Drop a 4mm ball bearing in the bottom of the bottle and shake again. I use these. You will have to shake it for some time which why some people get a paint shaker. This is normal with some paints.

>My wife and I have been painting a lot recently (Super Dungeon Explore, The Grimm Forest, Malifaux, and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar) so I can offer up some things/tips from our experience:

  • We've been using two kinds of paints, Citadel and Army Painter (We actually bought the Army Painter big box set). Of the two, I greatly prefer the Citadel paints, but they are more expensive. Also, when using the Army Painter, I highly recommend stainless steel mixing/agitating balls. These have made a WORLD of difference with those paints. Didn't really need them for the Citadel paints
  • Have a good variety of paint brushes. You seriously can never have too many.
  • Always use a primer or basecoat. I've tried about 4 different brands, and honestly, Citadel again is where it's at. I used 2 cans of Army Painter and got different results with both of them, so the quality was inconsistent. I've used 2 cans of Citadel and the quality has been straight across.
  • Definitely practice on your base work. A nice/unique base can add so much more to a miniature.
  • Look into creating/buying a wet palette. Made one for a few bucks with materials from the Dollar Store.
  • Inks/shades/washes are like a magic bullet and add a lot of depth/character to your miniature.
  • Paint in multiple, thin layers vs. one thick layer

    >Hope that helps!

Then you need a rack and some paint.

Here’s a youtube video. Its about 4:30 mins and I watched it once and dove in. Followed his method.

I prefer citadel over all. I use the citadel Colour app to help with the color choice and how to apply. I do use Vallejo when I need an air brush version of a color that Citadel doesn’t have or for priming.

I understand the stance you have on the pricing with citadel, but you can make that line of paint last longer.

Head to amazon and order these items
15ml dropper bottles
1ml needless syringe
flow aid
small stainless steel ball baring

By following the steps in this video on YouTube I was able to transfer all my base and layer paints to dropper bottles. Now I can limit how much paint I’m wasting to a minimum. Because like you said, they can be expensive

one per bottle, shake the hell out of it, never look back. All my paints have them in them now. I usually shake it for a good minute or two plus I use a wet pallet so that also helps.

Small amounts of distilled water or acrylic medium, and even smaller amounts of flow aid. Agitators like this would also go a long way to help. Either way though you're going to look like a serious masturbation addict when your shaking arm gets jacked.
