You can get plain containers on Amazon or any craft store. You could get a flat one like this or stackable ones like this . They are usually for crafting or makeup and are fairly inexpensive.

I use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Jewelry-Organizer-Storage-Container/dp/B00D2OCF54/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1466564545&sr=8-5&keywords=plastic+organizer

It's not the prettiest thing, but it sits in a drawer until I need something out of it. And it keeps everything from getting tangled.

I use them very sparingly but you have to be very careful. Too slack and they don’t hold anything well, too tight and they can cut into the components and damage them, especially cards.

They also become brittle quickly and will break after using them a couple of times. I’m sure this can be mitigated with more premium ones (magicians rubber bands come to mind) but this will cost more than 99c

I find it much better, to use the right size bag for decks of cards and store components in those clear plastic jewellery/tackle boxes which come in an array of different sizes and massively cut down setup time. (Opening 20 bags before a game isn’t fun).

If I have thick cardboard terrain tiles for example, I might use bands to hold them. Particularly if the game box gets jostled about a lot when transporting. Otherwise the mix of bags for cards and tackle box for chits does fine. I think I’m still using bands to hold together Caverna tiles but after two uses, they’ve started to break.
