If you already have invested in a brand of cordless tools looks for whatever your brand offers, most higher-end brands usually are pretty comparable these days.

I've used the milwaukee m18 impact for a while and I've had much better luck with it than I've had with air tools on a too small compressor. A quick search shows Dewalt and Makita both have equivalents that are probably quite good as well.

So I just saw this on Amazon last night and ordered it immediately. No idea how well it works but it looks like it will save your sanity if it does.

I had a tough time swapping the fan clutch in my F-150. I went to Autozone, O'Reilly, and Advance Auto and still couldn't find a wrench that would fit. I broke down and bought the Lisle fan clutch tool. I was able to uninstall / install using the tool along with Kobalt air chisel and Porter air compresssor.

People told me I'd need a stronger compressor. Nope. Just gotta give it time to charge up in between attempts to remove / install the fan clutch.

Honestly, if i ever get a cordless half inch impact, its going to be this, a tech at work has that snap on one, its pretty good, but for the price id rather get the IR

CRC Brakleen Brake Parts Cleaner - Non-Flammable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LDR9HI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GlHrzbCJQDQZZ

Order it yourself, unless you live in CA or NJ, in which case this might be more useful.

I use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00WTQW7JA

I've never had a nut that it couldn't take off. I've used it in everything from taking off lawn mower blades to nuts on my tractor and implements.

Some of the bolts on the implements you could barely tell there is thread with how rusted they are. Good luck on the future.

I hear good things about this one also. Reads ABS modules and more I believe. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00652G4TS?psc=1

I had a cheap Campbell Hausfeld and a pancake. Totally worthless. It had good power for like 3 seconds as others say.

I had the enjoyment of removing a pitman arm off of my '74 Corvette earlier this year. I invested in a DEWALT DCF899HB 20V MAX XR Brushless High Torque 1/2" Impact Wrench with Hog Ring Anvil https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WTQW7JA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LoiRzbYFQV4AR

Oh man is this impact is dangerous. If a nut wont give, it'll snap the stud instead. Ask me how I now. Plenty enough power for me.

Buy one of these. They'll save your life. When the screwdriver trick just cuts the filter in half.

Get a bluetooth OBD2 scanner and an app for your phone instead of wasting buck on Verizon service and you'll get more info than the hum will give you.

Extra battery costs $80? No thanks. I'll let it sit on the charger for an hour.

http://www.amazon.com/Ingersoll-W7150-K1-High-Torque-Impactool-Charger/dp/B007LHJI4E/ref=pd_cp_hi_1

(A spare battery is actually $100 o_o I think I'd probably get a generic battery and replace it sooner.)

u/OutWithTheNew · 87 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

I was talking about one of these.

Not the cheapest, but you can buy more plugs for ~$20.

u/Broyota · 3 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

I have the same set. I think Lisle makes it. Yup

u/JubeiK · 4 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

Yup. They sell helicoil kits specifically designed for it

Example

u/bubblesthemonkee · 5 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

I have one of these because of this clown I used to work with. He would constantly strip drain plugs. I only have 1 of the replacement plugs left and only worked with him for a few months.

Been using this same tool for 20+ years. It doesn’t work in very tight situations, it does work well when you have enough room to manipulate it into position.

Panduit GS2B Cable Tie Tool, Controlled Tension And Cut-Off, 11.5Oz. Weight https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EU2558/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fXVADbTK81R3E

Get yourself one of these kits

Lisle 58850 Oil Pan Plug Rethread Kit

Not everyone is nice enough to leave a note and I can't tell you how many times this kit has saved my ass

u/reboticon · 2 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

Like walking a rounded off nut loose. If you tab the left edge with about half the chisel blade they will break loose unless they are severely rusted. I prefer this set but it does work in a pinch.

u/kenlyns · 1 pointr/Justrolledintotheshop

Suck the oil out of the dipstick tube: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000JFJM14/
Particularly handy if your oil filter is also accessed from the top - no need to jack the car up at all.

u/loginorsignupinhours · 7 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

I've been using an Ingersoll Rand 20v for over a year now with no problems. I'll never go back to air.

u/InsertBluescreenHere · 56 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

you should get the tywrap gun or zip tie gun, perfectly tensions the cable that you set and cut sit when tension is reached. Cuts super flush no sharp edges and can operate with one hand.

https://www.amazon.com/Panduit-GS2B-Controlled-Tension-Cut-Off/dp/B001EU2558

stupid expensive yes but the one i have saw daily use over a decade and zero issues still. At first i had the harbor freight one and its crap. This is one of those buy it once for life tools and since your cabinet building its a time saver and would make your job so much quicker. Might be able to get your boss to order one and try it out and have them as company tools.
