bottle can be quite an investment.
And if you're looking to get into the whole aesthetic, might I suggest a Pontarlier glass?
Thanks for the clarification. When I saw this all I could think was, "I enjoy the flavor of absinthe, to have that flavor for a minute or two straight? That's a but much."
How do they taste? At the very least it's a cool looking tin.
Also after a quick google it looks like you can pick up these same mints off
Amazon for $6.
If you're popping tops, you might consider getting something like this http://www.amazon.com/Vacu-Vin-0981450-Vacuum-Stoppers/dp/B000GA3KCE/ref=pd_sim_k_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0SE0FPQVYGJW7FKC49Y6
I like to store mine this way under vacuum to avoid oxidation. But it probably wouldn't be a problem if you're going to drink it within the year.
Try their website:

I also found a seller on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Kubler-Absinthe-106-Proof-Liter/dp/B005HQNB0S
If you can find a copy of it, "Absinthe: A Sip of Seduction" has a list (though obviously not complete) of absinthe oriented bars around the world.

May want to also try the Wormwood Society and Fee Verte forums.

Dilute this in some water, and there you go.
