Hey /u/vipr9, /u/sabien, you should both read more books! They're great, and reading virtually anything makes you smarter, the same way that picking up heavy shit makes you stronger.

I've never been to /r/books, but it looks like a quality sub. I guarantee if you make a post saying "I stopped reading for fun in middle school, help me get back into it" and mention that you love the Witcher series, people would recommend stuff that will blow you away.

I haven't read the Witcher books, and I'm only about 20 hours into Witcher 3, but I think you both would love
The Name of The Wind. $6.27 on Amazon!

Everybody should read more books. Me, you, everybody.

Yeah. But I checked and the prices are shitty, even more expensive than just buying it from a legit source. Suppose you could wait for a better deal to show up, idk, I don't have much experience with G2A.

Why do you want to get your friend a digital code? Discs are so much better imo.

Anyway, XB1 games don't really get sales like PC games do. You're not going to see any significant drop in price anywhere. Honestly I'd recommend just getting it on Amazon or something.

I too would totally buy up a beautiful book set like you described. That's been my wish for a long time now. I'd buy that up, and display that with pride.

Here's the info on [Season of Storms on Amazon:](

Up close it looks pixelated but it's not meant to be viewed from a single meter away. For fourteen bucks it's a pretty good deal. I'm thinking of buying one of those cheap IKEA shelves to put right below the poster for all the Witcher books and the statue that arrives with the Collector's Edition.

Purchased from here: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PHDYCOU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yeah there are 3 different series they did. The art is fantastic, as are the stories. You can get the collection books where they put all the comics in a series into one book. I'd recommend getting them in physical form from Amazon. Here: Witcher Volume 1, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1616554746/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_cMLbAb16ZHCF1 Witcher Volume 2, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1616557931/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_eNLbAbH3ZAFP8 Witcher Volume 3, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1506701612/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4NLbAbGDJ125D

I'll post links so you can get an idea of what they're about. Apologies, I'm a bit tired, otherwise I would give you a rough synopsis myself

If you're looking for some good fantasy books I'd highly recommend the following:
1.) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - http://www.amazon.com/Name-Wind-Kingkiller-Chronicle/dp/0756404746

2.) Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence - http://www.amazon.com/Prince-Thorns-Broken-Empire-Lawrence/dp/1937007685

3.) Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson - http://www.amazon.com/Gardens-Moon-Malazan-Book-Fallen/dp/0765348780/ref=pd_sim_14_12?ie=UTF8&dpID=51pDraZRUIL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR99%2C160_&refRID=1H0ZZ7MYMYZGKGQMEKTW

This next one has some fantasy elements, however, it's hard to pigeonhole into an exact genre (low fantasy adventure?), nonetheless, it's one of the better books that I've read recently.

4.) The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastards) by Scott Lynch
http://www.amazon.com/Lies-Locke-Lamora-Gentleman-Bastards/dp/055358894X/ref=pd_sim_14_5?ie=UTF8&dpID=51tpIK8K%2BtL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR98%2C160_&refRID=1H0ZZ7MYMYZGKGQMEKTW

5.) The Way of Shadows: The Night Angel Trilogy: Book 1 by Brent Weeks -
http://www.amazon.com/Way-Shadows-Night-Angel-Trilogy/dp/0316033677/ref=pd_sim_14_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=51tPZPp5dsL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR93%2C160_&refRID=1WERAT21ARWMVZN12V2P

(All books mentioned are the 1st novel of a larger series. If you're already aware and/or read these already than disregard, trying to pass along some great books for anyone who might come across my post)

Here ya go, I'd expect more hard covers like this with show stuff on it but a nice collector's edition would be cool

u/jbourne0129 · 2 pointsr/witcher

My local gamestop sold the cards separate from the expansion. I picked up my set for $20.

Check your local game store, they may have it. Also, check amazon or ebay. It might be a little pricier but you can definitely find them for sale.

EDIT: since you said amazon only had it with the expansion: card set only

Here's The Witcher Library Edition Volume 1 on Amazon. I recommend going to a bookstore for the other books though, to be sure you can get them all matching. If you are into that anyways. If not, they have this set and you'll also have to get Season of Storms if you want them all.

u/pappepfeffer · 1 pointr/witcher

nice design, far better than the german generic covers: here

u/CrivilNite · 2 pointsr/witcher

Imo this fits perfectly TW3 theme.

u/Joe2596_ · 2 pointsr/witcher

Yes, ordered them from here on the 7th if you live in the UK. If you live somewhere else they might be different dimensions.

This includes the “Killing Monsters” story only previously released as game pre-order bonus.

> A few people have had questions about the book Season of Storms. It is a new Witcher book and was released in 2013 (14 years after the release of Lady of the Lake). It takes place in between the short stories of The Last Wish. It is currently only available in Polish, and the fan translation is not yet complete as far as I know.

Not true. It is available in German, for example.

u/jerfdr · 1 pointr/witcher

Actually Season of Storms is already officially translated (and for quite some time) into at least Russian, German, Spanish and Czech, so it's a bit of misinformation when you say that it's only available in Polish.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your efforts in creating and maintaining this guide!

Edit: now speaking of this, what do you think about maybe extending your guide to cover other languages apart from English? E.g. providing links to where it's possible to buy the books in at least some of the other major languages, such as German, Spanish and Russian?

u/Hydroel · 1 pointr/witcher

This link was posted on this sub a few days ago. Otherwise, it's currently on Steam at 30€.

PS: I'd be interested in your feedback!

u/karinasuperkul · 3 pointsr/witcher

If you don't mind paying for a DLC you already own, you can buy the physical DLCboxes witch comes with two decks each. Monsters/Scoia tael for Hearts of Stone, and Northern/Nilfgaard for Blood and Wine.

For those interested Sword of Destiny is currently on sale on Kindle

u/cvsickle · 5 pointsr/witcher

My wife bought them for me. Fake leather covers, but I really like them.

I was just browsing different Witcher items like the Geralt statues and came across it. But here is the link from where I bought it:

Witcher Wolf Wall Sculpture

u/hobo_clown · 1 pointr/witcher

According to Amazon the book only has 375 pages. I own the book on kindle and the word "complexion" does not appear once. No idea where OP is getting this.

u/MeBeSleepy · 2 pointsr/witcher

Here. I have the same set. Very good quality, although the font is really small, so keep that in mind if you have bad vision.

u/dolphins3 · 0 pointsr/witcher

Blood of Elves appears to be the only one on sale from what I can see.

u/pigs_are_people · 1 pointr/witcher

Try the amazon digital store

It's on for $49.99 USD right now.

u/FMWindbag · 2 pointsr/witcher

I got mine from Amazon UK. I'm not sure where you'd find one in other regions, though.

u/Balorat · -4 pointsr/witcher

you're missing Zeit des Sturms on that picture there.

u/grimsleeper4 · 1 pointr/witcher

I tried to read the first book but found it terribly-written - likely due to a bad translation - this was the most recently published version of the first book - it was just ... bad. Like really bad.

I know lots of genre literature can be iffy in terms of its production, but I found the first few pages unreadable.

This is what I'm talking about: https://www.amazon.com/Blood-Elves-Witcher-Book-1-ebook/dp/B00276HAEY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1538746895&sr=8-2&keywords=the+blood+of+elves

I find the writing on that first page absolutely terrible. You can't keep changing between past and present tense in the middle of sentences!!!! It also feels like the translator kept the sentence structures intact - which makes most of the sentences extremely awkward, so you get run-ons, or you get sentences that are backwards. These are basic translation errors - you can't just translate sentences, you've got rewrite them in the new language while keeping their cadences and style.
