Get yourself a dual binding post adaptor https://www.amazon.ca/Male-Dual-Binding-Posts-Adapter/dp/B000LFWQH4 and then a couple pieces of wire - the radiator should be about 25' - 29' long and the counterpoise (which just lays on the ground) about 13' long (it's probably better to use 2 pcs of that length, but just experiment with that). Add a piece of 2mm nylon string to the end of your radiator and tie that to a suitable size rock (large enough to lift your antenna when you toss that into a tree). I realize you don't want to use radials, but my solution is so effortless, that I've suggested it anyways. If you don't have a tree, there are lots of collapsible fibreglass poles available, that you either tie to something, or use guys and stake it somewhere, just to get the end of your radiator at least 20' above ground. I use this arrangement with my Elecraft KX3 with admirable results.

The far left looks like it's just a cap with a plastic buffer.

The one just to the right of that is a "cobra head", or a BNC-to-dual post adapter.

The humble BNC binding post adapter is great for whipping up small wire antennas.

A 2m wire dipole fits in the palm of my hand and is very pocketable. Just hang it up wherever is convenient and get to operating. Performance will be about on par with the j-pole, so it's not really "better" than what you're currently using, just a different approach. The plus side being that I can carry additional lengths of wire for whatever bands I need, just plug in the correct length and I'm off and running. Great for portable HF too. I most often use it as a portable 20M wire antenna that can fit in the same carry case as a KX3.
