Alright, first...Happy Early Birthday!!!

Now on to face things.

Skincare

First of all you should check out r/skincareaddiction. Even if you don't want to join the community the FAQ is great.

What I do for my normal/oily skin is every morning and every night I wash with CeraVe Foaming Face Wash which is recommended for oilier skin. So you might want to check that out.

Every 3 days or so I exfoliate with Epicuren which is just from my mom's shop but it's a nice deep scrubs without being too abrasive. You don't want abrasive like with say St. Ive Apricot scrub because you're actually tearing your skin and that's just not very nice. You want to gently exfoliate.

Once a week I use a LUSH face mask. My favorite is Love Lettuce because it's refreshing and exfoliating. Second favorite is definitely Cupcake. I feel so clean and bright after it.

Wipe off your makeup before you go to bed. It's bad for your skin and bad for your sheets. Whatever you do to take it off, just get it off. I use vaseline. It's cheap and easy on my sensitive skin.

Clean your brushes. Clean them. Seriously. What I do is after every makeup application I get a tissue and something with and edge like the edge of my dresser and I wipe the brush over the tissue over the edge to get all the excess makeup out. Then every 2 weeks I do a deep clean. Get a bar of some kind (towel rack, clothes hanger) and rubber bands. Get some warm, running water, and either some baby shampoo or some brush cleaner (though honestly I just use shampoo) and wet your brushes, bristles pointing downwards always. You don't want to get water trapped inside the little metal/plastic attaching ring thingy. Add a dot of shampoo to your hand and swish that brush around. It'll be gross. Good. You'll always remember to do it now that you know how gross your brushes get. Rinse bristles down. Dry bristles down by wrapping the rubber band around the handle and attaching to your rod/hanger.

Makeup

This is what I cannot live without

  1. Naked Basics. This is the best $27 I have ever spent in my life. I use it every single friggin day. All of the colors are perfect neutral mattes from lightest light to darkest dark. I even use one of the colors to fill my eyebrows. It's perfect.

  2. Wet n Wild Liquid Liner. I've become a liquid liner addict. It really helps make it look like I have eyelashes. The brush is very firm and very thin so I always end up with a line where I want it.

  3. Urban Decay 24/7 glide on liner in Smoke. I have very light eye lashes. So I tight line.. Trust me. You want to tight line.

  4. Clump Crusher I love this mascara. It really is non-clumping and while it doesn't give me the longest lashes in the world it makes them look fuller because there's no clumps.

  5. Smashbox BB Cream. This is just the BB cream I use. It does what all the BB creams do but I happen to match the 'Fair' color very well.

  6. Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This shit smells like chocolate. I'm not even joking. I'm new to bronzer, but it's perfect for my skin tone.

  7. Sephora Blush. I'm still learning about blushes but I like that this one is matte. I'm not a sparkle face girl.

  8. Lipstick. I have too many to choose. See this comment I did where I swatch and rated every lipstick I have.

  9. E.L.F eye shadow primer You need primer. No. You need it.

    Makeup For You

So if you're just starting out again you don't want to go spending a stupid amount of money before you figure out what you like. So here are my suggestions for you specifically.

  10. Eyeshadow. Now if you can afford it, I highly recommend Urban Decay Naked Basics. But that's $27. So in lieu of that I suggest you get some Wet n Wild Eyeshadows. Maybe this one or this one.

  11. Eye shadow primer. Go to target and find the ELF section and get primer. It's a dollar and it will make your eye shadow amazing. No reapplying no smudging no creasing. Just perfect perfect eyes. It comes in other colors too, you may want to get a shade darker if you want to match your skin tone.

  12. Eyeliner. I would say get a pencil in either black or dark brown. I don't know if liquid liner is right for your eye shape but if you want to give it a go then you do whatever you want; it's your face.

  13. Eyelashes. Get a lash curler. Two to three curls and you should be good. I'd say black mascara for you.

  14. Eyebrows. I'm not an eyebrow expert but you're probably going to want to shape and fill in your eye brows (unless you love them just the way they are). For shape I'd go to a professional first before you wax at home or go plucking away. Then for filling in you can just use an eyebrow kit. Although I've heard complaint that dark eyebrows are the hardest to find a matching color for :(

  15. BB Cream. I hear Etude house kicks butt and it won't break your bank.

  16. Concealer. I love Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Concealer it's awesome. You want to blend that stuff too, don't just dot it on.

  17. Blush. I think maybe a peachy blush but pictures don't always show stuff right for skin tone so maybe you need pink. I can't really tell.

  18. Bronzer. You've got great cheek bones. I would skip this for now. Unless you're super gungho in which case: I'd check out The Balm.

  19. Lipstick. Cheap and amazing lipstick is NYX and I think a nice natural shade would look great on you. But seriously, if you live near an ulta, nyx is like $3.99-$5.99 for lipstick. It's amazing. Or everyone goes gaga for these Etude House Bunny Glosses.

Anyway, I think you look really great and that's the best start is being confident and having a natural beauty. Also I love your hair. But if you have any questions just let me know :)

Most of my stuff is high-end. Probably not terribly wallet friendly for someone just starting out and trying to figure out what you like...But when you factor in I've been using makeup for (cringe) 26 years and my skin can be incredibly picky...

Invest in the stuff that is closest to your skin...like your foundation. I have not yet tried the Korean BBs but I hear great things about them and the prices seem incredibly easy on the wallet. /u/Feeling_Pretty is our resident expert. I'm just scared to get into them because I can never find swatches online and I'm insanely pale.

I'm personally a fan of the Smashbox BB because my skin doesn't always get along with stuff that already has SPF in it and this one doesn't seem to bother it.

I also love Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner because it wears really well on me - I have issues with eyeliner evaporating by the end of the day. Not the best for travel because of the built-in sharpener (I lost one to the TSA because of that teeny-tiny blade and it made me sad) so plan to chuck it in your checked luggage or have a sub when you travel.

Mascara - go drugstore. I'm using a Stila one right now because I lucked into the Beauty Brands Mascara Sale earlier this year and bought a couple for $9 each - slightly more than I would have paid for a Covergirl or a Maybelline (they usually run $7-$8 where I live). Since you should religiously change your mascara every three months drugstore is better on the wallet.

As for eyeshadow...I can personally vouch for the Lorac Pro and the Stila in the Light palette. Both have good pigmentation and wear beautifully (I do use a primer due to oily lids) and have enough variety in them I can do lots of looks with them. The bonus on the Stila is you also get a coordinating eyeliner.

You can also shop eBay for sample lots. Most of the time it's folks that have amassed a bunch of samples and want to get rid of them. Great way to sample lots of stuff at once - but do look at the seller's feedback rating and read the reviews left in the past six months.

If you're at all comfortable and have one nearby you can't beat a trip to Ulta or Sephora to try stuff out.

Hi there! I'm new too :)
My name is Kirsten - and everybody always gets it wrong, so I respond to anything close! My favorite makeup product is MASCARA! I'm currently in love with Maybelline Falsies and MAC Zoom Lash.

My favorite makeup look is natural, since I work full-time for a non-profit and they frown upon looking too out of the ordinary, but I'm recently getting more into makeup (hence why I am here!) and have been experimenting with some bolder looks which has been super fun.

Hmmm... my interesting fact/story for today would have to be that one of my best friends was in Tyga's 'Make It Nasty' music video (she's in the navy bathing suit with an anchor!) and another one of my friends medaled in synchronized diving at the Olympics (Kelci Bryant)!

An add-on I've been wanting is this gel eyeliner - I haven't tried a gel before and think it would be so fun to experiment with!

Thanks for hosting! :) I hope you have fun choosing! :)

u/PatitoIncognito · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

You need some brushes! Real Techniques is a great brand to start with. They have some nice kits for eyes or face and great single brushes like the expert face brush and blush brush. EcoTools is another inexpensive brand for good quality brushes. Have you tried a lipstick before? Try the brand NYX. I'm around your age and I honestly used to think lipstick was for older ladies (sorry!), but I'm digging it now. Like others have said, primer, concealer, and color tattoos would be good items to add to your collection as well. Update us on what you end up choosing and happy birthday!

Summer Fun

edit: For the prize, if I do happen to win, you can surprise me. =) Thanks for hosting!

u/Feeling_Pretty · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

My favorite makeup has to be blushes. NYX blushes is a really good product. Pigmented, blendable, and the price is just right.

Revlon's Lip Butters is a great lip product. It's kind of like a lipstick and lip balm hybrid. It's somewhat sheer, but depending on the shade you get it can be bold.

Eyeliners...gel eyeliners work really well and it's actually pretty easy to apply too. Maybelline Eyestuido gel eyeliner is one the best gel eyeliner. Waterproof, doesn't smudge, and it glides really well.

Mascaras! Drugstore and high end mascaras work the stay, so I say don't get a high end (unless you have the money to spend of course). Covergirl mascara is really good and everyone really likes their Clump Crusher and Maybelline mascaras are also very good. The Falsies is one of Maybelline's most popular mascaras. Both comes in waterproof, they can hold a curl really well, won't clump your lashes, and of course, they add volume and length!

You are so welcome!! I love answering these types of questions, especially for beginners, so it's no bother at all! :)

The Ultra Mattes V2 palette is super pretty and all matte! They also have the Au Natural palette which has a nice mix of mattes and shimmers. Great for beginners! If you're looking for one with really bright colors, I have the i-Candy and I love it, great for pops of color here and there.

I haven't tried any Wet n Wild eye products so I can't really comment on which is better, but I personally love and trust most things that NYX comes out with. I don't have it myself but I've heard good things about their Suede Palette. They also have eyeshadow singles, which is what I mostly use. You will probably start hearing about these on the makeup subreddits a lot, but their Jumbo Eye Pencils are ahhhhh-mazing. My favorites are Milk, Black Bean, Electric Blue and Lavender :) Check them out if you like cream eye shadows! :)

u/ulurulouwho · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Weirdest thing on my makeup wishlist is this bead organizer. It's about $5 and I use it mainly to store loose eyeshadows!

I love shopping from indie stores and sometimes they give you freebies! Specifically with Shiro, I know she includes a free baggie sample of an eyeshadow. I don't like using them out of the little baggie so I've been meaning to pick these up to store them in. I've got a couple stacked jars like these but I like these ones better since they're little individual ones. Also, the stickers on Shiro fit PERFECTLY on these jars so organizing is becomes much easier!

We all know interspecies romance is weird :)

u/daisyismydog · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

The CeraVe cream is great, it's highly recommended at /r/skincareaddiction which is where I found it. :) I have eczema and it's kind of ridiculous that I didn't find out about it earlier in life (only discovered it 2 months ago)!

Yay for hand-me-down eyeshadows from moms! I just got 2 today, but they're relatively new since she bought some stuff at Lancome recently and got it for free. And, as far as mascara goes I've read in a lot of magazines and stuff that since pros use so much of it they just buy the cheapest stuff at the drugstore. It's something about the only real differences being whether or not it's waterproof and the brush. But a lot of people are into CoverGirl Clump Crusher and if you're in the States that would be a good place to start.

I just got a RealTechniques set yesterday (as a glam!) and used it today and it works pretty well. I got the starter set (for eyes) so if you're looking for that it might be an option it's ~$15! Are there any specific brushes you're looking for? If your price range is a little higher, Sigma brushes are supposed to be great too.

For a nude eye palette, if you like Urban Decay Naked1 ($50), Naked2 ($50), or Naked Basics ($27) might be good options. If you're looking to just try something there's an NYX Nude on Natural palette that might work.

u/42spleens · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Hello and welcome! You can always ask for tips and tricks here, there are a lot of super helpful people here!! I would suggest starting maybe with a neutral palette like Nyx Caviar and Bubbles or something along those lines (I just got that palette glammed to me a little while ago and it quickly became my favourite!) Neutrals are a good place to start because you can practice blending and whatnot, without it being too obvious that you are inexperienced (because they are neutral colours and don't show up as much!). Other than that, all I can say is practice as much as you can! And ask questions as needed :) Also, feel free to creep on other peoples wishlists for ideas of what to put on your own, haha! I definitely do that lol ;)

u/Traceyt715 · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

You are so amazingly generous for doing this! I honestly have never owned anything YSL so I don't know about the quality but I've heard so many great things about it! This is my favourite lipstick of theirs I believe, I've been dying for a deep winter red! Best of luck to all you awesome ladies and thanks again to you and YSL Mystery Glammer! :)

u/not0your0nerd · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I hope you feel better soon! I'd like to try this Pore Clearing Petit BB Cream and one of my favorite songs when I need cheering up is this one, (I am) The Love Addict by Lonely Forest. I love how upbeat it is and the lyrics are awesome.

u/pukebear · 5 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I absolutely love my UD lipstick in Apocalypse. I CantLiveWithoutIt . It's kind of dark to wear every day, but I try to wear it whenever I get the chance. Here's one of my favorite ways to wear it..

I'd love this gel eyeliner. I've been wanting to use gel for awhile now, I'm just a little afraid of it!

Thanks for the contest. :)

u/thanksagainhank · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I don't know if your contest extends to Canada, but either way I'd like to enjoy a Peach Parfait as a sweet treat. :)

u/shrmnmss · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Hooray for another flash contest!!

Blue Scandal has this NYX blush in Angel cheaper and with free shipping.

Easiest breakfast item that I make and the family loves:

Sausage Bake

  • 2 cans Crescent Rolls
  • 1 lb sausage
  • 1 pkg cream cheese

Roll out one crescent roll can into a 9x13 pan. I always go ahead and bake this for about 6-7 mins, otherwise the bottom might not bake all the way and will be soggy.

Cook your sausage, drain, and add cream cheese while it is hot.

Spread mixture over layer of crescent rolls

Roll out second can of crescent rolls for the top layer.

Bake according to crescent roll instructions.

    Easy and delish!

    Thanks for hosting!!

Breakfast is cereals (the nice ones with chocolates in them!) and boiled eggs with solders (pretty much the only time we do boiled eggs!). It doesn't sound like much but its our tradition. And sometimes we get cake after breakfast.

I am IN LOVE with this one: Ultimate Beige

My new love affair is with this eyeliner

If you haven't tried it, find it. It's a great, lasting color and really smooth on application :)

Hope you find some good stuff here!

That was a cool video! It was the first KPOP music i've actually listened to and I liked it! Was that even KPOP? I probably don't know what I'm talking about. ANYWAYS, Here is my entry! I did a bright lip with a yellow/purple/pink eye. SNSD

Here is a link to something off of my wishlist if I happen to win. Thanks for holding the contest <3

u/LittleMissBlue · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

The lip color is Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 025: Peach Parfait. CAN YOU BELIEVE MY MOM DIDN'T WANT THIS AND JUST GAVE IT TO ME BRAND NEW?! It actually looks way better in person than I could capture with my crappy selfies. I'd like to note that it's way pinkier on me and in person than it is in the pictures on Amazon, not sure why that is (maybe it would go on more like those pictures if I were to use LipErase or some such product first). It's quite sparkly regardless!

I like my brow shape but the hairs are so looong and go astray all the time. Texture-wise (if that makes sense?) I would much prefer it if my brows were more like my friend's brows here. How do I get them like this? I'm sooo afraid to trim them short myself! I've had my brows waxed before but never groomed like this. Who do I go to?

You've made a strange request but since you took the time to type all this up for me I will honor it!

u/owltattoo · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I just purchased the Sleek i-Divine Mattes Brights (V1) Palette from Amazon last week. It arrived about four weeks early (!), and I am STOKED. I got it as a lesser alternative to UD Electric, and honestly, it's pretty great so far. The only thing is the shadows are just a LITTLE bit less opaque than Electric. The yellow is honestly rather comparable, which is saying a lot because yellow is hard to get right.

Also, guys. GUYS. This shadow DOESN'T. FUCKING. BUDGE. Even without the primer, it legitimately doesn't come off. It's still stuck on my damn arm, and it's been five hours since I swatched. Even the white is just as bright!

The quality is INSANE. And GUYS. I only paid $8.99, plus $2.50 shipping for it. ELEVEN FUCKING DOLLARS AND FORTY-NINE CENTS, Y'ALL.

So this is like, my best purchase ever. EVER. Buy it. Now.

I'm probably getting Acid or Snapshot next.

u/cleverpseudoname · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I would definitely listen to Daisyismydog on the moisturising front, and add in my two cents and say I prefer to use my BB cream to a regular foundation for my dry skin's sake; my BB cream stays flexible and moist during the day and is higher coverage, and it doesn't cling to the flakes. I have other products I use when my skin is not so dry in the summer, but for winter, it's gotta be the BB. I use this and here's what it looks like.

A lot of the flawless looks you see also have help from proper priming and application. There's a lot to learn but I would say start with keeping your skin well moisturised and use a more creamy foundation or BB cream. I am referring to Korean and Japanese BB creams here, not American brands...

^they ^never ^seem ^to ^get ^the ^idea ^of ^what ^a ^BB ^is ^actually ^supposed ^to ^be...be. ^:P

It's my party!

If it was my birthday I think I would want some eye makeup. Colors make me nervous but I think this purple palette would suit me and of course I'd need Milk with it. I also need a new kabuki brush, a new face brush and some beauty blenders. I'd probably ask for one of these "sets" or a combination of these items.

Happy birthday and thanks for hosting!

I used the NYX Nude On Nude Natural Look Kit on my eyes and lips, also a little bit in my brows. They are ok, I like it use it when I want a light look. Works a lot better with an eye primer. The lips stuff is a nice color, haven't tried the pink one yet. I don't use it much because you have to have a lip brush to apply it. It is a super tiny palette, which is good for travel but I'm sure it will run out soon. I used to use my fingers to apply shadow, can't really do that with this.

Okay, here are three things I really love that were on my wishlist: Illuminating finishing powder, red carpet palette , and In the Garden.

Awesome contest!

I have Petal Pusher and it's pretty nice. Comfort Zone is good, too, though probably not what you're looking for :)

YSL Mystery Glammer! I would love this color. It looks like a perfect nude from all the swatches I've seen!

u/TheGreenBasket · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Well my favorite palettes are this one (I didn't buy it for quite that much. Haha! I got it for about a fifth of that price.) and this one. Looks like the In the Garden is on sale again!

thank you so much for hosting!

u/misserinmay · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Curiously, what kind of foundation are you looking for (matte, full coverage, etc.?) I trend towards BB Creams myself and I have this (which is lighter) and this (which is heavier), but both work pretty well. :)

Disclaimer: I'm a newbie, so they may not be the best options.

  • Here is my entire brush collection, including my favorite(s).

  • My first brush probably came with a classic cover girl blush...but for real, real, it was the Clinque set my sister got me for Christmas approximately 12-15 years ago. They sat dormant for a while, and about 6 years ago, I started using them, and still do. I guess I've just taken good care of them.

  • This is my coveted/holy grail/ dream brush.

    Brush love...obviously lol

OMG you are so generous! Thank you so much for hosting. I've always wanted a YSL lipstick with that gorgeous packaging. Here is the one Ive been drooling over.

I'm in Canada, I've never won a contest or been glammed :P

I'm Lana and I absolutely love this community, I look forward to talking to everyone in chat everyday! I don't have any real life girlfriends - or at least none that are interested in makeup. I really love all of you ladies, you're all so inspiring and so friendly! I also really enjoy doing contest makeup or makeup in general on cam with other girls, I always learn something new! ♥♥

Sigh, nothing on amazon.ca or it's either 3x the price ;(

I'd like either a little spatula to scoop out any product (I still need a metal mixing palette but I'll get one eventually) or this NYX lip liner because I only have 1 lip liner and it's clear.

I'm sorry that none are eligible for prime, Canada just sucks :(

u/prynceszh · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I don't own a YSL lipstick, or any high end lipstick for that matter! If I won, I would love to receive YSL Rouge Volupte in 03 Ultimate Beige. I think I found an Amazon link for it? There are 2 Wet N Wild palettes I reach for when I want purples:

  • Wet N Wild "Lust" Palette

  • Wet N Wild 8-Pan Palette in "Petal Pusher"

My favorite combination lately has been "Standoffish", "Sultry" and "Sexy" from TheBalm's NudeTude palette!

I'm purchasing some jars to store them in now that I'm done hauling for a while.

I'm torn between using the [Darice 1.5" Diameter x .75" Tall]
(http://www.amazon.com/Darice-2025-251-Clear-Container-Storage/dp/B002DPINS6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406499805&sr=8-1&keywords=bead+storage&dpPl=1) and the Darice .75" Diameter x .1" Tall. While I want them to be the same 5 gram jars that Shiro and HW use, so they're all around the same height, but it's so much cheaper to buy the large pack with Amazon Prime.

I try to donate to local out reach programs as often as possible, When I have the extra funds I donate food to the food bank, toiletry items to the local womens shelter and to the local animal shelter. Last year we donated a box that weighed 54 LBS to the womens shelter full of travel sized soaps, shampoo, lotion, razors, cosmetics and more. I believe their is real karma in life and always try to balance out the good karma I receive by giving back and participating in the community as well.

When I worked as a cashier I hated when families would come in and end up being a few dollars short on groceries, diapers, what ever you name it I could see the hurt and worry on their faces so even though I could have gotten in trouble for it there were quite a few times I would lower the prices of items so they could afford their grocery bill. Hopefully one day they will be able to pay it forward as well.

I would say: One, Two, Three, & Four. Thank you for hosting this giveaway the stories shared here are so sweet I have read a few and plan on reading the rest.

Edit: I see now you added (or i missed lol) add ons! I was literally just eyeballing This today and whimpering to my husband about how I didn't want to spend 35$ to get it!
