I don’t agree with OP’s premise at all, but your statement is pretty ignorant. Masha Gessen has written extensively on Russia/Putin & won the National Book Award for her last book. I highly recommend checking it out if you have aspirations of being knowledgeable in global politics.

  Everyone knew. Unless you get your news from reality TV shows. And ignore facts that you don't like. Hell, just the fact that he didn't release his tax returns was a red flag. You just have a habit of ignoring warning signs you don't like.
