Heya, welcome to RAoM!! I hope you enjoy it here :D Also, happy birthday c:

I'd definitely recommend picking up the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk -- it's a great base that really makes colors pop! It's also really creamy, so it blends out easily.

I also love my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I have Rendezvous (a very orange-y coral) and Lovestick (bright pink), which are perfect for summer. I also have Romantic (pretty true red) and my sister has Crush (a darker plum), which are great for fall. These are really easy to wear because they feel just like lip balms, but they're also very nicely pigmented.

If you want to play around with a lot more colors, I would say go for the Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette -- I use at least one color from this every time I do my make-up! It's not too pricey, but it gives you a lot to experiment with :)

I think it would be a pretty great time to pick up some brushes. Since you're just starting out, I'd probably go with ELF brushes because they're super cheap. Here are a few of my favorites (although I'd recommend looking in store at Target, because the white brushes are only $1 and the black ones are usually only $3; they might be cheaper on the ELF website too):

Eyeshadow Brush -- great for packing on the color
Blending Brush -- because everyone could use a nice blender!
Contouring Brush -- really great for applying color in the crease
12 Piece Set -- I don't actually own all these brushes, but it looks like a great set to start with, especially for only $12!

As for something I'd like...well, I'm currently obsessing over this lipstick in Black Cherry, because it is the PERFECT color for fall, and I don't have any other dark lip colors :3

Oh yea, and Summer Fun !

1. Hard choice, but I THINK it'd be Maybelline. They have great makeup and great bargains. Or maybe E.L.F...

Face: Maybelline Fit Me concealer. That stuff is. amaze. balls.

Cheek: It's weird, but the L'Oreal Fairest Nude Lipstick, because it creates the most beautiful, natural blush.

Lip: Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon, because it's beautimous.

3. Revlon Creme Eyeshadow. I have a quad, and it's so weird. Gunky, gross, and NEVER FREAKING DRIES. Well, I mean, you know, not necessarily dry, but y'know what I mean? That stuff stays about 2 seconds on my lids before sliding off, and I don't have oily lids :(

4. A lot of stuff from E.L.F. I mean, some of their stuff really is worth that $1 you spent on it, but I've had a good experience with most of their products. The one in particular I'm thinking of is their dollar eyelash curler. Maybe I don't love on my eyelashes enough, but I think an eyelash curler is an eyelash curler, and I'd rather buy a new lip product than one of those!

5. I think CoverGirl Quads are pretty great (:

6. Physician's Formula is sorta pricey for what it is.

7. I don't have any thing 'dupeable' because all I have is drugstore:(

8. I honestly don't know, just starting out in makeup, I do a lot of research on here and MUA before buying. Most of what I've bought so far seems pretty good (:

9. Oh God, so many come to mind...I think what I'd most like to try is the Maybelline Fit Me foundation, because the concealer was so freaking amazing!!

10. I don't know... true makeup, probably either this or this. Makeup accessories probably these or these.. But the thing I seriously need that is only makeup related for me is this, because I literally sit on a bucket to do my makeup. Wow, all of that makes me sound like a spoiled brat...Just for the record, I don't expect anyone to actually get them for me, they're just high up there on my WL (: Thank you so so much for the contest!!!

u/PattiLuPWNed · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand overall? Physician's formula for sure!

What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products? Face is physicians formula, their concealer stick has great coverage and I feel like it's not gonna burn my face off or anything. I also like the physican's formula shimmer strips for the cheeks, and I AM IN LOVE with the Almay Liquid Lipbalms - I want them ALL!!

Least favorite product? Covergirl eyes shadows have never been the best, and I honestly don't get the wet and wild love a lot of ladies here have. I've tried most of it - and it's not great to me.

What is the best makeup bargain? It's a toss up between clump crusher and Yes to Blueberries facial wipes. Those are my FAVORITE make up wipes and they're some how magically hydrating too. But clump crusher is just as good if not better than a $20+ mascara - so that's a real bargain.

What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?) That's a good question! I honestly think the Almay Liquid Lipbalms get overlooked - even though they're so new. As soon as I tried one I was SURE they'd be the next Revlon Lip Butter, Clump Crusher, etc. but they haven't caught on like I thought they would. But I'm probably just unique cause I have a THING for color saturated lip balms.

A drugstore product that is overpriced? Revlon Lip Butters! I tried them, they're pretty good, but $7-$10? No.

Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!! Elf always has the BEST dupes. Like, down to the packaging. Their blush bronzer duo is an exact dupe of the Orgasm/Laguna duo for Nars.

Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype? Color tattoos. Sorry guys, I don't get it.

What is the item you most want to try from the Drugstore? I've been dying to try Essie's apricot nail treatment - but I feel weird spending $8 on it! The package is so pretty and my nails always need help!

What item would you want from your wishlist? This guy!

This is awesome! Also unless it took me forever to type this I think I'm the first person to enter! Thanks for the contest summer! :) :) :)

Also I Heart Drugstore Makeup!!

  • LOTS OF DIFFERENT PARTS: When you're doing eye makeup, it gets a little more complicated than "eyelid" and "eyeball" so here is a diagram showing all the different parts of the eye in Makeuplandia. The diagram does a little bit of explaining but I'll elaborate... So there's the brow bone (just about right underneath your brow) and here you'll want to highlight (which basically means use a light eyeshadow color). Underneath that there's the crease, which is your socket line (so take your fingers, close your eyes, and feel along the upper top of your eyeball--that's your crease!). In your crease you'll use the darkest color to contour, because I guess we're all trying to go for the deep-set eyes look. Then over to the left is outer v, and sometimes people get fancy and make the color a little darker over there, and this diagram doesn't have it labeled but on the other side (side closest to your nose) there would be the inner v and you can get fancy and put a little bit of a bright color there or whatever. Now, going to what's in the middle that is your eyelid! You probably know what that is so I'll skip the explanation and let's go down to the upper lash line--that's just right on top where your lashes are and this is where you put eyeliner. Now down to the lower lash line-- you can also put eyeliner there, or you can skip it if you want your eyes to look a little bigger (or if you're lazy like me). Now that scary orange blob that says water line is actually talking about the part that isn't skin but is actually wet and probably pinkish and if you look at your eye in a mirror, look at your lower lashes, and then look at the place where your lower lashes meet eyeball, that little border of flesh right there is your water line.
  • EYE PRIMER: Remember that stuff you put all over your face that came in a rainbow of colors? This is the eye version of it! The purpose of eye primer is to prevent creasing which is where your eyeshadow decides to throw a party and ends up in a congo line like this (scroll down a bit for the pictures). So use eye primer! I use Etude House 10 primer and I like it well enough, but other popular ones are Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion. I haven't tried either of them so I can't speak to those, but EH works just fine for me. When you twist off that long handle, at the end it looks like a little lip gloss applicator and I dab it on my eyelid and then gently spread it with my finger. And then I go about with my happy little eyeshadow business.
  • EYESHADOW: Eyeshadow is the colored stuff that you put on your eyelid/outer v/inner v/all over your damn face if you're me. It comes in many different forms including pressed powder, loose powder, baked, cream, stick, etc. And if that weren't enough it comes in different finishes too: matte (no shimmer or sparkle as seen here), satin (no actual glitter but it's not as flat as matte which you can see here), shimmer (just a bit of sparkle which you can see here), and then glitter (kind of obvious, but you can see it here). Also there are some eyeshadows that can be used both wet and dry. If your eyeshadow can be used wet I'd recommend that approach because I feel like it goes on smoother. But if you try to use an eyeshadow that isn't meant to be used wet it could ruin it, so please check! And, there are also things like "eyeshadow bases" and they can come in a variety of different colors. I think it's popular to use a white eyeshadow base because the shadow color you select with pop a bit more if it's on white. A popular "eyeshadow base" is NYX's milk pencil, but I haven't personally used it. And a note: Usually if you buy a single of eyeshadow they're crazy expensive, so it's best to stick with palettes (Lorac Pro is a good option for matte and shimmery finishes, but I haven't tried it myself since I'm cheap--I stick with the Wet 'N Wild trios because they tell you where to put each color, they're $3, and they're quite pigmented). For neutral looks I like this this WNW trio which is supposed to be a dupe for some mid-range colors. There are also independent (indie) companies that make eyeshadow, generally in loose forms but some do have pressed ones and I have a hard-on for Fyrinnae as you can see in that post by me in an entry for Lava's contest. (Seriously go read that and check out all the links.)
  • EYELINER: Eyeliner does basically what it sounds like, lines your eye. You can get fancy and do things like winged eyeliner if you want. The purpose is to define your eye. Eyeliner, as you might have guessed, also comes in many different forms including pencil, automatic eyeliner (it's like the mechanical pencil of eyeliner, you just twist it and it comes up and you don't have to sharpen), liquid (basically like a marker or felt-tip pen), gel, etc. A lot of people are also fond of using waterproof eyeliners because they don't budge. I'm not fancy so I just use Ulta-brand gel eyeliner which I like well enough, but you should probably get a recommendation from someone else who is in love with their eyeliner.
  • LASHES: So, you have eyelashes. And you can do things to them like curl them and apply mascara. If you go here and watch the video "Makeup Artist Secret" (I don't know what's so secret about it) you'll learn how to curl your lashes (once at the base of your lashes, in the middle, and at the end)) and also how to use mascara (with the shimmy/wiggle thing). He also uses mascara primer, which you could use too but I think a lot of people just skip that unless they're going for colored eyelashes (because the primer is usually white so it would accentuate that). Mascara can also come in waterproof versions which most people prefer. I've heard you're not supposed to use waterproof ones regularly because they make your lashes more brittle, but I know a lot of people use exclusively waterproof mascaras and still have all of their lashes. Just something to be aware of though :)

Edit: I will recommend the Lancome Le Curler. I am borrowing my mother's on a semi-permanent basis and I love it.

Sleek (a UK brand, but you can find it on amazon) makes some pretty good palettes in that price range. I'm not particularly impressed with the quality of my NYX palette (their single shadows are more consistent) but I think Sleek does a good job in terms of texture and pigmentation.

Here is a neutral palette by them:

A brights palette:

I'd shop around and find a palette you're comfortable with from them.

Also, Coastal Scents is really inexpensive and I think the quality of their Go Palettes are pretty impressive. I would avoid their really big 88 palettes though. I have the feeling that the bigger the palette from them, the worse quality it is.

I have Beijing and the colors are so pretty!

I also have their brush kit--I would recommend that as well.

As for drugstore brands--Wet n Wild's "Comfort Zone" is a GREAT neutral palette and its only $4.99-$5.99 at drugstores. Their other shadows vary in quality, but for the most part, they're on par with NYX for a little cheaper. I also really like Sonia Kashuk's neutral matte palette (my mom has it) and that's about $19.99 at Target.

Oh, and definitely pay Nordstrom Rack a visit if you're looking for higher-end brands at ridiculous discounts (I see UD and Smashbox there on the regular!) Just don't buy a palette with colors you're not comfortable with using because its from a high end brand. When I was starting out I bought UD's old Fun palette because it was on sale and I seriously only ever figured out how to make one shadow work with my skintone. I ended up loving Wet n Wild's comfort zone way more.

Have fun!

u/PatitoIncognito · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

You need some brushes! Real Techniques is a great brand to start with. They have some nice kits for eyes or face and great single brushes like the expert face brush and blush brush. EcoTools is another inexpensive brand for good quality brushes. Have you tried a lipstick before? Try the brand NYX. I'm around your age and I honestly used to think lipstick was for older ladies (sorry!), but I'm digging it now. Like others have said, primer, concealer, and color tattoos would be good items to add to your collection as well. Update us on what you end up choosing and happy birthday!

Summer Fun

  • e.l.f. neutral eyeshadow palette (so many beautiful, beautiful colors and it's pretty well pigmented)
  • Flower Kiss Slick in Black Rose (this is a gorgeous wine color! I love it!)
  • e.l.f. Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia (I think-- it doesn't say it on the blush itself. This is supposed to be a dupe for Nars Orgasm. I am in love the blush! Such a pretty color!)
  • Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener (a lot of people seem to hate this because it's a twist/click tube, but it doesn't bother me. It primes well IMO and definitely brightens my eyes up.)

Here's a look from today using my top 5!

Blueberry Waffles

I wear a lot of bright makeup and I'm always trying new looks and products, so my emergency kit is always on hand for when things go wrong.

  • powder. I use little sample jars from Lush to carry small amounts for baby powder (or fancy powder if I'm feelin' ritzy) to use when my skin or hair gets oily. It's also great for blisters!

  • lip balm. I wear lipstick a lot, and if so I bring that too, but chapped lips will stop me from being able to function, it is a MUST. If I am wearing a lip colour, I bring that too.

  • eyemakeup remover wipes. Nothing is worse than realising mid-day that your new product is shite and you're stuck with smeared makeup all day or resorting to soap on your eyes. God. No. I don't use 'wipes' at home (they're quite harsh), but I have a few in my purse for emergencies.

  • sample mascara and sample concealer (for concealer I just put a bit of foundation in a Lush sample jar). Just in case you have to abandon you makeup mid-day, but don't want to look like a zombie.

  • NYX butter gloss in Peach Cobbler. Makes me look alive if I'm ashy and horrible.

  • 4 bobby pins. Sometimes my hair gets oily and unruly, and then I can pin it back, admit defeat, without looking horrible all day. Back when I had long hair, there were elastics too.

  • not makeup, but essential oils for headaches. For whatever reason I get a lot of headaches. This calms them, and the scent isn't overbearing.

  • also not makeup, hand sanitizer. I know all the reasons I shouldn't use it, but I don't care. The world is filthy.

  • Lush solid perfume in Lust or Vanillery. I have a Lush problem, clearly, but also solid perfume is just better for purses. I've learned that liquids and purses do not go together!

  • Small Aromaco Lush deodorant. You can get it cut to any size, it works great, smells nice, and I don't have to worry about stinkin' up the joint.

and, most importantly, WATER!!! The most important beauty product available ;) A dehydrated face can't be covered with the nicest foundation in the world!

I'm coveting Galaxy Chic Baked Eyeshadow Palette, because I want to look like a magical space creature : If that's too much, this Sleek palette is like a rainbow on drugs and I need it :)

This is one of my favorite questions to ask people! My husband and I are big on paying it forward.

Last christmas, the Doc Mcstuffins doll was one of the hot toys. We were lucky enough to get one for our niece, but it turned out that she already had one. People were selling it on eBay and Craigslist for 3 times its worth because it was in such high demand. We decided to list our doll on cl for the price we paid ($50, I believe). The woman who inquired first seemed so happy to find the doll... When she showed up to pick it up, she handed me the cash. I handed it back to her and said, "No charge. Merry Christmas." She shed a few tears and thanked me profusely. It was awesome.

The items I'd most like to have are: Eco Tools 6 Piece Eye Set, Coastal Scents To Go Palette Beijing, or Sleek I Divine Oh So Special palette

Thanks For hosting... Great question! How about you?

u/megandharma · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Funny face without warpaint! :) But I make faces like this because I don't always feel pretty..

I'm extremely self-conscious about my acne. I have it all over my face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. If I don't have at least BB Cream on and end up in public... I do not give eye contact. It bugs me so much! I've had acne since I was 12. I'm 25 now. I feel like it'll never go away. So I'll keep wearing my warpaint and hope for the best. The picture I posted was from a good skin day which are so very few and far between~ sigh maybe one day I'll have the health coverage or the income to see a dermatologist.. one day.

edit: Btw I bet your braces are super cute! I wouldn't worry about those because before too long they'll come off and you'll have an AMAZING smile. Something positive will come of them. :)

edit 2: This would be nice since I have yet to pick one up myself! :3

u/Eggwolls · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

The first thing I learned about makeup is that you NEED to invest in GOOD brushes. Real Techniques is the way to go 100%.
Eye brush set.
Expert face brush.
The only other brush set I can recommend is Coastal Scents.

I think as far as lipsticks go, pinky MLBB shades are a good place to start. Wet N Wild has very cheap (but pigmented) colors to try and if she doesn't like them, then it's not much money wasted. I'd not want to buy a more expensive brand and her not like it. /: You know what I mean?

The ELF blush/contour kit. I've always heard great reviews of this little kit.

NYX Natural palette is a must imo. Very pigmented and all the nudes you need to pull off any natural eye look. Not to mention, the lightest shades can be used as a highlight and some of the darker shades can be used as a brow filler.

Hope this helps! Good luck to you and invite your friend here. <: SrslyGlammin

EDIT: Also. I great youtube channel for a lot of drugstore reviews (Don't buys and Do buys) is here and here. Same lady. Does awesome and informative reviews!

Kurt Vonnegut. Everything he's written is so so good. I started with "Slaughterhouse Five" which is phenomenal, and read a lot of his other novels, but his short stories are my favorite. Namely the collection in "A Man Without A Country." I love his ability to criticize society and government through example rather than direct rant. I also like his use of sci-fi to make connections to the bigger picture of his ideas and arguments. His style is straightforward, but he's able to set the scene perfectly without you being like "come on, I don't care what color the curtains are, get on with it" which I find in so many other books. He gets to the point, but you enjoy the ride there. The way he pulls in humor and gets you to think critically about life is unmatched to this day, in my opinion. Whomever owns the rights to his stuff recently released (posthumously) a collection of letters he wrote and they are just brilliant.

So my favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut and my favorite book is "A Man Without A Country"

Other favorite authors are Sloane Crosley (hilarious!), Oscar Wilde (withstands the test of time beautifully), Veronica Roth (I'm reading the Divergent series right now and loving it), Jenny Lawson (also hilarious!), David Sedaris (so funny and charming), and Jim Derogatis (one of my favorite music journalists/writers).

Here's my item

Yay contests are the best!
My name is Paige. My favorite make up stuff is pretty much any eye stuff from UD. My favorite make up look is a natural smokey eye!! I use a skin colored shadow on my lid and a darker brown on the crease with winged eyeliner. Pretty much my everyday look. Lol. And my most interesting fact, hmmmm. I'm pretty boring. I have 3 cats? Lol. And I would LOVE this Add-on item! NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

u/nesianeni · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Wow that is super awesome! Congrats! Are you getting promoted? Lol, I think that'd be a great idea ;) What are your plans to celebrate? Thanks for the contest.

At the top of my list I have this and this

u/rawbery79 · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I hope this doesn't seem like a cop-out, but I don't know what it is yet! I have Chocolate Bar and am planning on getting a new palette SOON, either Lorac Pro or Pro 2 (or something else, I'm not 100% sure yet). So whatever my fall color will be will be on my new palette, whatever that is.

Speaking of, I have my eye on pretty much all of the Sleek palettes, though I don't know how work appropriate they would be...but I especially like these:

Okay, that's several things and not all palettes but I'd be tickled to get any of them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I think it's neat we found each other on here again; I just hope I can be more active these days.

u/msronswanson · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I have a bunch of favorites. But sometimes they are hard to find on Amazon.

I love theBalm's nudetude palette, which is on sale on amazon.

Hot Mama Blush by theBalm, I love them

Another favorite blush is Dainty by MAC, which is extremely overpriced on Amazon for some reason.

My HG foundation is MAC Matchmaster in 1.0

I am a FIRM believer in the beauty blender and u/residingrebel glammed me these and essentially changed my life.

I love NYX jumbo eye pencils.

I just ordered the Lorac Pro Palette, so I will let you know how I like it when it gets here.

I have a lot of favorites, and I could go on forever. I have tried basically every popular product so I can answer a lot of your questions.

u/klady · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I like this brush set because it's so cute! It's probably not the greatest quality, but hey, for $3.43 and free shipping, it seems like a steal!

I'm also gonna go with this because it both perplexes me and interests me! I'm not quite sure that I would be good at using it, or even know how to use all the colors, but it seems like it would be handy for covering up blemishes and doing looks for contest entries where I want to change the entire color of my face lol.

Lastly, here's an offbrand beauty blender that I would love to try because I don't wanna shell out for the real thing. I've never used a sponge to apply my foundation, so I'm not sure if I'd love it or not.

u/kziegy · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Well, I've know about OCC Lip Tars forever, I mean...everyone kinda does.. but I just got my first one yesterday!! :D Just in time for Fall, and the only one left, I got Black Dahlia. And it's pretty much everything I expected AND hoped for. This stuff is PIGMENTED, and this color is perfect for fall.

Since it IS going to be fall soon, either this palette or this palette would be perfect!

u/IAmASquishyBunny · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

For moisturizers and the like, I definitely recommend going to /r/SkincareAddiction, they're very nice, lots of information and everyone is very helpful. They can help you find some good moisturizers to try.

As for other more makeup related things, I've had my eye on this eyeliner set for a while now, and I might get it from a different seller when I have the disposable income (I'm currently a mostly broke college student).

I live in a really humid place, so I've got my eye on this setting powder

I'm also a sucker for cute things, so this is on my wishlist too.

If you do want to try out some BB creams, this set isn't too expensive.

I really like the Maybelline color tattoo eyeshadows. I have two, one in Pomegranate punk, and another in electric blue. They're waterproof, so I use sweet almond oil to take it off.

My Amazon wishlist is about half skincare stuff, because I think the two go hand in hand. Also I wear makeup now that I feel more confident about my face and skin.

u/housesnark · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

so fun! unfortunately I don't have a ton of super bright eyeshadows (and I did this at night), so I was pretty limited. but I did my best! here's my look. =)

I haven't seen anybody else do this, but here are the items I'd like if I win! nyx blush in taupe or skin79 snail bb cream. thank you so much, I loved doing my eyebrows!

u/anitxtina · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

My favorite colors are teal and purple. I'm all about those jewels tones! Which is probably why I am really excited about the Pantone color of the year. I think Marsala is gorgeous. I have been enjoying wearing the brown and reddish shades from the Sleek Ultra Matte V2 palette. Layered together they look like Marsala and it really compliments my brown eyes.

I've looked at the teasers for the products coming out and I can say this is probably the first year I'll be seriously considering buying the CoTY products.

Lately I've been lusting over the Sephora Lashstash set which includes like 10 mascaras, a makeup remover and a voucher for a full-size mascara. Though I'd really be up for getting anything from my WL too! Thank you for hosting!! :)

Clump crusher

My favorite makeup look

It is a fact that I love my eyes :) and my boyfriend is my best friend!

I would love this

Thanks for the contest!

Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation - Simply amazing.
Equate Cleansing Towlettes (Thick and bigger than hand size makeup wipes) - Great for only $4 at Walmart.
Covergirl Clump Crusher - Cannot live without it.
OCC Lip Tar in Stalker- Amazing, I need more of these.

Wishlist Item

I got 5 on it

u/LadySkywalker · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Okay so I saw you said $25 so here's my input.

I was just glammed Meet Matte and I'm really enjoying it. This is the older one which is why it's cheaper. The new one is $42.

Nude'Tude is supposed to be a great UD Naked dupe.

Naked Basics is amazing. It is perfect for wear every single day. I love it.

These Sephora palettes are pretty good. Sephora isn't the greatest brand but it's better than the cheaper stuff and these palettes are a nice deal for the amount you get.

I also really like Too Faced and this is an affordable palette of theres.

u/smeepsmop · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

This is a great idea--thanks for hosting!

u/smittenginger · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

My freshly showered face, sans warpaint!

I have a lot of issues with my face that I try not to dwell on, namely because I am blessed enough to have minor flaws. Nothing big. Just a couple of weird dry patches, thick red brows, and weird red capillaries around my eyes. I'm super comfy wearing no makeup outside. I just like looking all dolled up and gorgeous. Makeup is such a confidence booster for me!

Thanks for hosting. This is a fun one. :)

Happy up and coming birthday! How old will you be?

My fall colours this year is going to be metallic golds, bronze, and coppers! If I had to pick one I would pick gold. I don't have a huge degree of gold in my collection right now but last time I was at MAC I fell in love with [bronze shimmer] (

If I were to win I would love [this] ( sleek palette.

I'm gonna tag my girl /u/ambskiii to enter!

u/GarbaGarba · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

It's my party!

Such a great idea, I did this same thing last week for my birthday! For my birthday, I would hope to receive one of the Sleek palettes on my wishlist, like the Garden of Eden or Oh So Special! They look sooo nice and I'm on an eyeshadow no buy, so it'd be fantastic.

Happy birthday!

u/widdersyns · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

hopscotch! Well, my boyfriend likes to make funny faces. so here are two pics of us being silly together. I'd really like these brushes. I don't have good quality brushes at all, and since I just got some nice new eyeshadow it would be great to have nice brushes to use on it. :)

u/EmpressHotdog · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Happy birthday to you!!! I hope you have a good day!

If it was my birthday, I would love to have more brushes, like this set of RT Starter Set because at the moment I have about three brushes for eyeshadow, and I want to practice doing my eyeshadow with different brushes! And this NYX eyebrow cake powder so that I can practice doing my black eyebrows! I bought an ELF brow kit in medium which is definitely not my color, because I have black hair :( It's my party!

u/Mangotheskitty · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

It's hard to judge myself here on the nicest thing I've done. I tend to think I'm a fairly generous person. So I'll just share my relationship with my cousin and how I think it reflects my nicer side..

My cousin has divorced parents, her dad is a factory worker and her mom isn't the nicest person in the world....when she was 16 she got in the car with her brother and left her mom's house, vowing never to come back. So far, she hasn't. We were always pretty close since we were just a little over a year apart(she's the younger one) and we'd always go to school together. My mom started the trend of nice gestures. He father went to work fairly early so he would drop my cousins off at our house so they could go to school with us. We were practically sisters because we spent so much time together.

Now she was more popular than me, so that of course meant rumors. On several occasions I heard nasty things being said about her, and every time I would jump up and quickly silence the lies. Even people that were supposed to be her friends were calling her a whore, to which i would reply "I would know ages before you if she's ever had sex, and even if she did, you're supposed to be her friend! Friends accept each other and don't tell everyone their secrets!". It made me so mad!

As we got older and out of high school I ended up passing my college textbooks books down to her instead of getting a refund because she couldn't afford to buy them. She would also come to my house every night to play games with me and my sister and I would cook dinner for us. We often joked that it was her new home. I would help her with college work most nights, and I even drove her around to find a job. Now that I'm getting into makeup, anytime I make an order, I'll often pick up 2 of whatever it is I'm getting and give her one.

Products: Sleek sunset palette, Sleek Oh so special palette, Nyx Matte lip Cream in any color

EDIT: Also, If anyone sees a cheapish/used naked 3 for sale, I'm looking to surprise her with that. I don't think I'd ever use it, but she's in love with it. Don't have a ton of money to spend for it though or I'd buy it new.

u/kaiphil95 · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

It's my party! But it's actually your party because HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

If it were my birthday, I'd want either the Balm nude 'tude palette or this Butter polish. I've been lusting after both for a while!!!

Thanks for hosting :)

u/jujicakes · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Ugh I'm so SICK of Summer :( Bring on the Fall!!!

I will probably be rocking this dark burgundy lip - NYX butter lipstick in Licorice - However, I have a few lipsticks coming in the mail right now so I may change my mind ;) But I feel like this dark color is very flattering on me and Fall friendly!

Swatchy Swatch!:

I can't decide between these two palettes, so feel free to surprise me if I win :3

Happy early birthday!! :D Thanks for the Giveaway/contest :)

What an awesome giveaway! Been wanting to try that liner.

Here are some wants for me.

ELF HD under eye concealer setting powder

^This one is 5.30, if that doesn't count I'll add another for good measure.

One of these Loreal eyeshadows because they look gorgeous!

The most talked about Top Coat because I don't own any, haha

This nail polish because fall is coming and this color looks beautiful!

Thanks for being awesome! <3

u/QuaffleNox · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

My favorite long wear product is by far Ulta's Raincoat Waterproof Mascara Top Coat. Why? Because I can add it on top of any of my favorite mascaras and it instantly makes it waterproof. And it works! Just the other day I added it on top of Tart Gifted and spent 4 hours in the pool. It didn't run at all! I swear by this stuff! And it comes off easily with a remover. :-) thank you so much for hosting.

u/BlumeKraft · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

That dress is gorgeous and so are you! You are going to have so much fun at prom! :D

Here is the little tutorial I made for you! The eyeshadow will go perfectly with that dress! I am assuming that you have the basics already (foundation, concealer, setting powder, blush, eyeliner and mascara), so you will just need to get the lip color, the eyeshadow, highlighter and the brow kit.

Sleek Oh So Special Palette $11.50 with shipping. The colors on Amazon are really deceptive! It looks nothing like that..

elf Jumbo Lipgloss Stick in Sangria Starters $1.99

Wet N Wild Ultimate Brow Kit $3.99

Wet N Wild Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana $2.99

I hope this helps you out OP! All of that stuff is just over $20.

EDIT: If you plan on getting that palette or any Sleek stuff for prom, you might want to think about ordering it very soon if you're in the US. The shipping takes a couple of weeks because it is coming from the UK. I highly recommend Sleek products. They are such high quality at such a low price. You can't go wrong!

u/pizzakitchensubban · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Congratulations on bringing in the big money! That is one amazing feat!

I've been really bad at impulse buying lately so I'm going to try and be practical with my choices...

Replacement Eyelash Curler Pads I can't ever find these in stores...I just end up buying a new eyelash curler.

Brush Guards to keep my new brushes in tip-top shape.

Mixing Palette and Spatula to fix my dried-out Stila smudge pots.

6-Pack of NYX Lip Liners because I do not own any lip liners yet.

I tried picking things with free shipping. For the lip liners, there are a couple of other sellers that are offering free shipping.

Item on ze wishlist. Definitely foundation, preferably mineral powder because my face is so wishy washy sometimes - never know if I'll need it! Lip balm aaaaaaand make up remover. I don't normally play with my eyes, mascara's fun and all that but it's not a necessity and it's a female canine to remove! Thanks a lot for the tea cup contest! I can't wait till the day I get a job and credit card so I can do my own glamming :)

Woah! That's huge! Congratulations! That really is "BIG MONEY!"
This is hart to pick because I'm still developing my makeup collection. I mostly just have what I've gotten from Ipsy. But I'm gonna go with the theBalm Pallete I love eye shadows and this is something I've been dying to try. I've seen a lot of people with it, so it must be really good.

u/Mishiiee · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

As someone mentioned before, the ecotool brush set. Or you can always go with E.L.F.

Not sure with the lipsticks, as I'm still a beginner (and kind of makeup challenged myself) and I right now opt for lip balm or the couple lip stains I have.

As for eye shadow, you can always go with something like this for your neutrals. Or something by NYX (which can be found in some Targets) like this

As for other things to start with, you might want to figure out how her skin care routine is, and toss in a few things that she could use in that regard. It'll make the makeup look better :)

Some other tools that she might not have, like an eyelash curler (E.L.F. has one for $3), NYX Milk is a good base/primer for eyeshadows as well.

My skincare is routine is this: every morning before makeup, I moisturize with Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. It's so light and makes my skin feel so perfect. Then every night I cleanse with Origins Checks and Balances frothy cream cleanse, which is AMAZING for combination skin. It's evened me out so much! Then every other day or every two days I use Origins rice exfoliater (blanking on the name right now) and it's pretty good at getting away all the dead skin and evening out my skin's texture.

My day is going okay. I've been feeling tummy flutters and "kicks" that feel identical to how it felt when I was pregnant with my son, so I took a test and it was negative. Apparently "phantom baby kicks" are a pretty common thing...which is good, because my son is just under 9 months old, lol! Not ready for #2 yet, but I still made an appointment on Wednesday just to be sure. This week I hope to get all of my laundry caught up, and get my grandpa over here to help Hubs install the new regulator on my stove so I can cook again. I haven't had a stove since the 4th of July, and sandwiches/cereal are getting boring, and eating out is expensive! Tonight when Hubs gets home, I am handing him baby and going to take a shower and shave (this counts as two, I promise!), and later this week I am going out with a couple of friends after baby is in bed for some much-needed karaoke therapy! I'm also supposed to do something today with one of my friends who has a daughter exactly 6 weeks younger than my son. No clue what we are doing yet though. I'll add a link once baby wakes up (he's on me) and I can get to my laptop instead of my phone.
Edit: to add Milk! I don't own any NYX products because no where near me sells them! :(

Primer is a more slightly sticky base that allows your shadow to adhere to your skin much better than just foundation. A base is slightly stickier and goes on top of a primer to help even more with color payoff. I really like this nyx eyelid primer because it's super affordable and available at so many stores including target and ulta! Just a primer works great but if you want your eyeshadow to really pop then I put a light layer of this nyx jumbo pencil in milk over the primer. Primer is a toootal game changer!!

  8. Elf eyeshadows and brushes. They last maybe an hour on, even with great primer. The brushes are scratchy, very cheaply made, and not good at applying anything. :(
  9. Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick, Royal Red #190
  10. Real Techniques Stippling Brush

Edit1: Sorry, wasn't sure if Real Techniques was drugstore or not. If it isn't, then I'd be very happy with the Maybelline Moisture Lipstick in Royal Red

Thanks for the contest! Flash this.

Bored on the Internet site as awful and materialistic as this is Selfridges is the only website I go on other than reddit. I'm not an Internet person.

2: perfect meal, I've already eaten it. I went to Claridges for my birthday and it was heaven.
Starter was a spiced tiger prawn ravioli
Main: spring chicken with morel cous cous, vegetables and shaved truffles
Dessert: a trio of chocolate mousses (sp?!)

I think this is about $20 if my conversion is correct

My not so recently learned random fact is that the smell the rain leaves is called petrichor (it's always the fact I crack out under pressure)

Edit: formatting

  • Maybelline's Cat-Eye mascara

    NYX Milk!

    I got 5 on it

    Thanks for the contest!

NYX has great liners! I was glammed this set, that I use pretty much every day.

u/lamerdamour · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

It's my party!

What I want most is actually a Sleek palette too! Vintage Romance or Garden of Eden

Happy birthday!

u/jesminka · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

NYX jumbo pencil, please! Thanks for hosting the wishful wednesday :)

u/waytobeoriginal · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Found something under $5! My favorite top coat :]

u/txteva · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I'd be a leaf devil whirlwind, especially right now! A small localised whirlwind of chaos that’s more interesting than actually causing trouble or damage.

I think it sums up my recent holiday attempt too - lots of bad stuff happened (pickpocketed, lost, stuck on trains, lost baggage, missed coach) but it was an interesting holiday and looked pretty like leaves swirling in the sky.

Also we actually get leaf devil whirlwinds over here and most other extreme weather kinda avoids Britain... its more cold, wet and mild... but thats no fun to be!

If it's okay I'd like 3 things? All comes up to under $20 with shipping to UK but I've been dying to test the NYX Milk and the matte lip creams!

NYX COSMETICS JUMBO EYESHADOW EYE PENCIL in 604 Milk & 617 Iced Mocha - $2.25 each

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo - £3.46 -

Shipping is $9.99 to UK
So total $17.95

I think you should go for a darker Auburn color, I think it would look great with your skin. As for haircuts, I really like the androgynous look of Lena Dunham's haircut.

u/Quixle · 4 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I quite like Nude Tude from theBalm, $22.06 right now.

I'm sorry, I don't really have a contour palette to recommend, I don't own any. I use separate products for contouring. This Sleek one is cheap with good reviews.

u/RoswellSpook · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Hmmm my top five are:

  1. Lorac Pro Palette
  2. Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara
  3. Rimmel Eyeliner in brown or black lol
  4. Neutrogena Moisturizer
  5. Revlon Lip Butter in sugar plum

My Pick I got 5 on it

    Thanks for hosting!

I've only recently really invested in my skin, so I am a total newb!

Every morning I wake up and shower, washing my face with the water from the showerhead but nothing else. Then, when I get out, I wash with warm water and the CeraVe hydrating cleanser. I then use a damp wash cloth lightly to (very lightly) exfoliate my face. I let that air dry a bit while I brush my teeth, and then add the CeraVe hydrating moisturizer (the one in the tub), and let that dry for a while. I also use this time to exfoliate my lips about 3x a week with the elf lip exfoliator. Once the moisturizer sets, if I'm not going to be photographed with flash, I will add some sunscreen on my face, mostly in my t-zone.

At night I use the Yes! brand makeup remover pads to get all my makeup off, along with a Neutrogena eye makeup remover (don't remember the exact name). Then I use the CeraVe cleanser and moisturizer again before bed.

I am looking into some masks and lip conditioners, but I haven't gotten that far yet!

Here is my item and Ilovethedaisypup

Awww, happy birthday! '88 babies fo' life!

My pics are a toss-up between theBalm Nude'Tude Palette and Coastal Scents Blush Too Palette, but I have a bunch of eye shadow palettes and not one purple blush, soooooo I guess I need to go with "blush too."

It's my party!

u/Raewynrh · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Holy freaking balls!!! That is so awesome! Congratulations! You must feel a-mazing! I think if i were to win I would looove some real techniques brushes and this pretty highlighter

Also I really can't resist: "Show me the (big) money!"

I've heard such great things about this and I've been dying to try it! Of course, please :P

u/manunderboard · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I'd love this from eBay, or this if you are only using Amazon!

u/oosetastic · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Just FYI, I purchased this back in March and really enjoyed trying the different kinds!

  • When not on Reddit I hang out mostly on Goodreads and occasionally on Passive-Aggressive Notes.

  • My birthday is in a week, so good thing to think about! I think I'd want an extra cheesy lasagna with fresh homemade garlic bread and ceasar salad. I'd skip the cake and take a small mountain of macarons in all different flavors!

  • Surprise me with either this NYX Lipliner Set or possibly a few of the single shadow shades from the Lorac site.
  • Did you know that female Kangaroos (and other marsupials) have three vaginas and that the males have a two pronged penis?
  • Flash this!

Congratulations! I'm trying to quit some bad habits myself, so I'm definitely, INCREDIBLY happy for you!

Errr, I don't really get shiny in the face, but I did just do an intense Just Dance workout and I'm sweaty as a sinner in church! (Though you can't really tell :/) I've been trying to get myself back into shape and get some muscle tone back. This is gonna be the summer that turns everything around :D

u/LIMWZ · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I really want a NYX eye pencil in Milk
however, I've just joined. So disregard that and just enjoy my absolutely hilarious face without one single spec of make up.

u/guardrailslayer · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup
  1. I'm guessing reddit doesn't count. I'm also an on-again-off-again regular at The Pink Room, a chat board for fans of Ju-Ju-Be bags (mostly moms, but lots of nice people there).

  2. Ever since I was a very young kid, my choice birthday meal has been Steak 'Um Roll-Ups. Take Steak Ums, wrap them around stuffing, cover in gravy, mushrooms, and French's fried onions, and bake them. mmmmm

  3. Real Techniques Starter Set & NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese

  4. Some animals, including goats and octopi, have rectangular pupils!

I would DEFINITELY get this and for less than $3? What a steal!! :)

u/willworkforchange · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

How about Daria? Or a flower? I made a flower costume out of a pink poster board, some pieces of velcro, and an elastic band. I wore a green dress to go along with it.

Thanks for hosting!

u/ilessthanthreepugs · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I don't pull faces, I only do professional photoshoots! You can see an example [here]

I would very much like to have this awesome eyepencil in milk, that is never available in good old Germany. Thanks for the contest <3

EDIT: my boyfriend forced me to delete this right after the contest was done, because he doesn't want to be embarressed for the rest of his life :(

u/daynpitseleh · 6 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

This is my cat, Mia.
She's about 11 years old now. I got her when I was in 6th grade. She loved to play with plastic toy balls as a kitten, and I loved soccer, so I named her after Mia Hamm. We had to get her spayed and she was pretty traumatized by her experience. Her personality changed, and she was much more scared of everything. She would never come out if anyone besides my parents, my sister and myself were around, and the doorbell would send her into a panic. As someone who suffers from social anxiety, I could relate (as silly as that sounds) and we got very close to each other.

Over time, she came out of her shell more. It took her five years, but now she will approach my boyfriend and even sit with him. She isn't as scared of things, and she is much more outgoing. I've matured over the same time, and I'm not quite as shy as I used to be.

Currently, I'm in grad school a state away, so Mia is currently staying with my parents. When I was in undergrad, I was able to come home every weekend, so it's been hard to be away for so long. I miss her!

u/mmmmmily · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Thanks for hosting this! I would loooooove this palette. Someone posted swatches a couple weeks ago and now it's on my list.

u/FlaxwenchPromise · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I broke my ankle on a trampoline so I feel you on the pity party. (The percocet helped though.) I drive a stick shift so I had to wait a week before I could put any weight on my foot to drive it because OF COURSE I broke my left ankle.

Here is an album of pretty pictures from Manito Park in Spokane, WA. It's my favorite place to go for all seasons because they keep it so nice.

This is ridiculously pretty to me.

u/residingrebel · 4 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

This would be great because my eyeshadow would look so vibrant :) please!

u/shamac13 · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I want this because I can't for the life of me find it anywhere.

As for what to bake, google "brown sugar cookies cooks illustrated" and thank me later.

u/violinkeri · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

well damn. 9.98 and free shipping. BOOM.

u/BeeLovely · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I've always wanted the Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk, but for some reason (well it's popular so I guess it can be expected?) I can never find it in store! It's either always out of stock or the one time I held one in my was opened and had a brown smear on it.... I was so close darn it.

u/TheSkinnyAmerican · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Here's my ratchet no warpaint face [:)] ( and I'm really self conscious about my tummy (obvs, I'm rather chunky haha), my arms which are covered in raised red bumps of unknown origin, and that one tooth I have that's all crooked and pointy (y'all can see it in the picture) :)
