It shouldn't be too difficult to find novels that match some of your criteria. Unusual mental states are pretty common, usually in the first person of either an animal or someone with a disorder, and there are tons of lists online. See for example: here or here. There also seem to be extensive lists of surrealist novels.

Personally, I recommend Tales from Outer Suburbia. You can take a look at the preview offered by amazon, and pictures on google images.

The Night Circus might fit. It's a good book either way.

Have you read any of the books in the Dire Saga? Dire Worm is a crossover, but the author has, like, actual published books. As of the end of DIRE:TIME, it's still fairly early in Doctor Dire's story, but I am very impressed with where the series has gone thus far. It's not Worm, or Worm fanfiction, but it scratches the same sort of itch.

For a true Visionary Villain, you would find it hard to defeat DOCTOR DIRE in the story Dire Worm.

A Tinker sent through dimensions by a Hero Team whom she has faced off against many times, Dire ends up in the Wormverse and allies herself with the Undersiders as she seeks to rebuild Brockton Bay as she thinks it should be.

Sadly, the story is currently on Hiatus, but Doctor Dire's adventures prior to her landing in Brockton Bay are available for purchase.

And yes, Taylor gets recruited by Dire...

Have you already read the (actual books, not fanfic) Reckoner series? It starts with Steelheart

Fanfics are nice too, but I haven't really been engaged by any for Worm yet.

Remember to read the actual series Dire's from, the Dire Saga, even though Dire Worm was written first. There's only 6 books, and it looks the author won't write more. :(

Propa in Worm contains everything from Thanos to the ultimate faceoff of ketchup vs. mustard. It also has a dramatic reading.

Betrayal may be the highest quality garbage the fandom has ever produced. The author is banned, the story kills off every precog within the first chapter, and Miss Militia is very into mercy killing.
