Okay. A lot of really good recommendations here, but if you really want the best headphones under $50, you need to get these:
Koss Porta Pro On Ear Headphones with Case, Black / Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00001P4ZH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XsHxDbS2R6ZTF
Now hear me out. These are definitely the ugliest headphones out there, but it’s because they’ve been tried and true since ‘84 and Koss hasn’t redesigned them since. But they’re hands down the best quality sounding headphones under $50. Don’t believe me? Just read the reviews.
I have a pair and Fear Inoculum sounds great on them. I do have a higher end pair of sennheisers that sound way better, but I paid hundreds of dollars for those. If you’re on a budget, get these. Who cares how they look. Sit at home alone, close the door, put these on and enjoy.
By the way, I’ve used G35s and the Koss’ sound better.
some things are best to be clued into and let one discover for oneself. i've read a bunch of books & authors (still am reading) from tool's recommended reading material, like Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell and Bob Frissell You Are a Spiritual Being Having a Human Experience. I even admit to owning a Drunvalo Melchizedek book on the Flower of Life which reads like a New Age Bullshit Hippy Dippy Textbook on advanced circle drawing with a compass. I like the idea on the Flower of Life but Melchizedek is waayy out there. Maynard talked about that briefly in his book. I finally got around to John Crowley's Aegypt recently, which is actually a series of 4 novels, very good and I highly recommend it. Crowley is such a great writer and there's times you can clearly see influence in mjk's lyrics. There's a book called The Secret History of the World that covers these subjects through human history, if you are curious it's a great resource.
>Paul D’Amour, the original bassist of Tool, returns to the world of heavy music with Feersum Ennjin’s self-titled debut on November 15, marking his first foray into hard rock since he parted ways with Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, and Danny Carey in 1995.
The article isn't entirely correct. Paul put out a self-titled Feersum Ennjin EP back in 2005 that was really good. Definitely worth picking up.
Additionally, the Lusk - Free Mars record he did in 1997 was absolutely fantastic. In my top 10 of all time.
Stoked to hear the new record for sure.
I feel you. Someone asked a similar question a while back on this sub, and reading it inspired me to do the same thing you're doing (except I gotta wait till I have cash). I'm no headphone expert, but I'm looking at this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AJIF4E/?coliid=ITIAINALHR3A8&colid=2THBFA5PBC5KC&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Speaking of which, if this is a bad decision, someone let me know! I play electric guitar, so I am hoping this will be good for both casual listening and guitar practice.
I like both. The miniseries is longer, and gets into a little more detail with things, and the effects are overall better.
Visually, it's a lot lighter, too. Here's the trailer. If you like Dune, I think it's worth a watch.
You can only imagine the creativity I had to have to fit Tool songs (as well as anything else) on the Rio player. I could fit maybe a whole 16 songs on that bad boy if I sacrificed intelligently... and assuming they were maybe a standard 4-5 minutes in length.
The symbol used on Danny’s cymbal is also on the cover of John Crowley’s Aegypt novel. It’s interesting, considering others are mentioning the connection to the Aenima spelling. Not sure the name of that symbol though.

Yeah it's only $300 brand new on Amazon
This one is I believe. It's an interesting read, if a little bizarre.

1 copy available for $188.

Onkyo DXC390 6 Disc CD Changer.
Now you just need a 7 CD player for Salival...
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 650's and a FiiO E17K Aspen 2 portable DAC.
Those two combined with the proper EQ settings for the headphones = fucking Nirvana.
That setup plus the FLACs from HDtracks is going to be my experience for the new album.
That's not true... these are just 2 projects that come to mind:
Thanks!
My problem wasn't searching them, it was understating what I was seeing. The Amazon page for Lateralus was very confusing because I couldn't even tell what was going on with the cover. All I saw was the black cover with the eyes on the side and the name of the band and the album. Same goes for the Ænima page.
>Not for lack of trying, I could never find their CD’s ANYWHERE
Yeah, it's a real shame Amazon hasn't had every Tool album ever available upon release for the past 20 odd years or so. 🤷♂️
> I think psychedelics might be wasted on the young
Michael Pollan
I was pissed when I got duped out of $10 for this goddamn thing. All their albums are easily worth the money and I'll probably even buy a CD of their next one when it comes out, but some of the other stuff they release seems to be designed to dupe money out of overzealous fans.
