My PC is hooked up directly to the modem, and I'm getting 1 Gbps that way. I'm on the cheapest Comcast plan (10Mbps , paying $50/month) and my guests bitch at me all the time for my slow wi-fi (it honestly is pretty damn slow, but it usually is no bother since my PC is what I use regularly)

This is the modem that I have:

It says DL speed is at 343 Mbps. That means it would be pointless to get a plan with "DL speeds up to 400 Mbps" because I would be capped before I reach 400, is that correct? Here are the plans I'm looking at.

Using this, that concerns me a bit seeing as your router provides better coverage.

Originally 87.99$ yesterday they up the price to 95.99$ and then put it on sale for 67.99$ before tax.

I mean thanks for the sale but shiesty way of doing business.

Just got off the phone with spectrum. I am getting 300/20 for $85/month and $200 activation fee. I own my own modem, couldn't get around the activation fee. They are coming out tomorrow (sat 1/20/2017) to perform some kind of installation unrelated to the equipment I own.

I live in Beavercreek/Fairborn area about 5 min from the mall.

I was originally told only 100/10 was available for $100/month last night. Decided to call them up again after reading the comments here.

Edit: Spectrum guy came over not knowing why he was there. He said there was nothing that needed to be installed. Looked at my PC network settings etc and I was only getting ~70/5 which I got from upgrading to the 60/5 plan. Turns out, only about 3 modems are officially supported for the 300/20 plan. He installed a spectrum modem for me but told me I would not be charged a monthly fee for its use.

My Own Modem

Running speedtest.net keeps telling me I have ~109/23. I couldn't find any site, actually, that would tell me I had at least 300/20. Running the speed test on timewarnercable.com tells me I have 354/23. While this seems suspicious to me, I did try and download some games off of steam and was getting 44.4 MB/s downloads. This roughly equates to 355mbps so I am inclined to believe the timerwarnercable.com test.

I had this issue as soon as I got my Xbox One X Scorpio edition. We were both using an Arris Surfboard gateway router thing. Pretty sure it was this one. The issue would happen via wireless or wired. Either way, booting up the machine would almost always result in no internet connection to the Xbox.

This router was fine, worked great when we each had Day 1 Xbox Ones, but when we got the Xbox One X it started having issues for both of us. I went through all the support stuff I could, nothing fixed it.

Bought a new router, the ASUS AC3200 and it solved my problems. My friend still is using the old Arris Surfboard and he's still having this problem.

I switched my Arris Surfboard gateway into modem only mode and use this new router alongside that same old modem and it's running great.
