$550, It's a great laptop for the price. Down side is no touch screen, which to some people doesn't matter. Battery life is great, runs great, I've generally had nothing bad happen with it so far.
This is a Windows 8 issue. I know exactly what you're talking about. The design reasoning is good, but it's not helpful when gaming.
Somewhere in the settings, there's a way to disable the feature. I'll look into it for you.
EDIT: Okay so if you go to the App Metro (start key) and search "Mouse", one of the first things that should come up is Mouse and Touchpad Settings. Click that and it'll bring you to another screen. The setting at the bottom, called Touchpad is the thing you want to adjust. If you switch it to "Delay (Always on)" then you won't have the problem you're having. Problem solved! :)
I would suggest buying a cheap mouse for now though, there are several cheap ones on the market which are wireless and very nice.
