Asking $1250
The post:
Sold off my desktop last year because I needed a mobile workstation/gaming setup. I no longer need one. Truth be told, I never needed one, but considering I never move it...no reason to hold on to it.
Total cost of the entire package new (links included to amazon and NewEgg below): $2401 + Shipping charges from NewEgg - I use Amazon Prime, so if I order from there most of the time so I don't pay shipping, but this exact model isn't sold anywhere by NewEgg.
I figure cut the price in half, get a screaming laptop, and a bunch of fantastic peripherals. This is an AMAZING machine, top notch. Just time for me to part ways.
I am willing to accept trades for a desktop, but it must be in mint condition (as my equipment all is), and it must be comparably spec'd.
Laptop Specs: ($1499 new)
Additional Items in Package:
Monitor: AOC 29 inch Ultrawide Monitor ($300+ New)
This thing is amazingly huge. IPS Panel, great for graphic/photo work, tons of screen space.
Headset: Astro A50 Wireless 7.1 Surround Sound headset ($299 new)
Keyboard: Logitech G710+ w/cherry MX Brown switches ($130 New)
Mouse: Logitech G700 Wireless Mouse ($99 New)
Gaming Controller: Xbox 360 w/wireless dongle ($49 for controller new - 25 for dongle new)
I had a book published: "The Art of Being Bill". It's a super fun collection of art dedicated to the man and the myth...BILL MURRAY
you can get it on Amazon petty cheap. a great gift for the ghostbuster fan in your life!

As for the hiking my wife and I have been exploring hikies in this book http://www.amazon.com/100-Classic-Hikes-North-Carolina/dp/1594850542, and we have found some nice ones. if you go a few hours west, there are some great views, like hanging rock, chimney rock, and grandfather mountain among others. certainly some great biking trails around lake crabtree and umstead, also falls lake has some nice hiking and trails.
First of all - if Durham doesn't pay for the Durham County part, the project is dead. The plan says that Garner to RTP is not feasible and the project would have to go from Garner to Durham so that it can connect all the urban centers in the area. You don't think there is enough density in downtown Raleigh, downtown Durham to support the plan? Don't count out rail as well for driving dense developments near stations as well since it'll be a convenience to live near the stations. As for the airport, well they're using existing track and the closest it gets to the airport is Morrisville so there will be shuttles from there to the airport. We're talking about a low budget rail option here and a spur to the airport would be expensive (not to mention the airport has been resistant to expanded public transportation options due to parking revenues)
I think that some off-road aspect of a transit plan is necessary - yes, it is expensive but it is far less expensive than building a light rail option from scratch like Durham/Chapel Hill. If traffic is the driving point to build out our transit system, why force all the options to use the roads that are going to be congested even further in a few years? That just doesn't make sense to me.
The consultant who worked on the plan - Jarrett Walker - is one of the leaders when it comes to developing transit systems and has worked on transit plans around the world in different countries so I trust that they know what they're doing (http://jarrettwalker.com/places/). If you're interested in reading about transit, he wrote a good book about different theories, decisions and strategies that transit planners deal with: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1597269727/ref=rdr_ext_tmb
My old shop used to charge about 50 bucks for this.
This is an easy thing to do yourself.
A USB to Sata cable is like 15 bucks on Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Generic-SATA-5-25-Cable-Adapter/dp/B000YJBL78
All you'd have to do is take the harddrive out of it's current enclosure and connect it to the PC with that cable. Should work fine to recover data.
Sorry if that doesn't directly answer the question but it gives you another option at least.
I could help you out if needed shoot me a PM.
*Edit: If the USB to SATA cable doesn't work than the data is not going to be a standard recovery and local shops won't be able to help anyways.
Urban planning, especially roads, is one of my weird obsessions. It's one of the most fascinating things I've ever encountered.
I'm currently reading The Big Roads, a book about the history of the road system in the country. https://www.amazon.com/Big-Roads-Visionaries-Trailblazers-Superhighways/dp/0547907249

And after that, I move onto this: https://www.amazon.com/Grid-Average-Neighborhood-Systems-World/dp/1609611381

On The Grid actually uses Raleigh as the subject matter. I'm excited for it.
If anyone is interested in a generator, new in box. Let me know.

Buy a small air compressor like this one
https://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KMM-BT322-Player-Bluetooth-sirius/dp/B07CNWRC65
https://www.amazon.com/ACOUSTIK-CP-650-Bluetooth-Receiver-Touchscreen/dp/B0792R4D4N/
$169 gets you the cheapest CarPlay I can find. $252 gets you into JVC and Pioneer brands.
2000 model year is before they did retained accessory power, OnStar and other stuff, so your wiring harness is dead simple and cheap:
https://www.amazon.com/Metra-70-1858-Radio-Wiring-Harness/dp/B0002BEX8W/ - $6.48 (never cut the factory harness. Always wire the aftermarket radio's harness to a connector that works with the factory.)
and the dash kit to fit either into the space - $15.39
https://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-4644-Multi-Kit-Shelf-Black/dp/B0007WTFAM/
Add about an hour in the driveway (30 to wire, 30 to install, going slow) and this problem goes away. It's pretty easy. Total:
The other way to solve this is with a hard-wired FM transmitter, that plugs the FM signal between your antenna and the radio. https://www.amazon.com/iSimple-IS31-Antenna-Modulator-Aftermarket/dp/B002U5XPBE/ - $26.95 and the same 30 minutes in the driveway installing, and you'd have aux-in back. They do make a bluetooth version of this, but some people say the bluetooth one doesn't sound very good, and adds pairing issues.
I've installed CarPlay about 10 times (I keep putting different ones in my car, I've had Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer primarily. A Pioneer with wireless CarPlay is going in next.) There's no magic to it, and it does make the experience a lot better, for me.
Any place that would allow me to steal power to clean my car?
I don't have access to a power outlet to be able to play with my new steamer and I'm having too much fun using it indoors, I just want to use it on my car.
I actually don't know if my apartment have gotten cleaner since getting this but it's fun as hell to use.
I use one of these little mesh bags. It ties up behind the rearview mirror almost completely out of sight (depending on your mirror size I guess). I have used it in several toll places in Virginia with no problems.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LP8F60/
I don't think you can transfer the device between cars like you can in other states. It is nice not having sticky velcro on my windshield and I am able to cleanly stash it away when I don't have a need for it.
This is another cheap option. You can get it at Walmart or petsmart and such. It gives them a place to scratch and a ball they can paw at.
Bergan Turbo Scratcher Cat Toy, Colors may vary https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000IYSAIW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ofHIAbWGGPQH1
Extendable ice scraper, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0016GRTVU/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1484070791&sr=1-4&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A4718393011&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&dpPl=1&dpID=31RvFRZrSiL&ref=plSrch
I've got a freestanding 4-bike storage unit that I no longer need. Exact same as the model below. Asking $50, located in N. Raleigh.
https://www.amazon.com/Racor-PLB-4R-Gravity-Freestanding-Stand/dp/B000PGXLDC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495460128&sr=8-1&keywords=racor+4+bike+stand
I have this scale but this cheaper one isn't necessarily any less accurate (but it might be). These scales use electronics to estimate your body fat percentage which may be inaccurate. There are more accurate ways that proper facilities use that involve dunking your whole body in water, but I've seen youtube videos where professionals have doubts about those readings too.
In other words, don't get hung up on the exact number, just measure first thing in the morning after you pee/poo but before you have anything to eat/drink to make the measurement as reliable as possible, and then try to watch it go down over time.
I have one of these scales and my mother-in-law has a different one. When both scales say I have about 19% I'll say i've hit the goal.
OH well hell. Should have said that. I'd take exactly what the repair "ask" is and address. If they are looking for just the bounce to be removed from the floor i'd be putting jacks under the beams that are meant for permanent install. Bolt it to a pier and GTFO. https://www.amazon.com/Akron-Products-C-3-Adjustable-Floor/dp/B001737QCO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495596210&sr=8-3&keywords=jack+post
>Are you suggesting that parents buy an additional, less expensive stroller that they wouldn’t mind having stolen just so as not to inconvenience others?
Um, yes? That’s exactly what I did. You can get a used stroller dirt cheep. Think I paid $30 for ours. Of course you’d still mind it, but its less worrisome than losing a $400 stroller.
> What about all the stuff that is likely being stored in the stroller, like the diaper bag and the stuff that they’ve bought that night, just set that shit aside and let someone walk off with it because who needs it, right?
Backpack, my dude. I have a baby bag that’s a backpack and it’s honestly like, my favorite bag. So many cool compartments and hooks and stuff. Easy access for wipes. I think it’s this one. Highly recommend.
> Carry the kid for the rest of the night after someone steals the stroller?
I mean, that would suck, yeah... but it would suck less than having my $400 stroller stolen and still having to carry my kid everywhere.
We put nail caps on our cat. They come off every so often but then we just put new ones back on. I don't agree with declawing but I know that some cats can be little terrors.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ET88QK?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Edit: nevermind, I see that you already said that the cat goes outdoors and you don't want her to lose any ability with her claws.
Has anyone here tried a bug zapper? I've been eyeballing this one.
Since it uses a mosquito attractant, it should avoid the usual problem with these things: not actually killing the bugs you want it to kill.
The mosquitos are just terrible in my backyard, but I don't want to use these chemical-based services. The services that work at all use a combination of garlic spray and hardcore chemicals (garlic alone does not do the job for long). There's no way I'm exposing my family and my dog to that (we once got a "pet safe" lawn treatment that made my dog sick for a week, not going through that again).
