I use a Sony SBH20 with my Lumia 925 because I can use my own earphones with them instead of the stock ones and its clip rotates so you can wear it any way you like.

This one is a good option as it lets you give commands to Cortana from the handsfree itself. From Nokia, you can try Nokia BH-121 but that will not have a rotating clip which comes in handy.

Plantronics Backbeat Go 2 is also a very good option but I don't know what kind of audio you like. Heavy on base or more Mids?

You should also have a look at this BlueAnt handsfree. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009F4XM48/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=1B437RAY3FZBF4ZRZMKY&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1970567742&pf_rd_i=desktop

It has Bluetooth AptX support which is something Microsoft is going to provide in all compatible Lumia devices with Lumia Denim update. AptX gives very good quality.

Stay away from Jabra Street 2/Jabra Play. They have audio skip issue.
Stay away from Nokia BH-221. Its OLED dims away within 2 months and then nothing is visible on the screen.

It works great. When I get a text my music pauses and it asks me if I want the text read or ignore. I don't have to press the Bluetooth button or the phone. It's completely hands free. After it reads it to me it asks if I want to respond. If I say yes then it waits for my message then it shows me the message and asks if I want to retry or send. AFAIK WP is the only one that is completely hands free for this. iOS and Android require you to press the button. You never have to touch the phone or the Bluetooth button when someone texts you. If you want to send a text you just press and hold the button for a few seconds then voice control kicks in. You can say who to send it to and what the message is by voice alone. I love it.

Edit: This is what I have.

My outdated jabra bluetooth visor kit will read me incoming text messages, and I can initiate new text messages and phone calls with it. Not an app, but an excellent function for driving if you have an older car, and not a lot of cash.

And I'm hoping Cortana will be even more fun to use.

Had gotten these a year back http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B004M7SQNU and they are perfect for everyday use. Amazing value for money as far as the sound is concerned.

Yes. I do use screen protector for my Lumia 920 and a case. so far it's good.
This is my screen protector i bought on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/ArmorSuit-MilitaryShield-Protector-Lifetime-Replacements/dp/B009D53LQS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393794573&sr=8-1&keywords=920+screen+protector

Although it somewhat reduces the sensitivity of the screen.

I use this http://amzn.com/B004G1L52Q in my car for my 920. It works great, just make sure you have a spot to put it

I believe I have either this one, and I've been using it since WP7 without an issue pushing my music over Bluetooth. I wouldn't hold my breath for USB support on anything though.

I have a 1020, and I would recommend this one: http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/accessory/pd-95g/

There are universal ones like this but I haven't used any like that personally.

These?: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0084EUZ2C They're like $30 at AT&T but I can check them out at the store.

So I'm new to cameras and whatnot . . . I have a timewarner cable wireless modem router at home over which I have no control. I think it's Docsis 3.0. In any case I can't access any controls for it whatsoever - I have to call Timewarner to change anything on it. They don't allow users to just access the controls thru a browser like my old router.

Would I be able to plug an IP camera in and have it connect to my router wirelessly? Say, this cam: http://www.amazon.com/Foscam-FI8918W-Wireless-Network-Viewing/dp/B0046710G6

Would I need to have a computer on 24/7 to use the camera?

Idk about OP, but I broke off the headphones in my computer's jack. Since then, I haven't been able to get sound on my computer except through a [USB audio adapter] (http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UAUD-Adapter-C-Media-Chipset/dp/B001MSS6CS) or an HDMI cable. There is an app called airphones, but it has latency, so it's not very useful for stuff like youtube videos (which is all I would want the not so good sound for).

I also have a 2014 VW and the issue you've described has nothing to with the the phone, but is entirely the fault of VW. They neglected to support any of the Bluetooth profiles except A2DP, which is why it works so well when streaming.

I noticed this right away after purchasing the car and was really disappointed by how terrible the Bluetooth support is for the built-in receiver. For a moment I considered taking it back but my wife talked me down suggesting an after market receiver instead -- which I haven't purchased yet. In my previous vehicle, I had a $150 receiver and it was much better. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with this piece of crap.

MS seems to have tried to work around this by allowing us to call Cortana as a contact, but that doesn't always work for me either. I've noticed that I'll get an announcement for an incoming text message and it will drop off before completely reading the message or drop off before I can finish the reply. This might work better with Cyan though, I need to load it still.
