I'm happy to help anyone who would like to make one of their own- it's super fun (total cost was around $180- that includes shipping of the pillow and pillow case).

I commissioned the art from Ashley Swaby, got the pillowcase printed via Arts Cow, and got the pillow from Amazon.

Can I buy dakimakura inner 72"x20" like this and have it tailored to fit in 160x50cm pillow case or is it impossible? Also are there any decent dakimakura inners on amazon.com, that ship internationally for free? 60" x 20" size would be good enough. Is this ok? I have $50 gift card to spend on amazon.

I use a free and clear type of detergent when I wash them. Like this one. Put them in the washing machine on cold and using a washing bag for delicates like these.

If I want to make them smell girly, I just go to the department store and ask for samples of perfumes. Or grab those paper samples from a fashion magazine. Or you can also buy some of those fragrance sprays that cost like $5 because they're diluted.

I don't have that many covers right now I figured I might as well for a few bucks. Hopefully they fit properly.

Do you use hangers to hang them as well? Or some kind of clips?

For short term, clean them before storing them and store them in a zip lock bag to keep stuff out. Personally, I bought these boards to fold my covers around to keep them looking nice and the boards have a neutral pH so they wont deteriorate the cloth.

I've seen many users that just store their collection on closet shelves. I use a box. A drawer should be fine as long as your not just smashing them to the back with no protection. It still keeps the covers out of direct sunlight which is one of their main enemies.

For long term, you want them in a dry, cool, dark place. You also may want to upgrade to a bigger storage than bags to not trap in moisture. Best practices would be the same as storing any cloth for long storage, so you can look up websites like this for reference.

What makes a quality pillow, As long as ita 150,50cm and it's cotton it works and feels good right?, is there a difference or something I should look for in a pillow?

It doesn't have to be that, you can go to your nearest department store and ask for "Body Pillow" or "Long Pillow". There are quite some brands out there, Serta, LUXE.

Or do Amazon search for "Body Pillow", here is one sample that I found. Another one. The size of 20" 60" should be sufficient for dakimakura covers.

Also, /u/DakimakuraGuy sorry I just realized that my most of my covers are 150x50 AND 140x50.. Just because I have some shorter ones, I thought the longer ones are 16050 and the shorter ones are 15050. So yes, COSPAs and Dengekis are still using 15050, while Movic covers are 140*50.

There is such a thing if you’re willing to pick one up. You’ll need a vacuum to utilize it but should be what you’re looking for.

Should I perhaps buy This, and just add from it until it's firm enough? I assume this is the same type of filling.


I'll also have to look into re-sewing the pillow after I tear the end open, though. Damng.

I haven't tried this yet but I've seen people use these things:

They have teeth so when removing them you want to be careful, so as to not tear off threads. I was a bit careless with adjusting one of the clips and it loosened a thread.
