Bought used online and never used it myself. Very good condition - asking for $30 cash (based on this), but willing to negotiate a bit. Used for CS-3733-D19 Software Engineering with Professor Wong (not sure what books Heineman requires). PM me if you are interested. I can come to campus on a weekend to exchange. I will post this again in August before classes start if it doesn't sell by then.

Yeah you should have room. You'll probably end up sacrificing some workspace.

Here's what I got away with in my Daniels Hall dorm room to give you a rough idea of space. That's a 24" monitor on a monitor arm-mount. If you're just using regular stands for your monitors, I highly recommend buying a triple-monitor mount or something like that to give you more real estate on your desk.

A thinkpad t420s is awesome for this, and they go for ~$140 these days. It supports up to 16gb ram, and with a fresh SSD and new battery, it is a top spec machine for bottom basement prices. They are built like tanks, all magnesium construction, and should last for quite a few years. It came out in 2011, when i got mine and promptly started beating on it. It is still without any noticeable flaw. And at 3.9 lb it is on par with the chromebook, but with the specs of a modern desktop replacement. The only downside is that it is without a discrete graphics card.

When you remove the kettle is the plate that is left behind hot? If so, it would be a no go. I had an electric kettle like this.
