I don't know whether this will be any good to you as I've only seen the first volume of this (I think there are six so far) but if you can find this, it's probably your best bet for that kind of stuff. Not really sure on contents of any given issue, but you can probably find that info somewhere. 'Essay' probably means university, and that means university library, which means inter-library loan is an option too.
Another one to definitely read: Otaku - Japan's Database Animals, by Hiroki Azuma. Don't worry, it's translated very well. This is dense stuff but fascinating, and reads like a design doc for TVTropes; it also focuses significantly on Eva. A must-read for you, I think, given your focus. Certainly a favourite of mine - it changed how I see all media.

I own the shown in the 'Collection 0:X' format, consisting of 8 discs with 4-3 episodes a disc. I own the whole series for $20, $60 if you include End of Evangelion.

The quality, specifically on the first disc, isn't the best, and the first episode has major frame shaking, but as they go on they get better, and it's the cheapest way to own the series.

Amazon, I think I paid two dollars for Resurrection (21 - 23) and three for Genesis Reborn (24-26) I bought two of each just to keep one wrapped they were so cheap.

If you hit up Google you can see exactly what scenes were added and changed in the cuts. It's not a whole lot, but it makes it interesting.
The Water Sign by C.S. Samulski comes from a former Evangelion fanfic author. You might enjoy it, though the main similarity is the child soldier angle.

There's two versions of the Eva-05 kit:
The one u/ThatDotHackGuy has is the original, with Death & Rebirth branding. It doesn't have the rubberised arms and has two heads, one looking up and one looking straight ahead.

The other one is the End of Evangelion version. It has rubberised arms and a rubberised head that you assemble yourself. Its weapon is the replica Lance of Longinus, which is bigger than the one that comes with Eva-00 and Eva-02, instead of the double-bladed sword. This kit is rarer and more expensive.

It's legit. They pop around sometimes on eBay. Apparently D&R in this set gets an extra disc with commentary and an interactive feature.

tl;dr, the two Evangelion films were released as bundles (AFAIK) in the US, UK, JAPAN and AUS . This is the UK set. They were also released individually as well.
