I would say invest in some super grip tape since you can't really buy hoops on Amazon. This stuff is absolutely amazing and amazon is the only place I could find to buy it for a reasonable price. You can put it on the inside of any hoop that you may get in the future. It makes your hoop stick to everything so leg hooping and on body hooping is a breeze even with clothes on.

Also, with this order you get 2 rolls, and I cut mine into thirds so I have enough to put on all my hoops if I wanted to!

Edit: Sorry, I realize this is kind of unrelated. I was just thinking if you're looking to buy something for hooping from amazon specifically, this is an idea. So when you get your smaller hoop you can tape it up, it makes learning tricks much easier. I know its kind of a future investment, but I love mine so much I thought I might share the joy!

Edit 2: I found a seller on amazon that sells poly pro hoops for pretty cheap. Polypro is super light, they wont bruise you. If you like the size of the one you have, measure it and get a poly pro in the same size, or perhaps a little smaller if you're ready for the challenge!

Build some! Get some hard plastic irrigation tubing from Lowes or Home Depot, a few connectors, and some duct tape/grip tape or sand paper. If you know someone with a saw, great, if not you'll want to get a pipe cutter. Building your own is fun and while it seems spendy, I've gotten at least 5 hoops from a roll and have been able to downsize at will. You'll probably want to tape the hoop for added weight, and while gaff tape is nice and great for grip, duct tape is a bit cheaper and does a good enough job.

Congratulations on 3 months sober, it's inspiring to hear hooping has helped!

Gnar Hoops sells on amazon, it looks like for $25 you can only get a basic polypro, which will be perfect for practice but won't be in a fancy color or have any fancy tape.

Here's a link to a 36" which I think will be perfect for your height / skill level: http://www.amazon.com/36-Polypro-Safest-Fitness-Development/dp/B00PFZBSN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422071171&sr=8-1&keywords=polypro+hula+hoop

Just remember that polypro is a LOT lighter than homemade hoops and it'll take some time to get used to so don't get discouraged.

I use this hoop rack

It was a bit of a pain to put up but it holds a lot. I think I have about...16 hoops on there now, of various sizes and thicknesses, and theres plenty of room for more (you may be able to see it in my last video...)

I have also heard of people using garden hose hangers to hang hoops on - bonus is that you can get some pretty designs.

I'm using this
Canyon Hoops Weighted Hula Hoop for Exercise and Fitness. Made in The USA. Best for Beginners. (Purple Prism) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M001ZUW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_w0fVDbMKSSENY

It's really light. I'm mostly focusing on on body tricks and basic hooping. I started on a weighted hoop like 2-3lbs so I'm struggling with how slow the hoop is.

Fruity would be my pick. I actually played with one the other night. Great color!

Anyone here have an opinion on Fusion? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LDA4VI/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A31HCQGS2PD395 That's the one I'm looking at because it's more in my price range. I'm more a poi spinner than a hooper, so I don't want to spend too much but I like the idea of having an LED hoop or a little variety.

I'm getting my daughter the Hoopnotica Beginner DVD for Christmas. I saw a preview video of it somewhere and it looked pretty good. Unfortunately I can't find it again or I'd link that for you too. :)

If you feel uncomfortable, I'd recommend getting some 3M grip tape for your hoop. I usually wear a tank top and long pants, and it sticks to clothing perfectly! I have it on all of my hoops!

These are GREAT connetors. They come in multiple diameter sizes too.

Here is the proper tubing too. Again they come in different diameters.

u/ivanmartinvalle · 1 pointr/Hooping

I'm using these.

They will fit into 5/8" ID tubing with the LED strip, but it's kind of tight. I'm only placing about half of one holder in the 5/8": the rest of the electronics are inside the connector. The full 3/4" would be a lot better if you could go that big.

Have you tried removing the marks with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or similar product? You could also invest in a rubber mat or something like this: link.

I used this attachment. I really dig it. Make sure to give it a good tug and tighten the GoPro screw. It will move around if it is slightly loose.

this is the one I saw on the most sites and recommended most.

I prefer bare feet as well, but this is my new favoritehttp://www.amazon.com/Merrell-Womens-Barefoot-Pace-Glove/dp/B004K1MVVG It's the only thing I feel that comes close to bare feet.

Which specific one for gripping against skin? I see there is softer and firmer ones. Would you link me? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093CQRK8 ?
