I don't even think we'll get that far. I honestly believe that once we create proper A.I. it will snowball out of control in a matter of months and it will turn against us. Their communist plans are mere fever dream when it comes to A.I. "Well, if the robots are nice to us, don't destroy the human species, and actually are subservient to us, then our Communist fever dream could work"

Yeah, okay, it's like trying to decide whether you want chicken or fish for the in-flight meal while the plane is going down.

I recommend reading Superintelligence if you want to get more theroies about it.

Also, check out the little-known history of "How the Church Aided 'Heretical' Astronomy". If you think this sounds fringe, the book about this was written by a distinguished historian of science who taught at Berkeley, Oxford, and Yale, and was published by the Harvard University Press.

.....................

"Between 1650 and 1750, four Catholic churches were the best solar observatories in the world. Built to fix an unquestionable date for Easter, they also housed instruments that threw light on the disputed geometry of the solar system, and so, within sight of the altar, subverted Church doctrine about the order of the universe.

A tale of politically canny astronomers and cardinals with a taste for mathematics, The Sun in the Church tells how these observatories came to be, how they worked, and what they accomplished. It describes Galileo’s political overreaching, his subsequent trial for heresy, and his slow and steady rehabilitation in the eyes of the Catholic Church. And it offers an enlightening perspective on astronomy, Church history, and religious architecture, as well as an analysis of measurements testing the limits of attainable accuracy, undertaken with rudimentary means and extraordinary zeal. Above all, the book illuminates the niches protected and financed by the Catholic Church in which science and mathematics thrived."

..............

"To set a date for Easter Sunday years in advance, and thus reinforce the church's power and unity, popes and ecclesiastical officials had for centuries relied on astronomers, who pondered over old manuscripts and devised instruments that set them at the forefront of the scientific revolution.

According to Dr. Heilbron, the church "gave more financial and social support to the study of astronomy for over six centuries, from the recovery of ancient learning during the late Middle Ages into the Enlightenment, than any other, and probably, all other, institutions."

Dr. Heilbron, 65, is professor emeritus and vice chancellor emeritus at the University of California at Berkeley and a senior fellow at Worcester College, Oxford, England. He lives in England and travels widely to study old solar observatories...

...In the book and an article in The Sciences, a journal of the New York Academy of Sciences, Dr. Heilbron shows that the observatory findings (usually made in sight of a cathedral altar) often contradicted church dogma of that time.

The Jesuits, for instance, used observatories to confirm theories about Earth movement, which they were forbidden to teach...

...Dr. Richard S. Westfall, a historian of science, in 1989 wrote that Rome's handling of Galileo made Copernican astronomy a forbidden topic among faithful Catholics for two centuries.

Not so, Dr. Heilbron claims. Rome's support of astronomy was considerable.

"The church tended to regard all the systems of the mathematical astronomy as fictions," Dr. Heilbron wrote. "That interpretation gave Catholic writers scope to develop mathematical and observational astronomy almost as they pleased, despite the tough wording of the condemnation of Galileo."

What Time Is It in the Transept?
An introduction to the astronomical instruments in some of Europe's greatest churches.

"Nor was the church the monolith it pretended to be. The Bologna Academy of Sciences learned as much when the cardinal-president of the Index itself gave them an elegant model of the heavens to display in their quarters -- with the sun at the center! He had a taste for Copernicus himself, but it made them so nervous that they made two earth-centered models to go next to it.

In the end, the cleric-astronomers at their meridians never had to forswear the Copernican hypothesis, precisely because that was the church's only hard and fast rule: the sun-centered universe had to be treated as a hypothesis. As long as one said somewhere that one was not dealing in absolute truth, one was largely free to get on with the business of technical astronomy"

Anyone going to buy Hillary's explanation for the 2016 campaign 'What Happened'?

Looks like it'll be really great to read, I'm sure it'll be completely honest and not at all a blame fest.

Better is Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign.

Actually discusses some of the hubris and poor strategy employed during the campaign. Would recommend reading, even if you're pro-Trump (which I think a good portion of this subreddit is, or at least conservative-leaning) it's a good look at what actually happened.

Additional but I doubt you'll read past the source as your intelligence requires everything to be broken down into itty bitty digestible sizes.

Do you need me to chew it up and spit it in your mouth like a baby bird too, darling?

> Memphis barbecue is the best.

-_-

Them's fighting words!

I'm not originally Texan... but I took up the barbeque when I moved here, because it's so good.

Good guide. Also have Raichlen's Project Smoke book.

I should get that one.

It's not a simple question. Here's an excellent book on the subject

Long story short there are barriers to marriage. Motherhood is a pathway to fulfillment for people who are deprived of opportunities to upward social mobility.

u/Gizortnik · 26 pointsr/ShitPoliticsSays

Yup.

Comes form one of the best books I've ever read as a fan of military history. The low-kinetic warfare of tribal societies and the high-kinetic warfare of medieval European societies were unprepared to engage with each other and caused absolute chaos.

I took a women’s studies class in college (curiosity, not to get pussy). It was absolutely worthless. We spent half the semester discussing a book about Brazilian transgender prostitutes. No joke.

This was the book: https://www.amazon.com/Travesti-Brazilian-Transgendered-Prostitutes-Sexuality/dp/0226461009. It was interesting, but not the type of thing I envisioned studying in college.

> Israel is an actual ally

hahaha

> continuing to exist in their ancestral Homeland

oh man, let's try that line with the palestinians they displaced, or better yet, white swedes

i can't believe i have to clarify white swedes. I wonder what group was behind the big push for perpetual war in the Middle East and then pushed for refugee settlement in europe

I remember when that book came out detailing the insider trading and horrible corruption going on in the halls of Congress. As I recall, 75% of the politicians mentioned negatively in the book are Democrats with the remainder obviously being Republicans. Guess who /r/politics ragged on . . .

> Yeah he stopped going after state legal weed dispensaries, something the Trump administration wants to start doing again.

Not enforcing the law (as the executive branch) isn't doing something about it. Trying to push for the reformation of marijuana would be doing something about it. Speaking of which, Trump is not enforcing it either, but I guess that wouldn't matter to you because [narrative]. Sessions wants to continue enforcing the law, since ya know... that's literally his job. BTW, there's a big push in the Republican party to get it decriminalized and it's met with some positive partisan support. This is actually trying to do something about pot, not the lip-service from Obama.

> Oh yeah the guy who threw a shit fit over a black guy silently protesting racism, who said Mexico is sending us racists, 'jokingly' encouraged police brutality, and whose election was praised by neo-nazi, that isn't as bad as Obama. /s

Is everything viewed through a lens of racism in 2018 to you? Also, since when is Mexican a race? Also also, can you please explain to me how neo-Nazi's support an Israel loving, Jewish family having, pro-LGBT President? I mean, unless neo-Nazi's all of a sudden really like Jews.

> Wait you think communism means having any kind of welfare at all? Do you think America is communist, because we do have welfare.

There's quite a few shades of gray here but you only want to see black and white. The general idea of the government give-aways in the name of helping people is twisted because it creates dependency on the state instead of being individuals who can stand up on their own. Expanded welfare hurts - and if you want to see how it hurts, look at the black communities that have been ravaged by families being dependent on government hand-outs. It's sad but I'm glad the attitude is slowly changing.

> So? He could've freed them the minute he got them.

> Actions speak louder than words, and his actions were to fight for a group of traitors trying to preserve slavery.

> These statues are honoring traitors fighting to keep people slaves.

I've never seen such a simple-minded view of history, let alone historic figures like General Lee. Ain't no helping you here - get some education and read about him more in depth than a modern hit-piece by Democrat supporting MSM. Like, actually do some research. I tried linking something to help your understanding, but I guess it wasn't worth your time. This is an excerpt from a book; the book can be found on Amazon here. Good luck.

> I've given you 6 or 7 links showing that yes they do support Trump. I never said they were smart so it doesn't surprise me they support the dude who was saying Mexico is sending us rapists.

Again your only argument for neo-nazi's supporting him was some people on Stormfront who did exactly what MSM did by picking out a phrase with no context and run wild with. You also failed multiple times to explain why they are able to excuse all the pro-Jewish and pro-Capitalist actions of Trump. Nazi's (National Socialists) aren't a big fan of Capitalism because, like Hitler, they see a connection between that and Jews. As for the Mexican issue, a) Mexican isn't a race b) MS-13 are literal rapists and murderers and have been flooding the US from Mexico and c) better southern boarder protection will stop many killers and rapists from coming into the country.

That, too, comes out of the MiniTru handbook. "Conspiracy theory" is a pejorative was proliferated by the CIA via its press contacts in the wake of JFK's killing in order to lump anyone doubting the official position in with complete crackpots. Thus implying the murder of Seth Rich is just as a ridiculous idea as a flying saucer hiding behind Halley's Comet, for example.

> The fact that the Daily Mail's story proved to be defamatory is irrelevant

This is liberals folks. The court of law is a fucking joke to them. No wonder they can't figure anything out. They're so based in the "feels" world that real stats, real laws, and real ANYTHING is a fucking scary insurmountable obstacle to them.

Any idea how many books Obama and Michelle slung while in office, shit for brains?

Any idea how they managed to grow their net worth to the tune of MILLIONS while in office ?!
