I was running it alright with my overclocked GTX 970m gaming laptop.

Can't remember the processor but I overclocked it up to 3.5GHz via Intel XTU.

For anyone with a gaming laptop - a [cooling pad](http://www.TeckNet.com/ 12"-17" Quiet Laptop Cooler Cooling Pad Stand With 3 USB Powered Fans, 1200 RPM, Light Weight & Ultra-Slim Design https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0164R64Y8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UKcxDbPXC7HJF) is a great investment buy probably the biggest difference in regards to overclocking or temp management is making sure to CLEAN YOUR FANS!

I honestly can't believe the difference this made to the temperature and wish I did it 2 years ago!

I have the exact same setup - been using on location edit. Mixed feeling - might go back to Mac very shortly. In the mean time - this thing has given me a load of extra time without lagging or overheating the system.

Just a cheap one off amazon which did the job.

EDIT: The fans on ther Aero pulls air from the bottom left and right side and vents out at the top (near the hinge), so i assume any cooler which blows air into the bottom will be sufficient

If it is below 80°C I would not worry.
Especially in a laptop they get quite hot.

The GTX 1070 GPUs thermal limit is at about 95°C-105°C.
But of course it is better to keep the card as cool as possible to maximize its potential lifetime.

You can maybe try a external cooling pad like this one if you want to improve temperatures: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Laptop-Cooling-Powered-Ultra-Slim/dp/B0164R64Y8/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_229_bs_lp_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WBPQ5P60RJ5VWZZKJ7D1

Man I know the struggle. I would suggest one of these:

I used to leave my machine on the thing all day. I would plug the fan into a seperate source so I could keep the fan on whilst the machine was off. That way when I arrived at the machine later on, it was already cooled and started cold. This dramatically increased performance on that laptop.
