Congrats! I hope you like it! As for accessories...

Get the Hori Screen Protector. It's the best screen protector I've used, goes on so easy with no bubbles, I believe it's a favorite of many in this sub.

For a case, I use the Hori Face Cover because I don't like to have to keep up with the case while I'm playing, since I play in public a lot. It kinda turns your Vita into a 3DS-like clamshell. Flip it open to play, and then close it shut for protection. It keeps the Vita slim so you can still fit it in your pocket, but not worry about protection.

If youre looking for a grip, I don't have a suggestion because I haven't found one I like yet. I have had multiple Nyko Power Grips that have come defective out of the box, so I don't buy anything from them. However, it seems lots of people here love that grip so YMMV.

Finally, I'd definitely recommend getting Playstation Plus. You can get 3 months for $17.99 or a year for $49.99. Basically every month they give you at least 2 free games on the Vita, but this month we got 5! If you get it before the first Tuesday in December you can get all 5 of those games for free. The 5 from this month are: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Luftrausers, The Hungry Horde, Escape Plan, and SteamWorld Dig. If you own any other Sony consoles (PS4/PS3) there's even more incentive to get PS+ because you'll get free games on those systems as well. It's the same service that allows you to play online on the PS4 (but you don't need it to play online on the Vita). You can also get discounts on games through PS+. Keep in mind that once your subscription expires, you will not be able to play the free games, but any games you bought with the PS+ discount are yours forever. That said, if you were to renew PS+ later, you would get access to all the free games you had previously claimed. Through PS+ you also get access to a cloud to store your save files, so if you have a smaller memory card you can delete and re-download games as you want to play them. Even if you only have a Vita the service is more than worth it. I'd never have to buy a game again and it would give me plenty to play, and it's opened me up to genres I never knew I'd like.

If you do get PS+, or you prefer digital games, you may eventually need a bigger memory card. As of now the biggest available in North America is 32gb, but there is a 64gb available in Asia. No games or accessories for the Vita are region locked, meaning you can play games/use memory cards from other countries. The memory cards are pretty overpriced and a 64gb runs from around $80-100. You definitely don't have to have it, but it is an option.

Anyways! That's about it. That was really long, oh well. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

So it turns on with the charger plugged in? Does it show any sign of power? Make sure you fiddle around with it when you're going to see it in person, check if it looks like its been tampered with.

If its not been tampered with and you don't mind spending the $40 that's a damn good deal.
Is it easy to fix? Yes if you're good with simple tools and careful and know how to follow instructions.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/PlayStation+Vita+Teardown/7872
8/10 is a good score. The higher ifixit gives a hardware product the easier it is to fix so yes.

As of this post 12/26/2014 this ps vita battery on amazon is $30.

Via iFixit
> The battery is secured to the back case with a pair of Phillips #00 screws and... well that's it. There's no adhesive!
> The Vita's battery runs at a standard 3.7 V and packs an impressive 2210 mAh punch.

From the looks of ifixit getting to the battery is a very simple and easy fix.

The Vita is a very good handheld device if you're a casual gamer. You can find some good games here and I'm sure you can find a lot of suggestions here as well

This one is extremely inexpensive but it works perfectly:

New Trigger Grips Black Compatible With PSVita Playstation Vita by Brainydeal
Link: http://amzn.com/B0081EH12M

I love it love it love it. Seriously, for $4 just buy it and you can't go wrong. My only complaint is that my Vita doesn't fit in the case with the grip, but that's true for any of them.

u/proxibomb · 1 pointr/vita

I got the Red Japan-exclusive PS Vita for pretty cheap off of eBay, but the only hurdle I had to get around was replacing the battery. If you don't know how to replace them, or are extremely nervous with doing it, I highly don't recommend getting an OG Vita unless you know someone who's willing to replace the battery for you.

Reason I'm mentioning the battery in the first place is because old Vita handhelds drain super fast, and have a lot of battery errors like going into sleep mode because it thinks it has no battery, when in reality it does.

You can buy a replacement battery for cheap off of Amazon, and it works like a charm once it's installed. Good luck, happy shopping~

u/Hikikomori_ · 2 pointsr/vita

I have the PDP Trigger Grips. Be warned, if you have a "full" screen protector (Static Cling or Water applied) it will scrunch it up unless you work really hard to either trim the water applied/static cling or some how mess with the Static Cling.

---

Some additional accessories that I find useful:

Of course, a travel case. Depending on your style pick a cloth or hard case. I personally like my official Sony Travel Pouch. It's soft and has lots of room for the Vita, headphones, extra games, and a cleaning cloth. Hard cases (Usually 3rd party) are pretty good depending which. I also have the DreamGear hard case as a more travel friendly when going to another person's house. My issue with it is that the case itself fits really snugly with the Vita where it can push on the Power button.

Official Vita Travel Pouch (9.33. Free shipping with Prime)

DreamGEAR 7 in 1 Starter Gear Hard Case (12.99 Free shipping with Prime or $25+)

---

You also want a back screen protector for the back touch panel alone. That thing is very prone to scratches.

---

Thumbstick grips are also very great for the extra grip you want. Sadly, the one I have is discontinued. So I can't really recommend a product I haven't used.

Bluecell Thumb Grips

You can certainly find others. Just read reviews. Be a smart consumer!

---

A great pair of headphones is a must if you travel a bit. I would wholeheartly recommend the official Sony Vita headphones. Great sound and cheap. Has a built in Mic but I'm not sure how good that is.

Official Sony Vita In Ear Canal headphones ($11.95)

---

A handy 2A-2.1A outlet USB charger with a spare USB Vita Cable is always nice to have around traveling.

Please Note: When purchasing additional back up battery packs or charging outlet thingies. Make sure it's 2A to 2.1A (2,000 mA to 21000 mA. not mAh**) output. The vita needs at least 1.5A output to be charged while playing or 1A while off (Very slow).

> 16GB memory card ($80 for a 32GB card is to rich for my blood!)

You can find them cheaper used. Amazon Warehouse was selling 32Gb cards for $45 shipped on Tuesday. I picked one up because my 8Gb card just wasn't cutting it. If you're playing mostly at home, a grip makes the system much more comfortable to hold. I recommend the Nyko Power Grip. Super comfortable, the Vita pops in and out a second, and it's got a battery built-in that'll keep your Vita charged twice as long.

Hori Screen Protector for the 2000 aka Slim Model

I use this and it works great, anything buy Hori in my opinion is a good quality buy, my 3DS systems use it, my psp uses one.

I use them all the time for my nintendo systmes and they work great and i have had my vita since september and had this screen protector and it works great.

I would recommend having a screen protector because you never know

u/alpacawitch · 2 pointsr/vita

Geez that's pretty rough, I'd definitely recommend using a screen protector. I have a few very tiny scratches that bother the hell out of me and they at least became less noticeable after I put on a screen protector. Here's the brand I used. I can personally vouch for its quality, but be sure you thoroughly clean your screen beforehand and be gentle as possible.

As far as actually getting rid of them goes, most methods are a bit risky if you don't know what you're doing. Apparently you can sand them out gently with the right grit sandpaper but I don't know enough about that to know if it'd be good to try at home.

u/MzTredecim · 2 pointsr/vita

I have both the Nyko Power Grip and the PDP Trigger Grip and I really like them both. I've found the Nyko is just a little more comfortable for me and I love the extra battery life but having the extended triggers on the PDP grip is useful at times. Either grip is definitely better than no grip. I'm a girl but 6ft and apparently my hands are just too large to play without them.

EDIT: The Nyko Power grip can be picked up in the wild for cheaper than that amazon link. I just put it up for reference. If you don't care about the extra battery life also check out the CTA Grip.

u/GunFishin · 2 pointsr/vita

I plan on getting the ASSIST GRIP as it looks like the best solution, but in the meantime I went with this super affordable grip from Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081EH12M/

I got it on sale for about $5 after shipping and it's worked really well. I'm able to hold the Vita much better now and it has a built in stand for watching media on flat surfaces. Only downside I've found is that the actual areas to grip still aren't quite long enough to simulate an actual controller. I think that's where the ASSIST GRIP would come into play.

Either way, I do recommend this one as an affordable alternative to the ASSIST GRIP.

u/suaav · 1 pointr/vita

Congrats! Vita is a great machine with a HUGE catalog.

I like this case and this card holder, which fits nicely inside.

u/DefiantHeart · 5 pointsr/vita

vita case

u/iBobaFett · 2 pointsr/vita

I really like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/HORI-PS-Vita-Hard-Black-Sony/dp/B006WJ70QK

I've had it for about 2 years now and it works well. It doesn't hold very many games, but I have a 64gb memory card, so most of my games are digital, so that isn't an issue for me personally.

I just wish I could find a case that would fit my Vita and Nyko Power Grip in it without having to take take it apart to fit it in. It feels weird to play my Vita without the grip now that I've used it for so long.

Edit:
Actually, looks like they've made a newer version that's currently cheaper (I bought the above one back when it was $13, but now it's $20). I'm not sure if it's much different, but it says it's compatible with both the 1000 and 2000 models.

http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Hard-Case-PlayStation-Vita-2000/dp/B00L6AVNB8

u/Jack_Hat · 1 pointr/vita

There are clear vita protective cases. i got a white assassins creed vita and didnt want to cover it up. So that's what I got.

http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Elite-Pack-Protective-Starter-PlayStation/dp/B00L6AVNE0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1411443763&sr=8-2&keywords=clear+vita+case

this is a good deal here. You get a screen protector *HORI is the best when it comes to them. You get the clear protective case and a carrying case (when traveling, putting your vita in your pocket is an easy way to crack your screen.

If you have one of these things already though, there are plenty of different brands of clear vita cases. You can't go wrong.

u/wishful_cynic · 2 pointsr/vita

I'm thinking of buying this PCH-1001 recert from Prime.

I want to access the Tower in Destiny from anywhere and I want Remote Play. I'm hesitant because I don't know whether online games play smoothly enough to enjoy. I just haven't done enough research yet.

EDIT: just bought it, excited for remote play :)

u/redialed · 1 pointr/vita

anytime. Ive not been a handheld gamer for long, but the vita was definitely one of my favorite gifts of all time (i also have a ps4 so do a lot of ps4 gaming on my vita)

nyko grips were one of the best add ons to my vita. Very hard to hold without grips, and very crampy. The nyko grips are so comfortable, worth the price even without the added battery life IMHO

http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Power-Grip-Vita-Sony-PS/dp/B0079V29EI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1416744841&sr=1-1&keywords=nyko+power+grips

u/massiveCan · 1 pointr/vita

Congrats on your new purchase, I got something similar to what /u/SupaBloo recommended:

u/taximan6430 · 12 pointsr/vita

I would recommend this one: ZTHY Sony Playstation PS Vita PCH-1001 PCH-1101 Battery Pack SP65M 2210mAH https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OTAZAPC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_Cs9gybMH4K4DS Just as good as the original battery. Good luck!

u/Rickrogue · 3 pointsr/vita

This is what I use on my Vita. under $5 shipped and work great. Nice solid fit with no wiggle, feel like a natural extension.

u/LogicalFlakes · 1 pointr/vita

What you want is a pouch or sleeve. I would recommend something like the old PSP sleeve/pouch that came with the PSP phat. At least material wise. As thin as possible isn't a good idea, you want some thickness to absorb the shock the Vita will get from jiggling and to not scratch the screens on either side. I tried using my old PSP pouch on my Vita 1k, but it was too wide. I believe the slim will be as well.

I suggest getting something where the material is soft on the inside and sturdy on the outside. Although if you're placing your vita where it wont get smushed or smashed by yourself or any outside force, then go for it. That's a good pouch. I've seen similar for $6 on amazon.

This one isn't that bad.

u/ghostshadow · 1 pointr/vita

There's a few different ones on Amazon that are pretty cheap.

  • Nyko - Holds 10
  • Bluecell - Holds 8
  • IDS - Holds 18
  • Hori - Holds 12 (hori is awesome)
  • BangGood - Holds 18

There are a few others but I think these are probably the better ones. Hope you find what you're looking for!
u/jjawss · 1 pointr/vita

very basic zip around but i ended up getting this for my slim: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F34B6JW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

there's only a couple of millimeters for it to move around and my vita is in perfect condition. it's perfect and allows me to just toss it in my bag without being too bulky. nowhere to keep extra physical games, though, but most of mine are digital.

u/Element0f0ne · 1 pointr/vita

I picked up these from Gamestop when I bought the Vita: http://www.amazon.com/Vita-2000-Trigger-Grip-Sony-PSP/dp/B00JYE8L9K

It's actually a really nice product so far. It's soft to the touch, but thick and rigid enough to hold the Vita tightly. The triggers aren't as smooth as I'd like (due to just pressing down the existing L/R buttons), but nothing game breaking so far. It's easy to attach and remove. I would recommend it for someone looking for grips.

u/Rustyhole · 1 pointr/vita

I used to use the pdp grip but now I use these.
It feels more comfortable in my hands but it sets weird on the ground.

For a game like SS I highly recommend picking up some stick covers, the concave covers really make a difference.

u/NegativeGhostrider · 2 pointsr/vita

No my mod just allows the thumbsticks tops to snap on and off.

I bought these Bluecell thumbstick covers.

I cut the thumbsticks off the Xbox One's that I got off Ebay for like $1.

I dremeled underneath the XBO thumbstick a bit to make a "bowl" shape so the Bluecell can fit nicely in there. I epoxied the Bluecell top under the XBO one and now I have a nice pair of thumbsticks that I can pull on and off at will.

u/CasperJ82 · 2 pointsr/vita

not a fan of the triggers grips myself, as soon as i bought the nyko power grip my trigger grip got shelved and never used again.

if you're interested you can get the nykko grip from amazon for about £25 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nyko-Power-Grip-Vita-PlayStation/dp/B0079V29EI/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1421082958&sr=8-8&keywords=ps+vita+trigger+grip

super comfortable and extends the battery life.

u/rebelterp · 1 pointr/vita

Here is the one I own.

http://www.amazon.com/Vita-2000-Trigger-Grip-Sony-PSP/dp/B00JYE8L9K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1419650935&sr=8-5&keywords=psvita+grips

Its pretty comfortable but I might start looking for something with a larger grip. Definitely better than not using it

u/rydavim · 2 pointsr/vita

I actually prefer the Vita sticks over the Switch ones, but I have fairly small hands. Any handheld's sticks are obviously going to be smaller and feel different as compared to a regular controller, though.

If you're planning on playing for extended periods of time, I would also recommend investing in some stick covers. I got a set of these, but YMMV -- plus they are more than twice as expensive as compared to when I bought them. There's tons of decently reviewed stuff out there, though.

Enjoy!

u/corzaftw · 5 pointsr/vita

Nyko Power Grip.

I carry them, sometimes, in the store I work at. We sell out the second anyone gets to feel them. I absolutely love mine, they make it feel like you're holding a dual-shock and not just a little portable system. They are a bit big for packages, but they do include an astounding battery pack (extra ~6 hours of life during gameplay). In short, I didn't charge my vita for over a month (didn't use it) and it still has 20% battery life.

The PDP Grips are good, but not nearly as comfortable as the Nyko grips. I've used both, and sold both, never seen the Nyko's come back, people return/trade in PDP all the time.

http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Power-Grip-Vita-Sony-PS/dp/B0079V29EI

u/Shentok · 1 pointr/vita

I use this (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F34B6JW/) and I love it. I don't know if there's anything that folds back like you are asking, it seems like it would be cumbersome for holding while playing.

u/NoTalentss · 2 pointsr/vita

If your main use is streaming, here's some options:

If you have a TV at your bed and don't want to hog up the family TV, look into a [PSTV] (https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-TV/dp/B00KVMHSUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495405446&sr=8-1&keywords=pstv). Or, if you prefer portable and own a decent gaming PC, look into the NVIDIA SHIELD Portable. However, if none of these alternatives fit you, the PSVita with a cheap mem card and a remote play grip is your best bet.

u/Z03L · 2 pointsr/vita

I recently got this generic vita grip it's like the nyko one but doesn't have a battery pack. It's pretty nice grip for a very cheap price.

u/ZoopZeZoop · 1 pointr/vita

I have the Butterfox case and really like it. However, I use the Nyko Power Grips, which won't allow me to close the case. So, I bought the Amazon Basics Case, which works perfectly for my needs. Because the Amazon case is not made for the Vita, you will need to carry game-protecting case (e.g., this one) if you want to carry multiple cartridges with you.

u/spang1025 · 2 pointsr/vita

Yes. I would recommend http://www.amazon.com/Trigger-Grips-Compatible-PSVita-Playstation-Vita/dp/B0081EH12M/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1418761089&sr=8-5&keywords=PS+Vita+Trigger+Grip

Much more comfortable than without and they allow access to the shoulder buttons. I also have the PDP and I couldn't stand the triggers. For $4 you really can't go wrong.

u/FlyingNeonPoop · 2 pointsr/vita

I got this Hori bundle for my Vita a while back, and I love it so far: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00L6AVNE0/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1453765743&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=ps+vita+hori+case&dpPl=1&dpID=51PqIB4QuoL&ref=plSrch

But holy cow, it did NOT cost this much when I bought it. I think it was in the $20 range when I bought it. I can't attest for any other cases, but I really like the hard pouch this bundle came with.

You can purchase it by itself here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00F34B6JW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1453765792&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=ps+vita+hori+case&dpPl=1&dpID=51VDNXHbqhL&ref=plSrch

I don't know if it will fit in your pocket, but the case itself only fits the vita, so I thought it wasn't bulky.

u/threeblackchairs · 1 pointr/vita

I don't. Even with my DS I keep my games at home with 1-2 on me if I take it out. I never saw the point in carrying more than 4 games (or your enjoy collection of games) with you each time you leave. My Vita largely has all the games I really really love to play already downloaded onto it (or at least a game that will scratch an itch).

I do have this case and it has 3 games in it and my 4GB memory card (that is wasting away...)

I picked this up off amazon just before Xmas. The memory card slot are actually removable inserts so you can take them out for a total storage space of ten games.

I really like it. It shuts down tight so you don't have to worry about it coming undone even with a bit of rough handling and its pretty streamline.

This is a fairly high quality clear protective shell and comes with a carrying case as well. I haven't seen any individual protective shells being sold by Hori in America, but they have two different clear protective shell styles being sold in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong as far as I know, if you're willing to import.

I have these stick extenders. They snap right on with a click. They won't accidentally come off and they're not so big that they block any buttons. It may take some getting used to because they are higher up, so your fingers may need to adjust slightly to hit the down DPAD and X buttons, but you'll find the sticks far more comfortable than normal.

If your problem with the vita sticks are that they don't feel like they have enough range to aim, then these are exactly what you want.

I use these in combination with the Nyko Power Grip, which also feels great. Though I'm thinking about buying the trigger grips for the Vita so I could compare the two.

u/Crunchewy · 2 pointsr/vita

If you order from Amazon Japan, it'll arrive in less than a week, and is currently about $180 WITH shipping. Ordering from Amazon Japan is about as easy as the US Amazon once you change the language to English using the globe towards the top right.

u/Fluffy_Waffles · 2 pointsr/vita

IMO any case that is going to be used to protect the vita from drops and such is going to be a bit thicker than a case made to prevent scratches. If you want just a hard case I would check out this amazon case. What I would suggest doing tho is getting a carrying case like this and buying a rubber cover or a nice personalized skin. And of corse always use a screen protector.

u/RoombaRaces · 6 pointsr/vita

I had a similar experience recently when I picked mine up earlier this month. I had decided to try grabbing a bundle at Gamesetop, but all they had were "Gamestop Refurb/Recharged" units. I wasn't sure if those went through the same QA process at Sony, so I left without. A nearby Target had nothing at all.

I ended up ordering a refurb unit through Amazon along with some of the basics like a 64GB memory card and a screen protector.

But if I had to take a stab at the question of "Why?" I think I'd venture a guess that most of these physical stores don't move very many Vitas in a given month, if at all. As a result, I'm sure they'll stock maybe one or two at a time and reorder when that unit gets nabbed or at the start of the next month, who knows?

If you are considering ordering online, I can vouch for the factory refurbished unit listed here. Not a single defect to be found since these are all inspected by hand before going back out.

[Get this one.] (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B006PP404Q/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=485327511&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B006VE40JQ&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_r=08Z50RB1190BV5JKV8HD)

It's the official screen protector and comes with two of them incase you mess up on the application, although it's really easy to put on anyway.
It keeps the scratches off nicely and doesn't degrade the screen or brightness in anyway.

Both the PDP Trigger Grip and the cheap $3 grip I bought from Amazon (without triggers, just larger grips) fit in the official dock.

ADDED: This is the grip I bought from Amazon without triggers: http://www.amazon.com/PSVita-Playstation-Vita-Trigger-Grips-Black/dp/B0081EH12M/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1397143228&sr=8-5&keywords=vita+grip

I really like it.

Here's a 16 GB card that's currently $34 on Amazon. The only card formats there are for the vita are 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64. If you want to go above 16, 32 will be pretty pricey. If it's no inconvenience, you may want to wait a bit as you could probably find a better deal somewhere else, or a nice deal with Christmas sales.

u/Noughiphiet · 2 pointsr/vita

I found that the Vita cradle that sony put out to be rather useful. It allows you to stand it up and still charge it. It has a female audio jack out if say you wanted some louder speakers to plug in and maybe use it on your nightstand as a small little netflix screen for bedtime.

I got lucky and found mine on clearance at toys'r'us for $2.50. Amazon sells them for a little more.

I've been using this but it's been sold out apparently since I purchased it. The 3-4 ring grip is extremely helpful with gripping.

The ones you linked, I can't even tell what shape they are unless it's a smooth grip since the picture quality isn't great. If you do have them please take pictures.

Besides, trading a cradle for Declassified isn't exactly a great trade considering Amazon sells it for $11.70.

Thanks.

Looking it up I found an article saying: "Perhaps the biggest difference in tech between the two is that the new PS Vita Slim has a 5-inch IPS LCD display rather than the PS Vita's 5-inch OLED panel. They both have a 960 x 544 pixel resolution, but initial reports of the display on the Slim model - based on its Japanese debut - are that colours are not as vivid and, because of the presence of a backlight, blacks aren't as deep."

Does this mean I should just get an original and a memory card?

Is this the original model? https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-Wifi/dp/B003O6EATE/ref=pd_sim_147_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=F08Y36F4F7GTBRM551K0

I have the Sony brand charging dock for the Vita. It works pretty well and has an audio jack on the back since it covers up the one on the Vita while docked.

Edit: Also, the dock you posted is for the slim Vita.

u/crazyg0od33 · 2 pointsr/vita

its like a portable battery built into the grip. You charge the grip, the grip supplies power to the vita. Doubles battery life. HERE

u/Dark_Kaiser · 2 pointsr/vita

I've got the slim and picked the CTA grip up on Amazon last monthActually these, which you can charge while plugged in, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GZG8CV2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It fits in their great. I've never actually used a Vita without a grip(bought the grip before I even got it) so I can't give a comparison.

All I can say is I wouldn't play my vita without it. The only drawback is the fact you have to remove it to put new games in(I buy physical if I can)

I passed up the battery grip because I only play it at home, and there are lots of conflicting reports on the battery itself, so just went with CTA.

This is probably your best bet man. I don't know how good Sony refurbs are though. It sucks but 1000s were discontinued in like January and finding a new in box one for less than like $270 is going to be really hard.

u/Shiiino · 2 pointsr/vita

Just a heads up with buying refurbished vitas:

I've purchased three refurbished vitas- one for myself and two as gifts from Amazon.

Vita #1 came with a 32 GB Memory Card + Burnout Paradise inside of it.

Vita #2 came with a 4 GB Memory Card

Vita #3 also came with a 4 GB Memory Card, and it also came with a custom L and R trigger grip, which I highly recommend if you have larger hands. https://www.amazon.com/Vita-2000-Trigger-Grip-Sony-PSP/dp/B00JYE8L9K

If you're patient, you can get the vita sans any memory cards / accessories and see if it comes with anything neat. On every order I told the seller that it came with extra stuff, but they never cared and told me to keep it.

u/arcticfox00 · 3 pointsr/vita

I'm using a similar combination to these two products. I get the silicone skin to make the Vita more comfortable and have a little bump resistance. The case is simple and is usable with the skin on the device. Since the case has two zippers you can make it so your Vita can be plugged in while inside the case if you wanted.

u/ZebraMuffin · 1 pointr/vita

I checked Amazon and noticed they do have these refurbished systems, which are sold by Amazon directly.

I don't know what kind of warranty, if any these have though. A question asked farther down the page does say the refurbished models do not come with a memory card like new models do.

There's the Nyko Power Grip which has an external battery to "double" the Vita's battery life.

There is also the PDP Trigger Grip which uses triggers to push your Vita's shoulder buttons.

There are also a variety of plain grips which don't really add any functionality other than the grip.

As for case that can fit a Vita with a grip, I've heard of people using iPad Mini cases, such as this. Also this case on Amazon has been recommended. Here is a picture: click.

u/geauxwave · 2 pointsr/vita

As far as I know, that is the only grip worth getting. They do have them in stock, just with different color L/R2 Buttons. Scroll down on that page to "Recommendations", and you'll see one. I saw blue buttons, silver, and gold. They're $54 plus shipping, which is the going rate.

I have been using a Vita hard pouch for my 2000. I recomended to another fellow on here a while back and he's enjoying it as well. You can find it in numerous colors on some sites like Nippon Yassan. The case is protective and light. The inside is a soft material to protect it. No bells and whistles but does the job.

u/forthisisme · 1 pointr/vita

So my few suggestions:

-Case: Depending on your needs (travel, storage, etc.) you might want to invest in a case to hold your VITA. I have a case like this I use for my day to day. I also have a hard case I use for long distance travelling.

-Grip: Depending on your hands and what you're playing, the VITA can get uncomfortable after extended play. You can order these grips or other longer handle grips.

That's it from me. Maybe others will have other suggestions.

I haven't really seen a card case without slots for a memory cards but, those slots are so small that they dont take up much space, what I have and recommend is this:

It's the official card case from sony and you can probably find one cheap on ebay. (I found mine for around $4) Another crazy idea if your dead set on having no memory card slots is to buy singles:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/4pcs-lot-Black-Game-Cards-Storage-Case-Bag-for-Sony-PS-Vita/32247420812.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.194.ETLmB5&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_1,searchweb201644_3_79_78_77_82_80_62_81,searchweb201560_4

No issue with vita memory card I believe the Sony cards have an issue degrading over time which is most likely the issue. Don't think the battery would make a difference.
