Bought those from Amazon and they worked fine, though soldering was a bit of a pain

You could try scraping the burnt off a bit with a knife or something then put a small flat head screw driver in the slot of the pin to open it up a bit. Usually what happens is the pin isn't quite large enough to fill the hole and it arcs and creates the burn you are seeing. Bending the pin out solves that but you will have to scrape off the carbon from the pin.
I did some digging and this connector came up in a search from some forum where someone was listing out connectors for cr-10s.

What about aviation connectors? You can find bigger and smaller ones. They come in multiple pin counts too.
