I have a cat with a history of UTIs and bladder stones. She's peed on plenty of my stuff, including the couch and mattress. The one thing I've found that completely gets rid of the smell is Ceva Urine Away.
It's pricey, but I think it's absolutely worth it. You will have to soak the spot where he peed which will probably take a few days to dry. Put a fan on it to speed things up.

Urine away!!!!!!! This has enzyme removal. I have hard wood floors and it is a miracle!!! Tried everything!
