OP, I found the factory suction mounts are made of fail and suck. I have a similar detector, but invested in a high quality mirror mount. Now it doesn't rattle on the glass, doesn't get in the way of a sun shade, is less visible, and it isn't cooking in the sun. Plus, when those suction cups get baked by UV, the detector doesn't fall on your dash while driving. I tried a bunch of different styles of mount, this is the only one that has never given me problems in the 10+ years of running radar detectors.
I also hid the wire in the headliner and a-pillar trim for a very clean installation.
