I highly recommend Circular Knitting Workshop by Margaret Radcliffe. It has a little bit of everything, certainly many new things to try and includes some cool patterns.

Stitch 'n Bitch!

It's funny and teaches the basics well. It comes with a few patterns.

His regular blog (linked in the tumblr) is a great read. There's also a book of knitting cartoons that he did.

Thanks! It's the Congenial pattern out of the "Big Book of Quick Knit Afghans"

It's the third afghan I've knit from this book and they all knit up really fast.

I don't really have a pattern per se, I got the technique out of a book called Modular Knitting ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/161212996X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ovnvDbS55YGJP ).

I used a stitches pattern out of the book that reminded me of bees, but then changed to bobbles to nubs, because I hate bobbles. I would tell you page numbers, but I had to return the book to the library.
I do plan on buying the book sometime though, because it is great!

So many options! Where are you? You might find someone here who has a knit group you could drop into.

I taught myself with the Klutz Press book but there are so many youtube videos out there these days that those might make more sense.
