OK, sorry about the delay, my computer is not put together right now... It is halfway through getting a hard-line water tubing job done...

So, as far as tools, just get this it may not be the best, and odds are the 24pin tool will break, but truth be told, I prefer to use flattened paper clips for that anyway. What you really need is the molex tool, and fan tool.

For sleeving, that is a personal preference. I personally use 550 Paracord, because it comes in so many colors, but the plastic ones are WAY nicer to work with (or so I hear). I'd go with the plastic (MDPX? MNPX? Something like that... Check sidebar) if I were you.

Last but not least, the heatshrink. Heatshrink is heatshrink is heatshrink, so really, just choose a color scheme, decide what you think will look good, and go on amazon to buy it PRE-CUT. I can not stress PRE-CUT enough, because they come perfectly straight, perfectly sized, which adds a lot to the aesthetic, that having "mostly straight" heatshrink takes away. If you have any other questions, let me know!

I used TechFlex 1/8" 25 feet from Amazon.

I used VKTech heatshrink.

I could have done a much better job on the heatshrink on both ends of the cable, however I didn't have time to use my heat gun so I used my Zippo with a Thunderbird butane insert.

It turned out pretty good in my opinion, however like I said, I could have done a much better job.

I also live in Canada, i recently made custom usb cables for mech keyboards.

For the tech flex, after a lot of research to find a seller, I stumbled across this :
https://www.cabletiesandmore.ca/

They have fair pricing and they are located in canada.

For the cables, I bought premade usb cables from amazon : https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B002I041AK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_K1USDbCED727N

The outside diameter is perfect to fit inside 550 paracord. It is also 28/28 AWG. Just cut both ends and you are good to go.

I recomend getting one of these, should be available from amazon ger https://www.amazon.com/Engineer-PA-20-Universal-Terminal-Crimping/dp/B002AVVO7U

If that one is not available mdpcx has excellent crimper. You can also get sleeving from them

If you want to go full budget get paracord from ebay, heatshrink from local electronic shop or something along those lines.

I recomend getting atx terminals from ebay or ali just watch out that they MUST have long tabs(thing that go into cable). When i ordered some connectors i got extra pins which have sjort tabs and cant grip the cable good enough.

Connectors also from ebay/ali.Pm me if u want to know something morw

Yeah, stretching the sleeve by hand will give you blisters. I use a pair of long nose vise grips with silicone tubing over the jaws to stretch and hold the sleeve in place. Works pretty good and doesn’t damage the sleeve or wire with the rubber tubing on the jaws.

I don't think that you really need a spool to store that little amount of wire, but........
Odd thing is, this is the cheapest route to go and will hold whatever you want to throw on there. Or this one
