> some think high bitrate (800mb+) is important, others think Router CPU is more important, some think that any 5ghz router is fine, others specify 5ghz AC
I have a TP-LINK Archer D9 AC1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit router here, that can host (and is hosting) a dedicated 5GHz ac network, connected to a Gigabit Ethernet port on the Riftcat host computer, via it's own Gigabit Ethernet port, using high-speed Ethernet cable, with transmit power locked to maximum. It's quite far from the most expensive, most powerful, most feature rich option, but it's decent and still sounds pretty fancy right?
Yeah, well, consider the fact that I can achieve identical Riftcat performance by using a USD14.50 D-Link DWA-160 wireless USB dongle in Windows 10's hosted network mode as long as I am in the same room, which I usually always am.
Fancy schmancy.
I really like my D9 for a whole lot of reasons that have nothing to do with Riftcat, which is lucky because buying it solely for use with Riftcat would have made little sense.
The really important things: get on an uncrowded 5GHz channel (n is enough) so the signal is clean, stay close so the signal is strong, and prioritize the Riftcat use case (a dedicated solution is ideal) so you're never sharing bandwidth/resources.
Here is the main website detailing how to build an EDTracker. You should make sure to read through this website in addition to reading my comment.
You have a few decisions to make:
*****
Here's what I did for my build:
*****
After you build the EDTracker, it requires programming and calibration. I would follow the instructions from the website above, I don't have anything to add to those instructions.
In order to make the EDTracker software work with VRidge, you'll need OpenTrack to translate between the two pieces of software. Follow the instructions here to setup the EDTracker software and OpenTrack. You'll also need to set VRidge to take sensor data from the FreeTrack protocol.
There's one very important piece of information that doesn't appear anywhere. You want to start OpenTrack immediately after the orientation has been reset in the EDTracker software. That way OpenTrack will have the same understanding of the neutral position as the EDTracker software. If this isn't done correctly, you get really strange side effects when moving around. If you then want to map a keyboard button to reset the orientation, this should be done in the EDTracker software and not the OpenTrack software.
Hopefully you find this helpful!
thanks. I hope riftcat would add the gear vr sensors that would be awesome would definitely help with head turning =). I notice a bit of a difference when im head truning on the gear vr vs using my phones sensors. But i think its probably not a priority for them atm
Im thinking of getting another hmd because the gear vr doesn't support usb tethering.
i see destek made a v2 pretty nice i saw a video with some one with this

thank you so much ..............aaaaaaaaam if you are intressted in wii u and it's games :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X48jQ_Nq84 and http://cemu.info/ if you want to emulate it you can use this
and if you want the best experience use this controller http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Telescopic-Controller-IP117/dp/B00MUG3JPU/ref=pd_sim_107_5?ie=UTF8&dpID=41lYRZGQlML&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=154JFNXHZ3ZRG671BN4W
and set you phone as a second monitor there some apps that do that and the emulator will recognize it as the gamepad touch screen ( use some cheap stylus ) yet again if you like wii u games mario maker and pikmin bayoneta 2 moster hunter zombi u are pretty ok
enjoy !
I'm shocked! lol That's fantastic.
If there really is no good way to run the wire, you can also try using a powerline adapter instead. A decent 500Mbps adapter set should be pretty decent, especially if the 2 plugs it's connected to are on the same breaker. It will be far superior to the wireless issues you experienced, but may not be able to get you the full 95Mbps. Rent one from a local best buy to see if fixes the issue (30 day no hassle money back guarantee!)
EDIT - Turns out even the gigabit powerline adapters are a decent price now too:

Thanks for this update! I didn't test it before, because I go back to home in one week. Do you think it will solve my latency problem? With cable ? With wifi? If I use with wifi, maybe I should buy a thing like this?(https://www.amazon.fr/gp/aw/d/B014Q1UKMG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?__mk_fr_FR=ÅMÅZÕÑ&qid=1502195386&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=cle+wifi+5ghz&dpPl=1&dpID=41aP2drrVgL&ref=plSrch).
Thanks for your help.
I didn't use a T2U AC600 but a Elekele wifi usb adapter which should be similar (but cheaper) https://www.amazon.com/USB-WiFi-Adapter-Wireless-10-6-10-13/dp/B07NWFHLLC/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_4_sspa?crid=X0KBU1AELDY6&keywords=elekele+wifi+adapter&qid=1556812945&s=gateway&sprefix=eleke%2Caps%2C220&sr=8-4-fkmrnull-spons&psc=1&smid=AYHH4CDQL0ON4

Well, if you lock the device only in "ac" mode (from Win10 device management) and create your own "wifi hotspot" it works good.
I've been able to tap up the following settings from riftcat:

I'm currently playing 1-2 meters from the streaming PC and using an Oculus GO as client. Everything seems to go fine, maybe just minimal audio latency.
Thanks for the info!
Are you considering a replacement or are you going to stick with the edtracker?
I'm actually thinking about just buying another used phone with a working gyroscope. I can get a used Note 4 for around $200 on craigslist ...
Or what about something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/TrackIr-5-Premium-Head-Tracking-Gaming/dp/B0029M6VKA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487658431&sr=8-3&keywords=edtracker
That is correct :).
For mounting the PSEyes I found that they fit quite nicely in these phone clamps so that they can be put onto any sort of tripod.

Works for me under windows 10. The software does not work, but you can host the ad-hoc with windows10 itself. You need a special driver tho, so it's kind of a hassle.
Using the 1029.0.217.2015 version driver from Realtek Semiconductor Corp. which you can install by simply rightclicking in device manager and find it under the listed devices. Guess that would've worked for the T2U aswell
When I looked into this. Due to limitations of the camera resolution, with 4 cameras your looking at a maximum play space of about 12 feet.
The problem with additional cameras is USB bandwidth. Something that a hub can not fix. Instead you'll need to buy a couple of the Inateck USB adapters the Occulus crowd recommend. And put 2 cameras on each controller.
The PSMove Service is single threaded. So the additional cameras won't impact your CPU utilisation. Though you may have to reduce the per camera FPS if you have weak cores. Though my own experience with using all these things is 8 cores only barely enough. And would recommend upgrading to a 16 core CPU if at all possible (I know it's not an option for me, because if I had the money for a 16 core CPU, I'd just go buy a Vive. The price is comparable).
One word of warning, with the USB adapter boards. Don't use Molex to Sata adapters, like the one supplied to power the thing... Those things are infamous within the tech support world for being the number one cause of PC related fires.... The SATA power splitters are fine, so use them if your short of plugs on your PSU

Im new to this stuff would this work?
Edit, I went ahead with this one I will test it and get back. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015Z8EWGY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Edit: Hosting mode (using their driver) just would not function correctly and the application process in windows 10 just closes when you switch to host. Troubleshooting and returning if needs be.
i was thinking about getting a refflector stand
link
something like that would work unless you're 7 ft tall or something
/u/chilly_dude , assuming you're not looking to purchase the Google Pixel or Pixel XL and the Daydream VR Viewer, what about waiting until the first week of October and then buying the $40 Mattel View-Master Viewer 2.0 / DLX / Deluxe (the correct Model Number is DTH61):
