hmmm . . . . fans . . . . essential for indoors (you don't get the airflow you have biking outside) .. ... these are pretty good value https://www.amazon.com/Lasko-Pro-Performance-Blower-4900/dp/B001DNGSCM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1549474949&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=Lasko+2265QM+20-Inch one is good, two are ideal.
Lasko makes some nice powerful fans. Something like this one has worked for many years for me. Multiple speeds and a remote so you can adjust while riding.
Edit: the tilting makes it superior to a box fan.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated.
I am trying to be honest in what I chose but not sure how to make it more accurate. I think I'll just buy a smart trainer sometime...
I had to choose the 'other' options in the trainer selection.
This is mine https://www.amazon.com/Forza-pdh70022-Sunlite-F-2-Trainer/dp/B000QRMUHI
I got the tacx official sweat catcher one but I’m not sure how useful it is. I got this fan Honeywell HT900E Turbo Fan https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001VEJFT6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KuWVCbPF2RQR2
Excellent.
I bought this trainer for $60 on amazon. Been using it for a year with zero problems on both my road and mountain bikes. I had tested my friends smart trainer at first and realized I did not like the feeling so I bought this on a whim just until I figured out what I really wanted...now I don't really plan to upgrade at this point. Works fine for zwift.

Why would he need to reach out to Hunter Allen?
Given what OP is asking about here, he'll just end up asking Hunter about things already covered in his book: Training and Racing with a Power Meter
I mean, you can also just read the various beginner guides in /r/Velo, listen to a few podcasts, and get enough knowledge to train yourself effectively. Coaching, especially from someone at the top of the field, can come after you've mastered the basics.
A cadence sensor is one thing you don't actually need. What you will need if using a 'classic' trainer is a speed sensor, Wahoo RPM speed sensors are excellent. But if you're buying a trainer from scratch get one which will transmit all this for you. This is about as cheap as they come http://www.halfords.com/cycling/turbo-trainers/trainers/tacx-blue-matic-t2650-smart-turbo-trainer?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Turbo+Trainers-_-Trainers-_-212792&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=atqpqlpqx&istBid=tzxm&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:868641114|agid:42483203943|tid:pla-329276419814|crid:203186067057|nw:g|rnd:18082421964709484587|dvc:c|adp:1o1|mt:|loc:9046802&gclid=Cj0KCQiAl8rQBRDrARIsAEW_To8ZjkqYombRPVzh0AEFR5dLUyEE1mYBFXnCAdZr6gPFgriBfjhG0mgaAjV5EALw_wcB you won't need any more sensors but keep in mind this trainer does not adjust grade. For that you want the Tacx Flow which is £220.
Bluetooth for PC is not supported on Zwift. So you'll need an ANT+ dongle instead. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Suunto-Movestick-Mini-Pen-Drive/dp/B0050GL5GM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511169246&sr=8-1&keywords=sunnto+mini+move+stick
Also keep in mind that it doesn't run on every PC or at least not brilliantly.
Get a small blower type fan that is normally used by carpet cleaners. They move a lot of air in a concentrated path. You can set it up just far enough away to hit your entire upper body. I have this and it works well : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006O6FA22/
These work better than a mat. I just put them under main contact points of my trainer.

Thanks. I think I'm going to order this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007M4I8G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can move it myself and I am in no way in the running for a strong man competition. While a tad heavy, it's more awkward getting it through doors and around corners.
Parts List:

Straps to anchor the trainer: (Way to long) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PL4H0O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got one of these
Much cheaper than the official ones and you can move it around and up and down.

I have this riser. Should the board be under the entire bike or just the trainer? Only asking because i thought it was supposed all be under one surface.
You have an 8 speed bike you need an 8 speed cassette. For example https://www.amazon.com/SRAM-PG850-8-Speed-Cassette/dp/B000NNX2P4?crid=1BMU5JJY077TK
Not sure what county you're in, but here's a European version of the remote control product I use:
https://www.amazon.de/Funksteckdosen-Fernbedienungen-Funkschalter-Weihnachtsschmuck-Haushaltsger%C3%A4te/dp/B07999P6XZ/ref=sr_1_52?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=Etekcity&qid=1574778409&sr=8-52
Use that to control two of these affordable Honeywell fans:
https://www.amazon.de/Honeywell-HT-900E-Kraftvoller-ger%C3%A4uscharmer-Turbo-Ventilator/dp/B003KHJO6G/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=Honeywell+HT-908&qid=1574778614&sr=8-1
It sounds like your computer is losing connection to your trainer. If you're connecting via an ANT+ adapter, consider getting a USB extension cable. I had the same problem, got a cable and never had the problem again. If you're connecting via Bluetooth, you'll need to move the computer closer to the trainer if possible.
I got this [Feedback Sports Sport Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001F2S824/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on Amazon. It is really nice and stable and I will probably never have to replace it. I had the Tacklife Bicycle Repair Stand but it was really unstable and my bike kept falling over so I returned it.
Here's one:

You do what you want but for some reason I'm nervous about buying apple stuff on amazon, so I get it right from apple. More expensive but no doubts that it will work correctly.
