I switched from console for better framerate since I didn't care about "next-gen" 4k graphics at 30fps. I quit controller cold turkey and never looked back. Unfortunately, there is a high barrier to entry so I like to help people switch and have a good experience instead of pure frustration and end up reverting back to using a controller.

  1. After you've decided on your keybinds, watch a video on build techniques and practice the ones you want a few times each day. Then there are discords that host FFA game modes in creative to practice fighting others without having to queue, loot and farm, die, repeat. I actually think the latest storm wars maps are close to realistic and more fun than Champs arena games, so it's the only thing I've played outside of WC competitions lately. Kovaak's is a popular "game" on steam used to train your aim specifically.

  2. I think you're right, blindly copying 1 person is not be the best strategy. But, changing muscle memory is hard and pyramid is considered one of the best builds in the current meta imo, so you should try to get used to using all 4 or it might become harder later. I use Q(wall), E(ramp), C(floor), V(roof) for my builds using my thumb C and V (this was hard to get used to but worth it imo). Consider turning on sprint by default and using left shit for edit. CTRL is crouch and R is reload in every single game I play. I also recommend getting a big mouse pad and setting your sensitivity low if you want to get truly good aim.

This keybinding philosophy guide is pretty decent at describing the reasoning behind choosing certain keybinds over others.

I also highly recommend using these scroll wheel keybinds many of which could definitely be considered unfair advantage.

  3. This is a good segue into my final piece of advice. Unfortunately if you haven't noticed, Epic Games does not seem to care what happens to the "competitive" scene of Fortnite and they definitely don't care about optimizing the game for PC... So I doubt any of those features are coming anytime soon. I recommend also getting into another game like CSGO, Apex Legends, or Halo on PC when it launches to help practice general mnk mechanics as well. Public Fortnite matches will likely just frustrate you until you've built up some muscle memory (estimated 2-4 weeks to get back to your level on controller if you practice daily).

Feel free to dm me if you have more questions.

The cheapest high quality mouse is, in my opinion at least, the Model O. A crappy mouse will make high level aiming nearly impossible, so I wouldn’t cheap out on that.

For keyboards, as long as it doesn’t have ghosting issues, it’ll be fine. I used this one up until recently and it never really caused my any issues, but if you wanna go with something cheaper that’s not a problem.

For mousepads, you can find decently sized relatively cheap ones anywhere, I currently have [this one](SteelSeries QcK Gaming Surface - Large Cloth - Best Selling Mouse Pad of All Time - Optimized For Gaming Sensors - Maximum Control https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UVRU6G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aIhYDbPVEHSKJ) which is both a great size and relatively cheap, but there are tons just like it as well if you look around.

This stuff is amazing. I suffer the same issue until a friend of mine shipped this to me. It works perfectly and I am about 30% through the first bottle and it’s been roughly 3-4 months of use. Shake well, play with very small beads on fingertips and a larger bead in palm and rub in. When your hands get sweaty/oily again just rinse with water and dray and it’s like you just put it on again. Usually I get 1-2 hours of extremely dry hands before I have to do the rinse. In a 7 hour grind I may apply it 2-3 times depending on what I’m doing and how sweaty I’m trying to get.

Edit: place small beads on fingertips*

You need a better hard drive. 100% disk usage is what is making the buildings/textures not load in. As far as fps, the only fix to this is getting better specs. The hard drive I recommend is this: https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Cache-Desktop-Drive-WD10EZEX/dp/B0088PUEPK/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?crid=3RTL7HA4RL1M1&keywords=western+digital+-+caviar+blue+1+tb+3.5%22+7200rpm+internal+hard+drive&qid=1549660251&s=Electronics&sprefix=caviar+%2Celectronics%2C162&sr=1-1-fkmrnull. It is cheap and will help fix your issue with 100% disk usage.

Check this out https://www.amazon.co.uk/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mouse-Pad/dp/B00WAA2704/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1549017415&sr=8-1&keywords=steelseries%2Bqck&th=1 it’s probably the best XXL mousepad out there. The glide on it is really good and the padding is quite thick meaning it’s really comfy

Get one of these

and a pair of these to wear over

Also you can try putting a couple of thick layers of tape on the mouse buttons. Not having to curl your fingers as much to click can drastically change your grip. For example I had to throw on some extra mouse skates on my side mouse buttons because I didn't like the depth the plastic pieces needed to reach the switches on the PCB.

In your case, would look for something much thicker. Maybe find these https://i.imgur.com/1g6iVfF.jpg at a local store cut them out to fit on the left/right mouse1/2 buttons and stack additional ones until it's comfortable.

It's a cylinder of hard foam. You lay on it and roll around. If it doesn't help, it feels amazing on your upper back; especially if you sit all day.

If you're already exercising, I would go see a professional. They can better recommend exercises and stretches specific to your needs.

This is the mouse I use by the way:

https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-Ergonomic-Optical-Vertical-Buttons/dp/B009D9CZ5C/ref=sr_1_2

It looks stupid but it cleared up my problems instantly and it tracks well enough that I can keep up in this game and other shooters and RTS games just fine. The only problem is that the thumb buttons are difficult to press without interrupting your regular grip so I use one only for placing a marker/pinging only. I believe Logitech makes a better mouse that has a similar shape to this.

my hands sweat violently when i hold anything. playing smash with my friends sucks cuz their joycons are always soaked when they get them back lol. fucks up my aim a lot too because my hand slips all the time. i got this off of amazon a few years ago and totally forgot i had it until last week. helps a ton but dries the fuck out your hands. you just put a pea sized dot on your hands and rub it in. feels sticky at first but dries in like 30 seconds. it lasts a full gaming session easily. it usually lasts me the whole day but gradually wears off throughout the day. some of it comes off when you wash your hands too, but not much. i recommend it if you have sweaty ass palms like me.

edit: here's the link . it's 15 bucks but will last you awhile because you only need to use a very small bit of it.

You shouldn’t have to handicap yourself here. I go to alot of fighting game tournaments and use a ps3 arcade stick, some games be on different consoles so i use this.
