Ok I looked into that brand and their whole shtick pisses me off. That mask is so overpriced for what is essentially diluted honey with added preservatives and some other cheap ingredients AND for that price (50US)??... I think ppl would be better off just using honey on its own because its a great cheap, organic humectant. Sorry lol *rant over*
Anyway! I don't know how you feel about sheet-masks but I recently purchased this: a Kose Clear Turn Plumping All in 1 Retinol Face Mask 50 pack....I didn't order it on eBay or Amazon (where it retails for about 25 USD), I purchased it from a Japanese cosmetics store here in Toronto for around $20 CAD (about 15-16 US) so you can definitely find it cheaper in store!
I find it's very hydrating and it does contain a bit of retinol - so hopefully it's not too irritating for you - which should gently exfoliate/brighten your face while hydrating your skin at the same time. I usually leave it on for about 10-12 mins ( you can leave it for more but I find it's too much to leave on more than that) and then I use the mask to smear the rest of the serum all over my decollete, hands, legs and thighs! That's how much you'll have left over. I'm actually using it right now as I type this.
The "plumping" effect usually lasts two to three days for me, and I find I don't even need much foundation just some concealer and a mattifying powder on top because the mask really leaves a nice glow and your skin is so soft afterwards.
It's really hard to find an esthetic school with a background in science. You might have to suck it up and learn science stuff from here and /r/skincarescience. You also can read books. Acne Rx is highly recommended for estheticians who want to increase their knowledge on acne. You can order Acne Rx through Vivant for only $25. You have to call their customer service to order it. Cosmecuticals and Cosmetic Practice is excellent. It contains ingredients with scientific articles. Avoid Dr. Leslie Baumann's books. They are inconsistent and messy.
I visited three different schools and none of them have modalities except basic ones like microdermabrasion and galvanic. One of the schools doesn't have lecture or education. They provide the answer books for the students to pass the written exam for the state board which is why estheticians are so bad these days! I picked a school that has almost all modalities such as microcurrent, LED light, hydradermabrasion, dermarolling, and radio frequency. The teacher is pretty good. She is familiar with the skin anatomy, ingredients, and basic chemistry. She follows Dr. James Fulton's skincare plan for acne. In my opinion, the class went so well in the beginning as we had fewer students. We have increased from 8 students to 24 students now. It has greatly affected the quality in education. It's a clusterfuck right now. :(
Most estheticians believe that we go to school to learn how to pass the state board tests and nothing more. It's up to us to continue with the education and trends through continuning education (CE) programs. You will spend a lot of money on CE programs more than your school. I have already spent almost 7k on CE courses for dermaplaning, basic and advanced microneedling, plasma lift therapy, and oncology esthetic program. It's better to do CE programs while you are in school because some of them will offer discounts to the esthetic students. Hope this will help you in making your decision.
Sorry, a link would have helped lol! These are the ones I get: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E0PWNVO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_46kVCbWYV7XHD
Yes they're very soft. I give them to my lash clients and facial clients :)
I have this one:

These 3 are my bibles for my practice.
I use the cosmetic ingredient dictionary so regularly that its falling apart, and ethics of touch was hugely helpful for me to get into the right mindset.
The milady standard is what's taught in all NIC exam prep esthetics courses as of 2018, and its everything you need.

Seconded. Look for a tower machine that had each machine located within its own box like this (I don't own this model specifically but mine is similar);

That way if your high frequency goes down, you are not down entirely.
They also sell these tweezers for ingrown hair.
