Someone gave me the book 'The Knot Book of Wedding Lists' right after I got engaged and that thing became my wedding planning bible. I was clueless about what I should have been doing and when it should have been done. This book breaks everything down into checklists of what should be done 1 year before, 6 months before, 2 months before and on and on. It also has some great tips to help focus on the things that are important to you.

Here it is on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/The-Knot-Book-Wedding-Lists/dp/0307341933/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407991621&sr=8-1&keywords=The+knot+book+of+wedding+lists

If it helps, I think a 6 is standard. I have tiny hands though and my size turned out to be a 4.75.

Resizing is surprisingly cheap. My local grocery has a jewelry store in it (Kroger - Fred Meyer) and they charge about $50 for resizing. If you buy at a jewelry store instead of online, resizing should be free with the purchase.

Plus, you can always buy a cheap plastic ring guard so she can wear it immediately even if it's too big.

I was in a similar situation - ~150 guests but not a huge favor budget. What we did was we bought two packs of seed paper. (Paper you can plant to grow wildflowers). We also bought a flower shaped hole punch (10 bucks or so). We then put about 4 or 5 of those seed paper flowers into gift bags - not necessarily these ones, we got purple ones but along those lines. We then made little tags for them (also out of the seed paper).

It wasnt too expensive (whole thing cost around $50 or so) and i really liked the idea - I found it on the knot but wanted a cheaper way to do it.
