We had the same problems with Zeta when she was younger, and she can still get stubborn and pull when she doesn't want to go back. The way I normally combat her impulses is to distract her with either treats, or start pointing out phantom squirrels or deer. I elevate my voice and get her excited by saying "Look over there," and point back home. (Yes, I might look crazy to passers by, but at least it motivates her to move with me.)

Going different ways is a great way to break the routine and trick them into going back home without them noticing.

If your husky pulls, then you should do sit-stays with them until they stop pulling. Also, you might want to consider a training collar for them. We use this one: http://www.amazon.com/StarMark-Training-Collar-Large-Blue/dp/B000A6BD5K and it works great. It's not meant to choke or hurt them, just a gentle pinch that gets their attention.

I hope that helps!

We got a WalkyDog and it works great:

Keeps the center of gravity low so that they can't affect the bike travel as easily. It's just long enough to keep them away from moving bits but has enough play for some side to side.

Our huskies love them. Half the time I can just sit back and they will do most of the work :) Once they get into a run the are fairly oblivious to anything not directly in front of them. Had a rabbit jump out to the side once and I started prepping for trouble but we just ran right past.

a Kong or an activity ball filled with treats to keep him busy so he doesn't notice you leave, just try giving it to him and then just go outside and wait, see if he starts howling, otherwise you can try pheromone sprays, it's these sprays that have the same pheromones that their mothers have and it makes puppies feel safer and more comfortable.

I would recommend the Easy walk or Gentle leader harnesses for the pulling if it becomes a problem. Some huskies just don't seem to want to take to the "heel" command. Outside of that, I personally haven't found a need for any special collars for my husky.

At least in my experience, praise and treats are enough to make grooming painless.

I got this particular toy at petsmart, it is their generic brand toy. From what I have heard about these toys, they do not last very long at all. So I am not sure if I would recommend getting one. So far I have found that "Plubber" toys hold up pretty well.

I've not tried this product but we recently bought a new vacuum because our old one was not equipped to deal with the insane amount of hair and it came with an upholstery tool that has felt strips on it to pick up pet hair. It works very well especially on the couch cushions.
Here's a link for the one I have:
