Here is my advice, I own two matte bikes. I prefer them to gloss finishes but you must take care of it obviously.

The only 2 chemicals that should ever touch the paint is
http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Beasleys-MP20D12-Matte-Cleanser/dp/B005FQVYT0 and Harley Denim cleaner.

Keep the matte cleanser on hand, use it like you would a clay bar on a normal finish. If you get hard water spots, tar, or overspray this is the stuff that will clean it off without damaging the finish. After every ride just wipe down with Harley denim cleaner. I like the Harley stuff and it is easy to get with so many local dealers.

If you prefer a deeper color, and a bit of shine you can use Plexus. It gives the finish a semi-gloss look.

Some other tips, don't skimp on the microfiber you use. Purchase high quality microfiber towels. Cobra miracle microfiber towels are good. Keep them clean.

Don't neglect your wheels. You should seal them with Duragloss 105 and 601. Clean the wheels really we'll with dawn dish soap then mix the 105 and 601 together in a 4:1 ratio. You only need to seal them about once a year, keep them clean them with a quick detailer.

Welcome to the family! I love mine so much, I bought a second one to keep in the house ;)

X-Press spray is a magical. Think detailer spray, but it actually does something. Dries clear, so you can use it on any surface. I usually spray my car while it's still wet after washing, then just dry it off with a microfiber. Water beads off like everything was rain-x'ed

Matte is a pain and needs a little more frequent care, but it's worth it. I bought that bike when it first came out, and what you'll find is there are very few products on the market that aren't for a gloss finish. Gentle soap and water are all you need for cleaning, and never use any wax or gloss finish detailing products.

The detail spray I used is called Wizard's Wipedown matte finish for motorcycles.

Harley Davidson sells a similar product in their showrooms for their "denim" finish.

Yeah man, just moved into a place with no garage or cover and was agonizing over how to keep my Monster from being an easy target. Found an article by a guy who used to steal bikes for a living. Said those disc locks are toys, the built in steering lock just takes a few firm kicks, and if nothing else two big dudes can just pick a bike up. He recommended the lock below, and make sure its through the FRAME (not swingarm, tire comes off quick) and anchored to something truly stuck in the ground. I've got mine on a big utility pole. Keep the outside of the cover dirty, but feel free to brush out/rinse the inside every once in awhile. If you can, find a place out of view of the main road but under lighting, or consider installing an outdoor solar powered/motion activated light (can be found for like $10-$15)

Also interesting to note, this once-thief said don't bother with GPS trackers. Apparently very few idiots steal and keep a bike. For the most part they'll find the tracker during teardown or damage the bike so badly you don't want it back anyway.

Cheers

Sounds great!

Pro tip: I use to have an 899 and changed the headlight leds. Quick 5 min install and it makes it so much better.

Looks to be something like this. Wish there was a way that blocked less dash.

So there could be a sort of things. Remove the cap and release all suction and make sure the rubber is still in good condition. The master cylinder may have an issue but those things are rocks and usually last until a crash. Is the slave cylinder new or stock?

If you haven't flushed it yet then do that first. Doesn't take very long, grab a mighty vac like system and some [brake fluid] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LEYJO4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

I'm 5'7" and have a 959. In the manual, the preload for the rear shock is supposed to be 17mm. I set mine at 15mm which causes more rider sag in the rear (not a lot). Also, another thing that helped me were these wolverine boots from Amazon. The boots added an inch to an inch and a half to my height. With those two things, I'm able to touch the ground better and don't have a problem with the pegs.

Previous owner installed a battery maintainer (this one: Ducati Battery Maintainer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004J66C9E), so I just plugged it to to an outlet.

I didn't but it's recommended to do so. Make sure to get the short insert.

If you're worried, about the strength of the threads then you can use the strainer bolt instead of the drain plug for your oil changes

If you're anal enough, you can put the 3M clear bra shit over the top of your tail fairings. A 6x60" roll will only set you back 18$. I find that no matter how protective manufacturers are of the bottom of their luggage, it's never enough.

So I bough some cheap $30 mirrors for my Buell. They kind of look cheap from close up. But I can't live without them now...

This time around I bough the Arrow mirrors... They haven't arrived yet.

With all the things I still want to buy, I made this to illustrate my new problem.

You really do want the swingarm to be unsupported to properly adjust the chain.

I recommend getting a motorcycle jack. It's basically a cradle that gets the wheels off the ground.

Here's an example of one from Amazon.

Kyle from SeaCoast is in this great video on adjusting the chain on a SSS Ducati. He really knows his stuff.

Ducati Single sided swingarm chain adjustment.

Here's Chris from California Cycleworks as well.

But yes, you can use a floor jack. I'd put a block of wood or something between the jack and the cases so you don't scratch anything, though. You might have some issues with the exhaust header but ideally you'll have the front chocked or on a stand and then put the floor jack under the motor to get the rear wheel off the ground. You don't need much height.

Very doable. Make sure you follow the chain adjustment procedure from the videos! You can chew up a chain and cause damage to your sprockets and possibly your cases if the chain ends up too tight or too loose.

Amazon. It was delivered in three days and took about ten minutes to install with only a screw driver. And it's bright as hell.

I lost mine within the first month of getting my bike. Now I just opt for a cheap helmet net I got at the motorcycle store.

Cons: if someone wants to steal your helmet, it's really no hassle. Then again, if someone really wanted your helmet, a thin wire probably wouldn't stop them. My insurance against helmet theft is a cheap helmet no one wants to steal.

Pros: securely fastens helmet to bike, can throw a helmet under there while riding (couldn't do that with wire cable), can also use net for holding other stuff while riding, like groceries.
