I honestly don't know shit about Japan, but I know, that they have a view that they value higher the spirit than the material things; they believe material is just temporary while spirit is for ever (every anime fan knows that I guess, at least from shounen). So my interpretation is that the 'real THING' can mean actual objects, while 'more real' refers to the abstract word 'real' here.

However, we'll never know that without actually getting information. I'm really curious so I downloaded this book, and so far I find it very interesting. I recommend it for everyone's own pleasure.

Cool, great timing. Happy shopping!

By the way, I've also purchased acrylic risers that really helps make your display look better. The figures are typically much shorter than each individual shelf so the risers help balance the look.

u/huurrdurr tends to have a lot of nice Monogatari stuff, I have bought from them twice now and never been disappointed. All their stuff is official art too. There's also some stuff on Amazon as well like this Hitagi wall scroll that I saw in a Monogatari group that was actually really nice looking for the price.

You can always check websites like Mandarake and Amiami for secondhand posters/art/anything as well, they have all kinds of stuff.

The JP versions also cost more than the US ones (Bakemonogatari is ~$170 USD before shipping from Amazon.co.jp. Although I think the quality of the packaging and such is better to reflect that.

Were those this? Because the pictures don't let me know if they're the same as the box set that's ~ $150-220 in the States. If it's a cheaper/simpler version, I'd like to know.

Well, maybe, Madoka Magica: Rebellion had English subs too. It also had Aniplex's involvement, which put out the USA release (note Rebellion in English on the cover, and that it's in Region A/1 only unlike All Regions for the Japan release). So who knows what will happen until the vendors update the track information on their listings.

Not too bad, $10 plus some shipping. :) If you find somewhere to buy the series 1 Hitagi ill give you a million dollars. Been looking for it for a while

Here's a link to a box set with them all.

If you don't want to wait until December 17th for the set, here's each of them individually: Neko White, Kabuki, Hana, Otori, Oni, and Koi.

Your life is not complete until you have Kanbaru

That figure, along with this have been on my wishlist for some time. The model is just ridiculously expensive, so it's unlikely I'll ever get it. If I'm spending that much money on something, it's going to be on a Boba Fett bust.

I couldn't find a yellow zip-up hoodie with the same yellow and black stripe as Karen's. :( I'm not really knowledgeable about cosplay but I think it's possible to buy one without the black stripes and dye or paint them on somehow?

One thing I learned as I was trying to answer was that Karen's jacket looks a lot like Bruce Lee's outfit in Kill Bill, but with a hood. That probably doesn't help either. :( (Sorry, I just felt I should make an effort to answer after the only other comment was toothbrush.)
