I've had no end of problems with the BT Hubs. They're all trash. I think I had to give my parents my old HH4 because their HH3 was causing problems with Netflix on Samsung TVs..
What you need is a modem compatible with BT, and then a WiFi Router.

I've had absolutely zero issues with WiFi since I begun using this, and get a solid 69Mbps down when using WiFi. I was only getting 38Mbps using the HomeHub and BT told me it was an issue with my home.
Regarding your DNS server, try and use Google's DNS servers. IIRC though, the HomeHub overwrites any local DNS settings on devices, and from what I recall, you can't actually change the defaults on the Home Hub..

I should mention, I have wired a 24-port gigabit network around my house, which is running on a gigabit switch (Netgear GS724T-400EUS), so I guess all the internal traffic (streaming from NAS to TV for instance) will bypass the router entirely?
