I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years (SoL, basically “Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid in isekai form)

Average Abilities (Adventure, SoL, a humorous twist on the OP protagonist story)

So I’m a Spider, So What? (isekai, humor, starts as humorous and develops a shockingly complex and dramatic plot; the lead is female but it doesn’t really factor in the plot much so far)

I Shall Survive Using Potions! (humor, SoL; a very funny and feminist take on isekai, by the same author as Average Abilities)

All of these are licensed in English, all of the digitally and some physically available to purchase

(Edited links to show Amazon instead of NU)

Edit 2: thought of a couple more that need to be mentioned

Obsessions of an Otome Gamer (otome isekai, romance, drama; one of the better LNs I’ve read; inspiring lead character who takes charge of her own life and pursued her newfound passion for the piano, a real treat if you played/play an instrument)

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! (otome isekai, comedy; absolutely hilarious story of a reincarnated “Villainess” character trying to prevent her disastrous fate, but is actually a lovable idiot. A must-read)

All You Need Is Kill

Mardock Scramble is a pretty good cyberpunk novel.

Seconding recommendation for Crest of the Stars, but the new translation is not quite ready yet. Volume one is only getting released next month and then you can either wait for volumes 2 and 3, or pay for subscription at J-Novel Club website to read the ongoing translation. Or you can wait till all 3 volumes are finished and binge it then.
Banner of the Stars translation will start after they are done with the Crest.

By the way, all titles mentioned above are regular Japanese novels, rather than light novels. It's pretty rare for pure sci-fi to be published as a light novel.

As for magitek/science fantasy, Owari no Chronicle is quite good. It's only available as fan-translation, you can find it at Baka-Tsuki. And there's an informative review at MAL.

If you like hardcover, the first 3-in-1 omnibus of Katanagatari comes out in a couple weeks.

For other printed, non-isekai LNs, I can think of:

  • Clockwork Planet (written by NGNL author)

  • Occultic;Nine (haven’t read this one though)

  • Boogiepop is getting released in a 3-in-1 omnibus, though I haven’t read it either. Also upcoming anime next year by Madhouse.

  • WorldEnd (2 out of 5 released so far, probably won’t be till end of 2019 before it finishes, Anime was fantastic).

  • Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers (haven’t read this one either, though I’ve heard good things about it).

This website might help you find others available in English, and if you click on a series it will tell you if it is available in print: https://englishlightnovels.com/list-of-light-novels/

Oregairu is good as some comments have mentioned. Otherwise if you like Monogatari and its writing style you will like Zaregoto. Vol 3 is going to come out in English this fall.

Book Girl seems like it might be up your alley. There are some fairly numerous references to classic works within. Mostly a drama and mystery series with some romance.

53% off is as good as it gets for manga and LN, guess I have to buy it. Thanks, OP.

Smile link.

u/SINCEE · 3 pointsr/LightNovels

I'd say Spice & Wolf because it's a classic and The Irregular at Magic High School because it's fucking awesome.

u/Animes2Deep4U · 1 pointr/LightNovels

It has no official release, so the online fan translations I linked are the only ones that exist for it.

A single light novel volume that is licensed that you can buy though is [Bakemono no Ko] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Boy-Beast-Mamoru-Hosoda/dp/0316270601/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1458357939&sr=8-2&keywords=the+boy+and+the+beast) in that case. And Another

Project Itoh's novels Harmony & Genocidal Organ are also good.

u/lord_ne · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

I would definitely recommend WorldEnd, it’s really sad but that’s what makes it good

u/shewy92 · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

That thing weigh like 5 pounds and the text is both tiny and has 2 normal pages as one page, separated by a blank column and is like $400

But seriously. All 20 books plus Wolf and Parchment are on Amazon so with Prime shipping it doesnt really matter if you buy them all separately or not.

LN has been translated by One Peace Books and can be bought on Amazon. The manga is based on the LN. If you want to give the WN a try here are the epubs.

u/japzone · 4 pointsr/LightNovels

Irregular at Magic High school Official English Volume 1 on Amazon

However, believers of the /r/OneTrueTatsuya may be enlightened with holy secrets.

u/dakoslug · 1 pointr/LightNovels

This would be the first LN then right?

Hopefully this will be the last question :P

u/xDarKraDx · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

There are some that have physical release and have only one or two volumes: Another, Your Name, The Boy and The Beast, and Your Lie in April

These are the ones that I have on top of my head right now.

Zaregoto has been licensed twice by two different companies. The first one - Del Rey (I think) released only 2 volumes and then dropped the series. Later Zaregoto series was licensed by Vertical and they released the first volume. Supposedly they only had the license for the first volume but then they got the license for the rest of the series as well. The first volume published by Vertical was released in January 2017 and the second volume will be released on February 2018.

[Get the first volume from Vertical] (https://www.amazon.com/Decapitation-Kubikiri-Cycle-Zaregoto-NISIOISIN/dp/1945054212/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1506212057&sr=1-1&keywords=zaregoto) and wait for the second volume to be publuished.

u/VisiOnShOt · 3 pointsr/LightNovels

well, just get them on amazon.de - that's what I'm doing - dunno what you mean by cheap though (they are 11,50€ each) - they normally got them already shipped to germany so you don't have to wait long to get them (about 2-3 days)

Volume 4:

Volume 5:

I'm reading Vine reviews on Amazon and most of the reviews speak quite poorly of it as a light novel. Personally, I won't be purchasing this although I loved the movie.

u/kuubi · 1 pointr/LightNovels

German Amazon

I guess you could make an acc on German Amazon and purchase it there?

u/canadianaviator · 1 pointr/LightNovels

The Haruhi Series is really good. The anime ran from 1-4 with one chapter of 5. Here is the order

If you have seen Death Note then I would highly recommend Death Note: Another Note by NisiOisiN. It follows a case earlier in L's career. Its only one volume and I love it but you can only read it after you have watched Death Note since it uses some of the same characters.

If you enjoyed the anime you could check out Sword Art Online.

Since you already have Spice and Wolf I can't really recommend any other officially translated ones. You can try this blog for a list of the officially translated light novels.

Amazon.de has the english version of Shield Hero.

https://www.amazon.de/Rising-Shield-Hero-1/dp/1935548727/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550045691&sr=8-1&keywords=9781935548720

If you are having trouble finding them what i would suggest you do is to go to Amazon.com website , find the book and search the ISBN-13 code in Amazon.de website. It will find you the english book.

u/Cho_Desu · 3 pointsr/LightNovels

I just searched a few, and didn't have trouble finding them.

u/KinNoKami · 6 pointsr/LightNovels

Take a look at kobo, or amazon (if you prefer physical)

For information about the LN vs WN / what to do if you have seen the anime: see this comment

Also, check out the re zero wiki (look out for spoilers)

>I'm not even loocking for german translations since they usually suck.

Stop buying Tokyopop shit. Egmont Manga and Planet Manga translations are usually excellent in my opinion. Also, you said "our" amazon only has two volumes of Spice and Wolf. That's not true. Number 1, Number 2, Number 3 I also ordered Index via Amazon. I never needed to use Book Depository.
