Most people will say IPS is better for

  • Colour accuracy
  • Viewing Angles
  • Faster Response time?

I use a monitor by sitting directly in front, so view angles shifting is a non issue.

I also don't really care about accuracy, I'm not producing professional colour graded work.

Response time, may lead to less blurring compared to VA, but I doubt I'd notice.

At the end of the day a nice VA with deep blacks is preferable to the IPS Pros and cons, glow etc.

Alienware AW3418DW is down to £849.99 today, if it was VA I'd have bought it, right now I'm on the fence as the MPG341CQR VA Freesync may be the better choice for me.

With a top end, hot, power hungry chip yes you should. The stock cooler won't really cut it. The suggested one is a cracking deal for a 280mm AIO.

The budget is definitely fine for the tower. It depends what monitor you would like. A 120Hz 1440p ultrawide like the X34 already costs £1100.

A compromise may be asking yourself to decide between an ultrawide and 144Hz.

I'm in the market for an UltraWide in the UK as well, and the prices here are just stupid compared to the US...The one I really want is Alienware AW3418DW but I'm waiting for a good sale on it as the "refreshed" version AW3420DW just dropped in the US and supposedly will be available in Europe 18.10.2019.At the moment AW3418DW in the US is $839 = £674But in the UK the same model costs £999 = $ 1242Amazon US Amazon UKThat is basically double the price for the same item, I know that there are differences with taxes etc but this is just ridiculous. And this trend can be spotted with different brands like ACER and ASUS.I'm holding off until I spot a great deal on either the AW3418DW or Predator X34P, and would recommend you to do the same. Hope this helps

Edit: Btw If you are looking at the Z35P, not so long ago (2-3 weeks) it was discounted on Box for ~£550, so everything you pay above that is overpaying.
