Get a set of computer speakers and plug them into the headphone jack. Turn the speakers up to about 1/2 to 3/4 power and adjust the volume with your TV. I don't now how much better these will sound vs the TV speakers but it's about as cheap as you're going to get. You would probably have been luck with a higher quality computer speaker like these Creative T10.

I am currently using my T10s and I really like them, especially for the price. For gaming and general music listening they are great. They are compact but can throw out some great sound. If you want to just read reviews then newegg and amazon have a lot of them. At your price range (which was similar to mine) those are some of the best for 2.0 and what Nyclatus posted would be among the best for 2.1

As far as I can tell, these are the speakers. I was thinking about getting them.

OP, how do the speakers sound?

Wow thanks for the gold!

Clevo laptops are less expensive because they don't spend any(?) money on marketing, that's up their resellers. They manufacture blank (mostly?) brandless units that resellers customize.

Do you mean like an external keyboard? You may want to consider one for your extended programming periods. Maybe a Razer BlackWidow (Amazon Customer Reviews (371) 4.3 out of 5 stars). Or an economic or whatever you already have/prefer.

Since this is going to be your desktop, you may want to consider a stand like this. Better to look straighter ahead rather than down at a laptop for extended periods. And since the Clevo speakers are usually lacking, maybe a pair of these (Amazon customer reviews 4/5). I have them myself, not bad.

Gigaworks T20's $64.97 would probably be a better choice. If you want to keep close to $30, the Inspire T10's $39.74 would be twice the power of the logitech's at 5W per channel, but the Gigaworks are 13W per channel. It's really hard to find a decent 2 channel speaker set.

I have had a version of these these for 7 Years now. (Edit bought them on Newegg in 2010)

I think everyone should own [speakers] (http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Inspire-Multimedia-BasXPort-Technology/dp/B00113PUJQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=254JARK5JSTGE&coliid=I36A5433C9QO2B)

for real. Because, fucking music. Everyone loves music. And if you don't, you are dead.

Thank you so much!

Any idea why this wasn't an issue with my old speakers? https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Inspire-Multimedia-BasXPort-Technology/dp/B00113PUJQ/

Here's how I do it... It never really required any fancy mixing boards or anything...

I have a set of these speakers for my computer. I got them at Wal-Mart with a gift card a while back.

If you check out the description, you'll see that it also has an "Aux In" port on the side. So, basically, I can plug two separate things in!

So I have one of those 1/8" to 1/4" adapters on the headphone-out on my amp, with a 1/8" cable that plugs that into my speakers. So, my bass plays through my computer speakers alongside my actual computer, and when I plug in headphones it goes through there too. Everything goes through my computer speakers. It's pretty handy.

okay that makes sense. I was just wondering because the other slots support mono and its alright, but ill probably just buy some speakers and be able to use them for other things too. Somebody recommended these: https://www.amazon.com/Creative-T10-R3-Multimedia-BasXPort-Technology/dp/B00113PUJQ I don't know how good of speakers to get because the newest console ill being playing on it is a wii. Thanks so much for the help! Just waiting on it to ship and my setup will be complete!

Well I would recommend these for a simple plug and play experience. - Link

They are two way stereo speakers and they are good for the price. Alternatively you could also get a 2.1 in similar price range if bass is important to you.

Do your speakers not have their own phone/mic jacks? I use these quite modest ones and they have ports on the side.
