I have recently been getting into collecting vinyl albums and have been looking around for Outrun style albums as well since I love both the music and the album art. What I've managed to find is;

Kavinsky - Outrun and Nightcall on Amazon

You can find Gost and Pertubator on Blood Music's website

Magic Sword (if you consider that OutRun type music) is on their own website

Those are the only ones I have personally purchased.

As for everything else the BEST site to search and purchase Outrun releases is not Soundcloud but Discogs.com as it lists if they've released Vinyl pressings and makes purchasing them super easy if they're for sale (way better experience than eBay for example). Additionally there's Amazon and the artists Label I always check first.

Many of the compilations like Magnatron are for sale on various websites but with crazy high price tags.

Amazon also has all Daft Punk's stuff including the more OutRun style Tron Soundtrack (albeit pricey)

Miami Nights 1984 is 'looking into' physical releases of his stuff

John Carpenter's Lost Themes I and II are easy to find on Amazon

Carpenter Brut released Trilogy a while back but copies are still fairly expensive

The Hotline Miami 2 Soundtrack had a limited pressing as well

GUNSHIP is taking preorders for a pressing of their self-titled album

Power Glove's EP's are fairly cheap and easy to locate but
Power Glove's Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Soundtrack is easy to find but very pricey.

College has a few LPs and EPs for sale as well

I also wish Dance with the Dead would get a physical release asap.

These are what I have / am looking to purchase in the very near future. There's many others with LPs and EPs pressed to vinyl, some easy to find, some not so easy. Also I know some of those I listed may not be 'Outrun' but they fall into the category of something I imagine someone who enjoys Outrun music would likely enjoy.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

What is *Deliverance***?*

It's an action novel drawing inspiration from car-chase movies, racing games and the sheer cool of rally Group B, plus of course the sounds of Outrun music.

Here's the blurb:

>A crew of two, Deliverance is a
different* sort of courier. Anything, anywhere in Japan, for anyone, at top speed. They’ll outrun the cops, they’ll outwit mobsters, they can face whatever the road throws at them. Just follow the rules and pay up front.
>
>But resourceful outsider Neil Goodwood, Deliverance’s navigator and loadmaster, is in trouble. His old friend and business partner Masa, the driver, is dead—run down, car stolen. Maybe he’s next. So he recruits young, gifted sports car mechanic and rally driver Suzu Hama. It’s the opportunity she’s been looking for, but she’s new to all this and needs to learn the ropes fast.
>
>Because Deliverance has become a target.
>
>And in the shadows behind the peaceful, advanced society of modern Japan, the Yakuza are feuding. Those who control everything in the underworld of Japan are about to go to war on their own kind, and no-one is safe.
>
>As they crisscross Japan at high speed, Suzu and Neil need to stay ahead of the pursuit. Somehow, they must find out whose sights they are in, and why.
>
>> “I would probably binge read the whole book if I had more time…very fun and exciting…a blast to read”
>>
>>– Quentin Smith
>
>Inspired by outrun culture and the synthwave/retro-electro scene, Deliverance is a fresh, turbo-charged, gleefully retro-styled new action novel from author Josh Quillan.

The first 41 and a half pages (why this much? Ask Amazon!) are available to preview in the 'look inside' section - just click the cover. That's the whole first chapter, featuring a Lancia Delta versus a gang of bikers on the expressways and streets of Tokyo.

You can find a soundtrack I've put together for the book here.

Enjoy!

Oh, and sorry about the high price of the paperback. That's about as cheap as I can make it. I get £0.09p per copy!

As far as music besides the ones you mentioned, I didn't see you mention Trevor Something and Perturbator. Check them out, pretty awesome stuff. Perturbator gets alittle dark sometimes, alittle ominous, but still awesome nonetheless.

For reading, I don't know if you'd really call it "outrun" fiction, but IMO "cyberpunk" is pretty close in style. So if you haven't read "Snow Crash", definitely check it out. The whole opening to the book where the protagonist is a pizza delivery guy in a bad ass car is AWESOME. Also, there's a bunch of other Outrun style stuff, like driving custom made vehicles through a virtual world where people spend a majority of their time. It's great.

EDIT: Here's a link to Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. I too have been trying to find Outrun fiction. I already am big into Cyberpunk fiction, but IMO cyberpunk is alittle more bleak and depressing at times. I'm hoping to find some good Outrun type stuff that still has the attitude and style, but less of the doom and gloom.

The Golden Ratio: The Divine Beauty of Mathematics by Gary Meisner

https://smile. amazon.com/Golden-Ratio-Divine-Beauty-Mathematics/dp/163106486X

I only had a digital copy, and in looking at the amazon page more in depth, it doesn't appear to actually be a textbook per se, although it has that feel and description even calls that in: "This book invites you to take a new look at this timeless topic, with a compilation of research and information worthy of a text book, accompanied by over 200 beautiful color illustrations that transform this into the ultimate coffee table book. "

Might be worth nothing where you're from. I'll just assume 'somewhere' in america.

Anyway, dont really know any foods/drinks that would go especially well with a retrowave party. Maybe dress up your new hires with edible candy, that really was an 80s craze. Like; [Ring pop] (https://www.amazon.com/ORIGINAL-RING-Assorted-flavors-Individually/dp/B003MONFIK?tag=bisafetynet-20&th=1) , Candy Bracelet , Candy Necklace

Seriously, this is the correct answer. Wayfarers are cool, but they don't say 80's cool like Carreras do.

Even Carrera themselves get it. You don't have to get legit ones from back in the day, as they have a bunch of new models which pay homage to the old ones.

Something like this is right there without being crazy expensive

From what I've found it looks like [this](http://www.CHERRY.com/ Compact QWERTY Mechnical USB Keyboard with Touchpad - 104 Keys, 16" Wide, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000B9J5QA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Cd7qDb21GKNB3) mixed with this.

u/teimu · 3 pointsr/outrun

It is this book: https://www.amazon.com/Nagel-Art-Patrick/dp/0912383119/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483922966&sr=8-1&keywords=nagel

The hardcover price is currently a steal. I'd pick this up even if you were mildly interested.

u/D0esANyoneREadTHese · 1 pointr/outrun

Dammit, it's too long for one side of a tape but only goes 16 minutes onto the other one. Those things aren't made anymore, and putting it on a modern reproduction wouldn't do it justice.

Here is one of the LED strips that I use. When you open up the packaging hold your breath as you get a nice smell of the factory the thing came out of, and it is depressing. leaving it over night to air out.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ASHQQKI/ref=twister_B07GKRQT3K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

The LED track I currently use for the frame

I purchased some good adhesive backed Velcro from Big Box store and cut everything to fit the bike frame for easy install and removal if a light strip goes out.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use this battery pack for the bike frames and the smaller ones they sell for the wheels.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are some basic extender clips off amazon for the LEDs that "work" to connect the frame parts together but short of soldering all the extender clips are hit and miss, so find what works for you.

For the wheels you can do one of three things for installing. 1

Buy lots of strong adhesive ( a glue gun doesn't work that well and can melt/boil the glue tape the strips come on) and physically fit a square into a round hole. Glue the strips to the wheel frame so the lights are facing to the center but at an angle of the wheel. While the strips are bendable they are only bendable going up and down not side to side so parts of the strip start to bow-out but those spots can be forced into place with enough adhesive. The strips will start to separate from the wheel frame because physics dictates this can't work. It is what I did first to both wheels. The front side didn't work out but the back wheel has been holding together for the past couple of months.

2

Buy some clear flexible tubing from local box mart and some zip ties. Keep the protective adhesive tape on the LED strip so it can still slide into the tubing and use the zip ties to attach the tubing to the spokes. It will look like shit but it gets the job done. Also cut zip ties are sharp so it kind of turns the wheel into a shitty chainsaw.

3 buy a 3D printer to make clips to hold the LEDs to the spokes.

As for the power supply I temporary have some Velcro holding them to the wheel spokes, that I am trying to fix.
